So if I was looking at doing long trips every couple of months with a pillion, say Bombay - Bangalore, Bombay - Goa, etc etc. and daily city riding of at least 30-40 kms. I should ideally choose the Ninja...?

The closest Harley to the size and category to the ST7 is I think the fatboy.. which is well 13 Lacs more expensive..Originally posted by nagoo View PostWow.. this is some interesting news ... wonder what makes ST7 more appealing ..when Harley's there for similar price
Indeed the number of booking seems very promising .. in just 2 months

I dun think that should be a problem for me... I ride in short bursts of 10 kms...Originally posted by MG_Biker1806 View PostLong Rides - Yes for N650

Ah sorry,my bad.Just curious,why is that though?Originally posted by MG_Biker1806 View Post
I have repeated it time and again that the GT coming to India has lesser bhp than the one selling outside and most probably the Ninja650 will have a better top speed (Based on my ride experience).
Im sorry if i missed that part too!

My main purpose of the bike would be for weekend Morning rides on highways primarily or short rides in between (i.e. during weekdays incase there is some holiday).
No touring planned as of now .
GT650R was the first choice but I am waiting for Ninja650 as it is better in terms of build quality, less vibration and better brand.
GT has got the looks that's for sure , Even if there are any vibrations at higher revs I don't think that is going to cause serious issue as i won't be cruisng at that speeds for long ,just short bursts at higher speeds.
But my concern is that GT650 feel like it will fell apart after 2-3 years , It Don't looks to last long .
I won't be able to run my bike for more than 500 Km in a month and that too if I drive regularly on each weekends for alteast 125Km without out fail. I don't think GT650r riding would cause any problem as i won't be riding my bike for more than 1-2 hrs max.
Things against GT
-Build quality only
-May be Vibrations at higher revs (will check that after taking TD)
Things against Ninja
-Looks
-Riding position is relaxed , GT has that aggressive riding position (compared to N650)
Any suggestions which bike should fit my requirements.Last edited by pp180; 05-20-2011, 10:30 PM.

MG Bro, I appreciate all the info you shared. It makes my confirmed decision even stronger. Thanks.Originally posted by MG_Biker1806 View PostThe green on Ninja 650R is the same one as Ninja250R i.e Lime Green and not Metallic Green.

Btw red single tone is my favourite colour in GT.
P.S: Read the OD GT650 article. For a change a mag article which truly reflects what the bike actually is.
One more thing, can you please tell me how exactly are both these machines detuned?
I'm asking because, if they detune only by putting a more (noise+pollution) restrictive exhaust than the one abroad, its a good thing because we can get an Akrapovics or TwoBrothers full exhaust system to solve the detuning and get even more power than stock.
So, what exactly is this "detuning", in case of GT and in case of N650?
(I do hope the "detuning" is not some re-mapping, compression ratio decrease or Fi adjustment, or things we could never sort out.)---
Brotherhood, Rules, Freedom. Xbhp.
Indian riding = Alertness, Anticipation and Adjustment.

@Samarth
As far as i understand only the GT is detuned.Even i wonder how and why.Smoke rubber, not tobacco.

the GT looks beefier. it's got a big exhaust.Originally posted by captain koli View Postwell im shocked to c that ppl here say that gt has more road presence than the n650
both bikes have similar size and shape give or take a few inches
so road presence is good for both bikes
the N650R doesn't have an exhaust.
tho i am of the opinion that when it comes to road presence...
NOTHING beats Ninja Green.

i 2nd ur opinion..I have personally checked out the Hyosungs in the Lower Parel showroom...The fit and finish of the GT didnt cut ice with me...The ST7 on the other hand had immense presence.. Old school wid acres of chrome...I personally feel the N650 would have better road presence..Originally posted by captain koli View Postwell im shocked to c that ppl here say that gt has more road presence than the n650

What happens to the bike when crossing a shallow pool of water? The silencer exhaust is right below the engine and compared to most of our two wheelers where the silencers are upswept and the exit being almost above the rear wheel axel i'm cruious how the 650r handles this situation.
Real case... what happens during the mumbai / bangalore... rainy season with all those flood infested, traffic jammed roads we are supposed to conquer before reaching back to the warmth of our garage and home?
Usually when my zma used to wade through water a knee deep height of water was still manageable.... so what with the Ninja 650r.Last edited by no_nonsense4857; 05-23-2011, 11:51 AM.
