The Bajaj engineers are putting in their best efforts to turn around the low and mid range power and torque outputs. With the numerous appreciable features being included in the new bike, the price is likely to increase by Rs 20,000 - Rs 40,000. The revamped bike is being manufactured at the Bajaj's Chakan plant off Pune.
First of all, the current Ninja 650R is a CKD so it attracts 30% duty on the kits. If these kits were to be manufactured in India, first of all, this 30% would be saved and thus pricing should ideally reduce(instead of increasing).

And since it is a Kawa product, there is nothing BAL engineers can do to make it better/worse.

    Sorry for going off topic.
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

Hyosung is likely to price the GT250 competitively given that it shall face stiff competition from worthy rivals like the Kawasaki Bajaj Ninja 250R, The GT250 should ideally undercut the Honda CBR250R by a considerable margin, so we hope to see pricing that is sub Rs 1.5 lakh.
A V-Twin engine would make that statement anyday a false, but dreaming doesn't kills or does it . !!!

      • In the interview with Rajiv Bajaj which CNBC has published, Rajiv clearly mentions that KTM was developed in India. Snapshot given ....

"..........So, what we are working in the direction to develop common platforms for KTM motorcycles and our own Pulsar motorcycles. This may benefit from the economies of scale that the Pulsar has. It will substantially improve the cost structure of the backend and with the pricing power at the frontend. KTM will be an enormously profitable company. So, that works in it for KTM.
As far as Bajaj is concerned, we did not do this from a technological point of view because we started the development in March of 2008 and we will be in production in April 2011. So, if we can be in production in 2011 with all new KTM motorcycle that was designed out of here, it shows that Bajaj always had the technology to put it out.........."

        • ^^^ Hey, I've seen that interview. Yes, it's true that Bajaj conceived the platform to use it from 125cc - 350cc engines. After tie-up with KTM, they used the same platform for Duke 125 and yeah, new pulsars are based on the same platform. If my guess is right, even refreshed Disco 150/125 will use the same platform, which are going to come into the market after new pulsars.

Am getting a bad feeling (in a very good way) that it will be two very BIG blows in the form of the KTM "Baby" Duke and "Next Gen Pulsars".

              • the new Pulsar 200, which will share a significant amount of technology, especially its gearbox and transmission, with the KTM Duke 200. While the KTM Duke 200 will employ a DOHC, four-valve, single-spark, liquid-cooled motor, the Pulsar will be powered by an SOHC, four-valve, twin-spark engine which will also be liquid-cooled now.

150 max on speedo....as bajaj is launching it as a street bike and they will focus more on its mid-range rather than top speed....

Hold on to the horses buddy, dont set yourself wrong expectations, if you look at the huge rear sprocket on the KTM, I dont think it will do more than a true 140 or 145, even then it should be very quick to that point. The torque was already mentioned to be 20 NM.

                              • ^^^ considering the power it generates 150kmph true speed is pretty much possible. Whatever the top speed is, strength of this machine is probably going to be it's stand out low, mid-range performance.
