I don't think so at all. Given a choice of CBR300 over CBR250 majority people will go for higher cc.
People buy CBR250 due to it's power and reliability of Honda badge.
Good Tourer and powerful. But how about little more power ?? surely an added advantage.
CBR250 was surely a replacement for people who can't buy or afford or don't want to spend extra cash on Ninja.
CBR made people's dream true of 250cc. Even CBR300 will do the same against Ninja300.

For average or other stuff still there are plenty options in India.

Just waiting to see when or what Honda does CBR250/CBR300/400..500 etc ????

not true soumen1984. many don't have a need for 300CC. I for example didn't get the CBR250 because of its looks.

Affordable performance bikes have to go beyond a single cylinder if our market and biking has to evolve....
motorcycle laws...roads...speed limits...taxation...customer segment target(most sold segment is commuter segment for middle class executive)..pricing..emission and fuel economy....these are the barriers...if it weren't japs would have launched many..got it bro??

Launch of CBR300 has indeed created a stir .

Common guys leave it here, afterall at the end of the day people would always be there at either sides, loving it, hating it or whatever, do not invite disharmony over it.. Invite peace

Ninja 250 sold in decent numbers despite high price tag, we have singles that are fast for what it got now.

It will be cool if the parts in bold are explained a bit. puzzled.
How can speed limit be a barrier for building a twin locally? How the taxation is going to affect the same?

i understand it this way, japs are already working on big bikes for other markets to keep the R & D running.
They are here in India to sell mopeds and make big money. Small high performance twins are not there main interest. Kawasaki is the only mainstream company that makes a low capacity twin. But they cant make it in each country of course.

Honda is simple looking to outgun Hero in numbers. Numbers have to come from 90-125 cc commuters.

On the other hand Indian companies have ambition to build bigger bikes, to prove , to achieve, to march ahead. They are no having a ZX14 R to fine tune or adjust the cam etc, they have to go a long way, so they will be relatively more interested in making a low capacity twin.

For bajaj biggest of there bikes are most profitable for them so they will not mind taking some risk.

according to me honda will launch new cbr250 not cbr300 as it will not make sense for them to increase price in a price sensitive market like India.

Right. Unlike Kawasaki, who are happy with their niche position in the market, Honda are after numbers. I doubt they will sacrifice their numbers for a better (and more expensive) product. They might refresh the 2014 CBR250 with the twin-headlamp looks, but that'll be all I guess. Again, I'd love to be proven wrong by Honda.

Biking is not about how many Km/h you put on your Speedo. It's about how many miles you put on your Odo. Ride Safe, Ride Long!

OT - Get the feeling they have the CBR 500 in the pipelines for India faster than launching the 300 here.

True Honda is after the numbers.
well, lets hope. even a refreshed CBR250 would be welcome. I personally don't like the present 250 front.

Now that's asking for too much from Honda

Even i feel honda will launch their 500cc bikes soon which will affect kawasaki a lot because honda cbr500 will be priced exactly in the middle of ninja 300 and ninja 650. whereas honda cb500 (naked version of cbr500) if priced right can give sleepless nights to kawasaki ninja 300.

To be honest, it won't. A Ninja is a screamer of a sportbike. In spite of having a much smaller engine (~200cc less than CB500), it makes only 6bhp less than the CB500. Anyone looking for true performance would choose the N300 over the CB500. The CB500 will be more of a relaxed machine. It won't be lightning fast, it won't be an agile sportbike, but it will strike a good balance. There will be takers for both.

release the 300 as an update at current 250 prices and Honda will rack up good numbers I believe.500 will be overpriced for sure.
