Arjun - Welcome to the forum. I am a new member as well. I have also been reading anything and everything thats mentioned about KTM. Even I do keep checking for updates on this very often. There was no intent whatsoever by anybody in this nice forum to either prey or offend or hurt you or anybody. Just that the whole bunch is very anxious/curious/interested/passionate about anything new trickling out about this fab machine so it tends to get a tad irritating reiterating points that have been time and discussed. If you have something new/concrete/tentative whatsoever please do share it here and we will all lap it up hungrily. Please do not take offense.Originally posted by arjun123100 View Post

Welcome to XBHP. Please don't take it personally, it was mentioned in general...Originally posted by arjun123100 View PostCan u pls stop preying on me..first of all,i did'nt intend abt the production units or abt CKD but was trying to tell tat it wud be gud if ktm duke 200, is not priced as a premium bike and can be priced aggressively at 1.3 to 1.5L..even though ktm 200 is nt ckd,bt it has all the techies and power needed,so it may pull some extra cost and i was following this thread and did read each and every post of this thread from the initation part and check over for any updation for every 1/2 hours..so pls understand wat someone exactly means, and then move further ur statements..
P.S im new to xbhp posting and no offence/hurts intended to anybody..
This forum is for raising queries and sharing knowledge...
just like you we keep on checking this thread regularly for any updates, and when we see a new post we read it with excitement, but off late its turning out to be same queries being posted again and no new info, so all the excitement goes wasted...
So Its just a request to all that plz search the forum a bit before raising any query...
Anyways, I think considering all the techies/ power/ styling/ brand KTM should be priced in the bracket mentioned by you i.e. 1.3-1.5 L on road, higher than r15 and lower than CRB. As it has been positioned in that segment...

CBR Non ABS is close to 1.6 OTR price. I had been to Saphire Honda today (pathetic reception, will never go there again). I was trying to find out about VTR250 launch/price details etc. he has no clue about anything called VTR250 (he was giving me a puzzled look)Originally posted by saurabh81 View PostWelcome to XBHP. My visit to PBK Indiranagar also wasn't too pleasant as a chubby chap out there was least interested in my queries and was looking out of the glass panes while answering me with disdain. but we have no choice as it is the only outlet that deals with bookings/sales.
BAL would sure be aware of the various models that will flood the market in the coming months and would not price it inconsiderately. But even if they do - there still will be takers!

this thread is accumulating with off topic matters & silly speculations.. i think active members like payeng bhai is salient because of this.....

You are kind of correct.. but over the years I have seen that this kind of discussion at xBhp is natural for every new launch in India. One can't stop people from speculation or posting their views.. after all it's a democratic forum.Originally posted by vishnus View Postthis thread is accumulating with off topic matters & silly speculations.. i think active members like payeng bhai is salient because of this.....
About the 200 Duke, we know how the bike looks, we know the specs.. all that is left is the pricing and when it'll arrive at the showrooms. I am expecting an early 2012 date.. after so many years, a few more months is certainly not a big deal.

everyone expected R15 to come with more power and possibly bigger displacement, that's the biggest disappointment, but with Duke 200 we already know how it looks like & the specs. Only speculation is on price, it's not going to be big disappointment.Originally posted by vishnus View Postmore speculation = big disappointment after launch
just like the R15 V2.0

Slight OT here, I still do not understand that why should R15 v2.0 be a disappointment to some! Yamaha never said that they are coming out with a big brother of R15, did they? All that came out from Yamaha was that a new R15 is coming out, that's it. It was us who created speculations over speculations that it might be a 180/200/250cc with 20+ bhp figures. Due to it's extremely impressive performance, R15 is always put against motorcycle(s) that are more powerful and of higher CCs. But it's still a 150cc motorcycle, and it's current power output is appropriate. It's a sportsbike, but it's a road going sportsbike, not a racing motorcycle! I personally feel, without hurting anybody else's sentiments here, that calling R15 v2.0 a disappointment is just a wannabe-power-seeker reaction!
Coming back to KTM 200, it's specs are out and it's going to be a hell of a performer that's a guarantee. I personally feel that even if it's priced neck to neck with CBR250 non ABS, it would still be a great buy.The Chronicles of Motorcycling - The Man, The Machine and The Road

Everybody is expecting that the bike should be proced at 1.20L....Originally posted by vrugonnab View Posteveryone expected R15 to come with more power and possibly bigger displacement, that's the biggest disappointment, but with Duke 200 we already know how it looks like & the specs. what if KTM will priced it at 1.6L... should that make everyone feel disappointed.....
&about the power....what if the mill outs only 23bhp.....?
again disappoinment.....
i'm not blaming everyone for expressing their imaginations but please keep the real world situations in mind before expressing... thats all,
no offence ment...

did i blame Yamaha for the speculation.....?
i blamed the persons speculated about thw v2.0's power output
and about u'r statement.....
Yamaha told nothing about the new bike.....they kept silent even at the time of scoop pics publishing over internet....

Well, not everyone is expecting it to be priced @ 1.2 L.. I mean come on that's the price you are paying for R15. Most of the guys know it's going to be around 1.5L. Duke 200 spec are not market specific, i'm sure power/torque figures are going to be the same.. even then 23bhp doesn't make a lot of difference to it's performance due to it's weight. Duke 200 is going to be a low volume model for Bajaj when compared to Pulsars and one more thing it's manufactured here and exported to other markets. So, producing a detuned machine just for Indian market doesn't make lot of sense to Bajaj.Originally posted by vishnus View PostEverybody is expecting that the bike should be proced at 1.20L....
