Folks who are used to seeing R15 like designs will need some time digesting this design.

All it needs some big barrel guns on the front (like batcycle) to complete the looks.
No, it is not futuristic. This design is quite retro and not considered modern. Designs like these were common in bikes of the late 60s and early 70s.

Ugh. That's disappointing. But not much as I had already expected that as it shares the same engine with Duke and has no proper muffler. KTM should have given a proper exhaust at least on the RC.

            most definitely not retro.

it's just that the design of the headlight is well, unconventional... and "dated."

i mean, look at the crop of just the headlight. it could be a 400/600cc scooter or the front end of a snow-mobile.

the headlight, from the front, does look a little dated... like it was designed by someone in the 80's who designed a bike for "the future."

but that's just the headlight bit tho. the rest of the bike and the whole bike when seen in profile looks superb.

i mean, c'mon! that looks friggin' perfect.

now if only they could do something about the sound the thing makes and we have a winner.

It does look like an old sportsbike from the 80s.

Regardless of the minor design issues (mostly down to personal preferences), I feel that the Indian biking crowd should feel privileged of getting such equipment at a friendly price. It is not often that such a design pedigree is available to the masses.

n i think that looks hot n different in front of th ubiquitous twin headlamp sportbikes of today.everybody makes these.
coming to the sound i would say it definitely has a character of its own. i mean every time a duke passes by you know its a duke and nothing else. yes you may not like the sound though personally.

Is it because of the dual headlight? Compare the visor design (just the visor; the rest of the bike design is incomparable) of the two bikes. They're miles apart. The RC 390's visor is wrapped around the upper fairing. I think its modern and classy.

privileged? it's manufactured in Pune, (it's practically a glorified Pulsar ) so it's bound to be sold at "a friendly price".
KTM is not doing anyone a favour. feeling privileged has nothing to do with anything.

yup. JUST the headlight. the two bike's are not being compared here.

just the design language of the headlight.

the rest of the RC390 design is top-notch.

I too agree that they screwed up the headlights in their quest for making something 'unique'. But I really don't care as the whole package is fantastic. In fact, I don't even care about the sound. The only thing that gets me worried about is its quality.

Exhaust sound in bikes matter more than it does in cars. It may be something non-functional but it is a very important aural character people identify bikes with. KTMs exhaust sound is muted ttrrrr.. which I don't like one bit but I will force myself to overlook this since there are third party add-ons. But I have read that even they don't make not much difference to KTMs, sigh..

Ha anyone got any information about the possible colour choices? I want something in black and they might launch at least one more colour like they did for duke 390. Personally I have zero issues with exhaust sound, somehow it has never been important, so that's one less heart ache for me.

If any one has any contacts in high places I would like to know if they plan on launching more than one colour.

As for the headlights I too thought they were an eyesore initially but the design is slowly growing on me. I think I am going to like the bike..
