Well.. Honda and Yamaha make use of the brand name to justify the cost of their product.. now that the KTM is offering a beast for less than 2L.. its time honda and yamaha to start thinking twice before they justify the cost/value of the bike.. now the P375 is surely going to bring down the sales of all the other so called brands unless they have something in their mind.. that something should be VFM.. keeping this in mind.. if they bring in a bike which can be as good as the D390 and P375 on papers.. it will sell like hot cakes..

again.. imaginations and dreams apart.. this will never happen.. wondering why their bikes cost so much? quality? now D390 is one of the best that I know of in terms of quality..

There are two main logical reasons behind it.
        1. BAL seems to be following Duke pattern so.. as Duke launched 375 CC motor.. it makes perfect sense for BAL to launch the same motor without making much investment on R&D.
        2. I do not think there would be any launch below 375CC motor.. because if you see the BAL history.. They have hardly launched lower CC of motor after launching higer CC.. for example.. Pulsar 150 then 180 then 200 and then 220.. similarly .. for Discover.. they had 100 CC then 115 then 135 and 150.. They have never stepped down to a new lower CC engine once they have launched the higher version.. Plus if they have to launch a 350 they will have to do a whole lot of R&D.. which I don't thing BAL is doing it anymore.. apart from tweaking and little modification of Duke engines and putting it on Pulsar.
Classic discover was launched as 125cc dtsi then down to normal 112cc engine similar in looks to ct 100 engine..and p135 was launched as the youngest brother of all pulsars

I am not a Bajaj official who made a comment and has to correct.. lolz .. main purpose was to project my logic.. That mostly they step towards higher CC engines..

I completely agree to your point.. Expensive is always not better.. If the finish of the plastic is not as good has some other bikes.. does not mean that the quality is bad.. I don't want to remind.. But so called Reliable Honda.. also had so many issues with CBR and still has it.. I have a friend who has Avenger 180. It has run more than 2lac kms and still running no engine work done till date.... I never liked Bajaj due to the myth created that Bajaj is not reliable.. After buying a Bajaj bike.. I think different now. its just their engines do not have thumpy sound.. but THEY ARE RELIABLE .. and the Quality is also good.. And.. Maybe there paint job not be as good as some other brands.. But to me.. I don't care much about Paint if the quality is good..
And please people.. Please change the mentallity that Made in India is not good.. I have seen some people.. if a Gora farts.. they will say.. wow.. and you put a Indian rose in front of them.. they will .. what a big deal about it... Please appreciate.. if somebody had guts to give some world class product which we can boast about..

Dropping a bike and checking the quality? Lol, seriously??!! Thats pretty lame. Quality means breaking, stability, reliability etc. And bro I said the public will think like this. I for one am happy that we are benefited with regard to the cost of the bike. And I have clearly mentioned it. Please be fair enough to have even that in consideration.
And yes costlier the bike, better the quality, thats the notion people may get. Which obviously is not true.

Bajaj is made in india and that saves lots of importing cost and other taxes which the other japanese bikes are not exempt to which would increase the cost of the bikes.

I bent countless FZ handles trying to do stoppies and i am yet to bend my Pulsar 200s stock handlebar or a KTM handlebar even after many drops.
The reason for Indian bikes costing cheap is because it is highly localized and everything is done here right from design to raw materials to production and they dont need to pay any foreigner anything. This saves a lot of manufacturing cost and this benifit is transfered to the end customer.
Duke 390 costs more than twice abroad and so does Duke 200. P200NS also costs almost twice and so does RTR series and they are same bikes, made in same plant with same quality standards.
Its our mentality "If its expensive, its good".
yes these local made bikes take much more abuse than some of the bikes mentioned above, for ex the r15's rims bending problem. The R15 is track customised bike and the weight plays very critical role in extracting best potential, so the bike has under-gone lots of weight reduction on all the parts of bike which makes it slightly delicate compared to the RTR's and Pulsar's.

As mentioned previously the costs are low because of localised parts manufacturing and local production, not necessarily that they are low on quality. Try buying the same duke 200 or the 390 in Europe and mind you the duke 200 is costlier than the cbr 250 in the europe.

Pulsar will be marketed as a relaxed small displacement tourer whereas KaTooM will be marketed as its aggressive counterpart with sharper styling and more track focused design.

I think i should start saving up for that body-kit for Duke. Should not be hard to install as both share same Chassis .

I agree that a sports bike or I should say a Track bike should look like.. but please spare some bikes for Torturers. Pulsar 375 looks more like a Sports-Torturer.. I guess they are trying to pin down Honda CBR.. no offence to any CBR owners..
