The R15 would have sold better if it had a bigger heart. The R15 is a brilliant machine, there was never ever a bike produced in India like the R15, people who rode it loved it and bought it, on the other hand the A180 is just a big bore RTR160, nothing unique to it.

By the way for the A180 to sell it has to compete with many other bikes in the category P180, P220, ZMA (around same price bracket) and off course its own RTR160, in the same category, on top of it the A180 looks almost the same as the smaller RTR. By moving to 250 they would have created a new segment all together, a new image, fastest bike in the country, a big ego boost to its owners, the idea is to have the first mover advantage.
I agree that TVS dont have deep pockets like Bajaj, but they got to get out of Bajaj's shadow, I am sure they will be the last entrants in the 250CC bracket.

Though 1800 people has booked the bike, I still believe that the final price of the bike will have a mojor role in converting these bookings to purchases.

I am one of those who is still waiting for the final price of the bike to be announced officially in India before going to book the bike.. if the ABS model crosses 1.8 INR OTR, the Yamaha will get a new R15 customer or Bajaj will get a new Duke200 customer (provided its launched when I am planning to buy my bike)..

This is the first reason for me to go ahead with the Kwacker. Fed up with the H.A.S.S with my Dio. I have got more than 8 calls till now from Pbk inquiring about the ride's performance & problems am facing. They are doing good job. Hope this continues. Moreover Pbk guys are closely watching every thread in XBHP to know the feedback of their customers.

Ninja 250 is not killed by CBR250 its killed by lack of its availability available in only in Probiking outlets and cities like Raipur where you can buy any Yamaha or Suzuki SBK you dont get to buy a Ninja.

It would be around 10 units a month. There are already more than 15 Ninja in Raipur despite the lack of any service.

Ram, for the money they're selling, IMHO, they're providing a REAL good service & you have made a RIGHT choice my friend. As for me, fate didn't spare, otherwise, I'd been an active member on N250R by now

Glad to know they're watching xBhp community. I guess not even the SBK guys are watching so close. I guess the reason is because, KHI is interested setting up a factory in India, besides they want to dominate 250 segment market even in India. Its a good strategy.

I truely agree the fact that bookings will only convert as purchase after the actual price.. and people have just played safe by booking it.. Though, if there is any other 250 launch or announcement before the cbr hits the road.. I am damn sure 70% bookings wud be cancelled..
You gotta risk it.. to get da biscuit !!!

I think it will be the other way, around 30% will cancel, 70% is too much, for it to happen there must be another Japanese company launching a similar or better specced product.

Till date, only Eterno from Honda has failed to sell, otherwise, all of their products are doing great. Besides, Honda's are well known for their engines.

I have booked and can cancel too, if price goes high or something like that.

I assume 70% coz me n most of the people i know have just booked it.. but will decide upon only when the bike arrives.. ;-)
Actually they say the price is 1.5L ex-showroom delhi.. and may be around 8-10K more for mumbai.. And that will go to around 1.85-1.9L Onroad.. Which is a huge amount for a 250 single.. and if bajaj and yamaha come into field with something around 1.2-1.3L.. it will be a huge difference.. For 1.9L one can buy a R15 + a pulsar 180.. So many would prefer waiting more.. I think.. ;-)
You gotta risk it.. to get da biscuit !!!

Even I have booked the CBR and if Honda shoots the price further or detune the engine even by 1 BHP, I am gonna cancel the booking.

                              1.5L exshowroom.
                              Taxes - 4-5K
Octroi - not sure, assuming 2K
                              Insurance - 3K
Total - 10K, that's all. Now where does 1.9L comes into picture unless you're mixing the prices of ABS & non ABS!!!

Which city do u stay in dude??? In mumbai, the On-road price of any bike is around 15% of the ex-showroom price and the ex-showroom told to me in mumbai for my booking is around 1.6L .. and according to that it goes 1.85L on-road..

For eg.. the ex-showroom mumbai price of yamaha r15 is Rs.97000.. and the On-road is 1,12,000.. so u calculate

And all that for the Non-ABS version.. ABS version will cost around 30K more.
