  • I've been a silent follower of this thread for sometime now. All I want to say is Yamaha should also take care of the quality of their product especially the paint(Rims, Clip-ons), rusting issues etc. I think many R15 users faced these issues including me. The new product should come with these problems rectified.

    • Yamaha has a 250 cc Liquid Cool Engine in its stable (Seen on the WR250R - Off Road Motor Cycle) can't they a bring it here to compete with the Ninjas250R/CBR250R...

though this might be an OT response, but this is just for your statement. Im 6'1, and im pretty comfortable with the R15. I sold my ZMA in 2008 for this babe and quite satisfied with it till now. I only bring it out for riding purpose..mostly i travel to office through the office cab or its a personal visit to some place i go out with my family on car.
I have a bicycle for the local work. So I hope you understand how much and for what i use it...and it really serves well.
Just because you haven't seen it doesnt mean its impossible...expect the unexpected.

why couldnt they bring out this bike itself. cause nothing but a dirt bike will survive the pathetic roads of trivandrum. my r15 front shock got annihilated by some "awesome" roads.
superbikes are the biggest blunders on indian roads.

it is not about the same engine. even if there is some upgrade to engine components and other cycle parts, with localization of components, the price should come down, but it will not! just because the consumer is ready to pay the premium, and there is no competition and substitute to this bike.

when r15 was first launched it was priced at Rs.1,10,000/- on road in bangalore. and that time it was imported engine and parts. now that the components are heavily localized, the price never came down and actually increased. the bike carried waiting period till date just to keep the demand in the market.

the simple reason is absence of competition. with absence of competition, the company tends to price its products at a premium and taking undue advantage of monopoly in the market. if CBR150R is launched in India at a better price tag, the price of R15 will also come down. also the waiting period will also vanish

if yamaha charges fair for its product, i am sure it will take the market by a storm.

why should yamaha invest for a new R25?
because 250 is the next big thing and it applies for the entire globe almost! 250 is a premium segment in many countries and learner bike in many other. with CBR250R being a global launch, i don't think yamaha will shy away from eating its share in this new tasty pie . i in fact think yamaha will already be working towards a new 250 cc bike with a 'R' tag

                  2. you think yamaha fz16/fzs/fazer are over priced? i think every bike in India is way overpriced. especially the splendor!!!

                  • thats what..

--> they can't do R&D for better engine, as it will take the price up. and we will cry, its overpriced

--> they launch something crap and basic on less price. we will cry why can't they do R&D

good bike will not be cheap. period!!!

You are right bro-I'm planning to get these parts powder coated/stickered soon, but waiting for the new R15 to see what I can lift off it!
Most important is my rear tyre replacement though.

                      • Here is a pic I've edited to have a clearer view of what the 2011 R15 might look like.
                        Changes made:
                        1. Font and rear rim.
                        2. Swing arm.
                        3. Entire Tail portion.

P.S: The pic doen't include the ugly tyre hugger.
