Honda will do nothing more than a port of that engine into this one.
They obviously dont have the time to make a all new engine.

CBR 250 R is already 25 hp (If I AM right). So power increase of mere 1.5 hp? Seriously?

I see no logic in Honda developing an all new engine when they already have a 300.

They might retune it a bit, but thats it.

Bhai, it's not a new engine. They just changed the bore-stroke ratio. Not a big deal for Honda.

This is great. The increased competition is bringing out better products for the customers. Waiting to see its launch price in India. Looks wise, I love the VFR looks, but no complaints with the CBR look either. Being a HONDA, I'm sure they'll maintain the current SPORTS-TOURER status in India rather than going out for track oriented bike, which is useless in India.

Totally agree.....I'd rather have s Sports Tourer than a dedicated Track day machine any day. I mean, how many of us do actually have access/means to run laps around a track any way?

Touring is still/will be the most popular form of motorsport in India, and I hope Honda stick to their original plans.....

am expecting nutin more than 30 bhp outta this change....

                            35 is too high hopes..

this move might be due to hero along with other firms entering 250 cc segment next year.. and these same companies uspply bikes to other asian countries as well...
guess honda just wanna have a bigger engine...

and people talking about n250/n300 compare... no ways.. those machines are class apart...

On a side note..........there goes my careful, painstaking research work, trying to choose between the Duke 390 and the CBR250R! :P

I have my doubts that a single cylinder engine can show a bump of ~10 PS with just a minute increase of 50cc. The current CBR250R produces ~26 PS. N250R and N300 produce 33PS and 39PS of power. With an increase in capacity of the engine by a mere 50cc, is it possible to retain the essential characteristics of the original engine it is based on?

Just for comparison's sake and putting power figures aside, N250 wasn't miles ahead of CBR250R in performance, the ninja's biggest advantage was higher top end. It's not mandatory to use equal number of cylinders to match another motorcycle's performance. Secondly, I didn't quote any speculative figures to talk about CBR300R's expected performance. I just mentioned that the new CBR will be closer in performance to Ninja 300 (which means that the performance gap between CBR250R and Ninja 300 will be reduced) and it will, doesn't matter by how much.

As you agree, in the absence of any specs, we cannot speculate much about the performance. We do not even know in what state of tune this 300 engine will.
