Im new to xbhp, nice to join such an informative set of motor afficianados..

I was tempted towards Duke 200 with all the hype. There is a rumour that the bike will be priced at less than 1.5 lacs. I really wonder how is it possible though!!

The price of KTM Duke 125 in UK is 3,700 pounds on road which is roughly 3 lacs rupees!!

The price of Kawasaki Ninja 250R in UK is 4,650 pounds on road which is around 3.77 lacs!!

Keeping the above prices in consideration Ninja in India costs round about 3.25 lacs on road, so ideally KTM Duke 125 should be around 2.6 lacs (if it had been launched in India) ...

Keeping KTM 125 in consideration, the 200 should be atleast 3 lacs with a bigger engine and same cycle parts!!

I thought of considering KTM and Kawasaki in UK coz both of them are tied up with Bajaj and should ideally have many pricing factors in common.

Whats your thought on the same?

I was also keen on GT250 R/N!! and then came the shocker...

On road Price of GT250R in UK - 3,800 pounds - 3.08 lacs

On road price of GT250N in UK - 3,400 pounds - 2.75 lacs

On road price of GT650R in UK - 5,200 pounds - 4.20 lacs

On road price of GT650N in UK - 4,700 pounds - 3.80 lacs

The on road price of GT650R in India, launched by Garware Motors, is 5.5 lacs!!

Keeping the above factors in consideration, the price of the new GT 250 R/N should be in the region of 3.8 lacs!!!

To sum up the whole thing, according to me, expecting the Duke 200 and GT 250 to be priced below CBR 250R's price of 1.7 lacs on road is just impossible!!

Sorry, for disappointing the optimists with the above info.....

dude you are forgetting that the ninja 250r in india is ckd. the duke is going to be manufactured here to my understanding, so your comparison wont work

Duke 200 spec are not market specific, i'm sure power/torque figures are going to be the same.. even then 23bhp doesn't make a lot of difference to it's performance due to it's weight. Duke 200 is going to be a low volume model for Bajaj when compared to Pulsars and one more thing it's manufactured here and exported to other markets. So, producing a detuned machine just for Indian market doesn't make lot of sense to Bajaj.

      lets hope so...

      • Saw this bike in flesh today at the NEC show. The 200 and 125 were side-by-side and were hardly different in looks. The handlebar+grips looks thin (and light, not fragile) and the first opinion was that it wont be a good tourer. The seats resemble pulsar220 in hardness than soft splendor/karizma....

The sign board said 126+kgs(ready to race). this is impressive for a 200 with 26bhp...this should be a real butt-kicker!

I am not sure about India-pricing, but i remember reading RBajaj mentioning KTM price = 2 x Pulsar price. New Pulsar should be priced INR95K onroad (given our high inflation - dont forget this folks!!!) and KTM200 then should be almost 1.8L on-road.

i have a different opinion here. My cousin is good friends with the probking dealer... and he assures me that the bike will be between 1.30-1.40 lakhs. He has no info on the specs yet but says there is some kind of press event in december and the bike will be available for booking and test rides in january after the auto expo..

                • Looks like it will be the real Lord of streets (sorry yamaha for stealing the words). Will be a punchy pack I am more interested to testride one. But 25 bhp power output seems too optimistic, as it is very clear it will be a street bike the majority of the punch will be obviously at the low end and unless a 200cc mill screams it cannot produce 25 bhp, hence I am expecting a respectable 21-22bhp and 20Nm of torque with lots of low end punch and fun.

You dont even trust the makers of the bike. It is KTM that says 25 BHP not us XBHPIANS.

I think we had enough of this "dealers" assurance. Not a single dealer got it right about R15v2, so there is not reason to believe why another dealer should be right.

Saying that, slotting it between CBR250 and R15 will make sense.

                          • Saw the bike yesterday at the Birmingham NEC show, just like 'pitbull' said for the Suzuki Insuma 250, there were no people around the KTM 200. Infact, when I sat on the KTM 200 few people were looking at me the odd way. Anyways, as soon as a sat on it the tank felt little bit thinner than the FZ. Have ridden the FZ before, FZ feels bit more wider (from sitting on the seat point of view) than the KTM 200. I am sure the KTM is lighter, is a little bit thinner (compared to FZ) and will kick butt with its power but it did not really make a big impression on me at this very point. I hope that my mind changes if I ever ride one. Have taken a pic, will post some in the next couple of days.

the guy is a avid biker, possible customer, already owns ninja and he has the news from regional managers. no word on the engine but the pricing news is 100% legit.

i posted on this thread some pages ago that new pulsar models will have mono-shock & underbody exhaust for mass centralization...nobody else got that information
i got it from the PBK manager...
that very own manager doesn't know the launch date of this bike...
i think he will be one of the first to know if something is officially declared.
