  • If Bajaj has manufactured the parts of KTM duke 200, then 1.5 L price tag is pretty heavy. 1.25 is max it should be.

That's such a weird explanation do you think Bajaj is producing parts out of thin air?? If one is ready to shell out 1.2L for R15, I don't see any reason why Duke 200 should be priced below 1.5L.

      • This is hilarious...
        People just want to crib...
If the parts are not shared they crib spare parts are costly (ZMA Brake Pads is a classical case)...
While if they are shared they crib they are shared with some bike 1-2 segment lower...
CBR shares it's parts with Unicorn, ZMA, P220 etc. which makes them cheaper and easily available...
Ill rather prefer side indicators from Unicorn for few hundred bucks rather than exclusive indicators like in Ninja which cost over a grand....

FYI even the export models have MRF tyres which can be seen in the thread http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/official...t-austria.html
Yes,and the Pulsar switch gears are of good quality and cheaper according to my 4 years of experience. But what I really hate are its breaks... hope Bybre work it out this tym for KTM.
I still think pricing it above 1.3 lac would be foolish....

            Bad mentality.

Go and check out switches of a Hero moto and a Pulsar

You will get to know that Pulsar switches look way better(back-lit as well) than the plastic ones on Hero Moto.

Its simply like people believe what others say to them. Check things yourself and then say something.

            • My silly calculations based on Cost of Yamaha R15:
it costs 1.19 lacs(Odisha OnRoad Price)

              >Duke is 50CC and 8 BHP more, which would cost around 22k(dont kill me for that,i am speculating) more....PRICE: 1.41 Lacs....
              >No fairing = around 8000 saved..... PRICE: 1.33 Lacs.
              >Bajaj parts localisation can save upto 5k..... PRICE:1.28 Lacs
              >KTM has USD fork, cost around 2-3k more than normal.....PRICE:1.31 Lacs.
              >Wider Tires(but MRF) cost around 1k more......PRICE: 1.32 Lacs...

Hence 1.32 onroad..... if it goes anything over that,it would bomb....

                • Any updates from the probiking outlets in Mumbai/Thane ?
I couldn't visit the Vashi probiking as planned this weekend.

From the pics alongside the MT-01, the ground clearance, front fork dimensions and overall height/wheelbase seem to suggest that the Duke will not be a small bike by any measure. The MT-01 is a monster, huge in all proportions, the Duke looks as tall, but not as wide, and is definitely lighter, so I am encouraged by the pics.

1.3 L (OTR) is what I have been saying from the start. Anything above it and Bajaj will lose VFM tag.

                      > duke is 50cc and 8 bhp more the r15 but its bajaj not yamaha...i think cost of bajaj 200cc engine will be at par with yamaha 150cc unit coz yamaha is known for charging premium on their products or it can be max 6-8k more than yamaha....
                      >rightly said it will save around 10k due to naked look
                      >acc to me me bajaj will save 7-8 k due to localization
                      >totally agree with above points regarding forks and tires

so acc. to me cost should not be more then 1.24 lacs....
if they will charge 10-15k above that then they'll have to face stiff challenge from upcoming yamaha ys250 which will be launched in auto expo and people will definitively give more importance to yamaha product ....and i am sure yamaha will price it below cbr 250 as its a naked 250cc and they would like eat a pie from honda's market share.....

We are talking about KTM duke and not Bajaj Pulsar here !

And KTM is as good as Yamaha...

I have ridden (not owned) a Bajaj bike and I have also ridden (and owned too) a Kawasaki Ninja 250R that Bajaj didnt manufacture but just assembled in India. There is a vast difference in quality. Hence, I stick and stand by my word

While I am not disagreeing with you on Pulsar's quality being better than the bikes manufactured by Hero, I am still quite sure that if KTM duke is imported as CKD by Bajaj and assembled, it will come out way better than the one manufactured here.

Yes, that thing is right but we will have to wait for that till Jan to check it out.
ANd I believe its gonna be KTM all the way.
