the autocar review thrashed the GT650R...

also... wonder how soon and if Garware plan on bringing the unfaired version here.

one reason i like this bike...

YouTube - hyosung with screaming demon exhaust

    ducati much??

    listen to that rumble.

hoping to ride one soon... before i make my decision.

    • hyosung has opened the doors for many bikers to own a semi-superbike(just in terms of power) within their EMI limitations...i dont think most people would ever feel the vibrations or so because they will be so engrossed in getting to rider the bike after all its not always that you get to 'test ride' an SBK!!! and on weekend and morn/eve rides they wont be much of a bother i guess...after all everybody knows the bike loving well mannered public so they would not bother on daily commute to be parked and treated by the good guys!

0 to 60 in approximately 2.5 seconds. (kinda slow start)

        0 to 100 in a little over 5 seconds.

        0 to 150 in about 9 seconds .

0 to 200 in roughly about 17 seconds.

seems a bit lazy between 4000 to 6000 RPM.

he's pushing it a decent bit... but no power wheelies!

and then the camera seems to have got bumped out-of-focus.

        PROOF: YouTube - Comet GTR 650 220

and this one tops out at 235 kmph.

        YouTube - comet 650 235km/h

It will never do 230+. The world over the top speed is around 205-210 mark. India getting a bike which is only 70bhp as compared to 82bhp elsewhere shouldn't affect the top speed but the time it will take to reach there will be longer.

Its not a Indian manufactured bike so whatever the character of the bike it will remain like that unless there is a completely new version that will hit the market next year.

          • Check 0-200 for ninja 650R ,

            0-60 in 3.5 sec
            0-100 in 5.5 sec
            0-150 in 9.5 sec
            0-200 in 19 sec.

            YouTube - Ninja 650r 0-200

Also closely checked the GT650R acceleration video in above post. The bike stared moving at after 18 sec.

            0-60 in 3.63 sec
            0-100 in 5.88 sec
            0-150 in 9.5 sec
            0-200 in 18.45 sec

Xionite mate , Plz cross check the 0-200 figure again , it can put a denting effect on prospective GT owners.

There is hardly any difference between two bikes in terms of acceleration for moderate riders, The things that are keeping me away from GT are the vibrations and overall fit and finish but I loved the sporty riding stance on GT. Waiting for Ninja 650R and will then finalize among the two.

                  You mean deliveries I suppose\hope!

@MG: I can show you 10 ways how the factory finished RTRs vibes can be mellowed so! lets not call it the character of the bike yet! May be its an assembly issue (which could be scary too!) I remember the Ninja250 preview had a bike with burnt clutch plates, courtesy an auto magazine that wanted a 'burnout' shot!

No dude... They said that there is still no official memo in written... It is still just a word of mouth... I tried to get a leak with many questions but to no avail... They genuinely were clueless... lol... They were sure about one thing... The KTM and the new pulsars gonna arrive with the Diwali Dhamaka...

Test rides for the Hyosung are not available anywhere... I am planning to visit Ronit motors today evening when I go to collect my bike from servicing... Can anyone point me to the exact location...? Lower Parel is a city within itself...

That's why I said if the bike was manufactured here then issues can be looked upon very easily.

I fear that while detuning the engine performance it become a bit rough on the higher revs, happens with most of the imports when they are detuned for Indian regulation.

Can you tell me why has it been detuned...? I mean what difference does 10 bhp make to the government...

Also is it not possible to "Re-tune" it once we buy it...? Sorry newb question... But is it possible...?

+1 (and with those vibes at 12000 rpm; NO WAY)

The bike cannot be taken above 175-185 KMPH as per Garware motors (You better check with them).
@satyen: its true that issue with tha vibes can be resolved but it is not possible in all the cases; this you also know and yea if they do it somehow that will be great. But till the time they are done with it they should not provide the test rides otherwise this can go against their sales figures...

But why is a detune required by the Indian government... Sounds like a dumb thing to do... When you have sbks with over 200 hp why detune a 80 hp engine to 70...? Does it make sense to any1?

there are over a dozen videos on youtube of the GT650R doing speed over 220-230 kmph. there' one of it doing 235 kmph too.

now i'm sure those aren't "true" speeds... just speedo indicated.

Would be interesting to know how to get that "missing" 12 bhp back.
