Conclusion: In that case it is a commuter. Regardless if its an R15, Karizma, Pulsar 200/200NS, Avenger, Royal Enfield, CBR 150/250, 200/390 Duke... Whatever. Which means that our "so called" desi bikes for enthusiasts are nothing but "glorified commuters".

So you mean to say every bike in India is called a Commuter huh??

So tell me what is the difference between a person who is using an R1 for commuting and a person who using a.. ummm.. say Splendor for touring (in India).. would that mean the R1 is a commuter too and a Splendor a Tourer??

Wow man.. I seriously love your logics...

Understand the fact that we people in India use these bikes are daily commuters though they are not meant for that purpose.. The bikes are meant for different purposes but we Indians use them as commuters..

End Of Discussion from My side to your post because this is going to go Off the Roads and end up bashing me

          Edit: Splendor as a Tourer

If a person is such a dumb then he'll end up with an over heated engine in the middle of a busy and congested street on his R1.. and the Splendor guy will end up with a back ache.

Correction: All the bikes that are current made in India are made with commuting in mind. Some of them are marketed as "Tourers", "Super Sports", "Street Fighters" but basically all are commuters.

Exactly what I am trying to say.. so how can you claim all the bikes to be commuters.. we Indians use them as commuters.. they are not commuters..

Note that a guy has got lehd using a TVS 50..

Marketed as "Tourers" , "Super Sports", "Street Fighters" all this based on the fact how the bike performs in these places..

Hero No where mentioned their bikes to be tourers or Sports Tourers but they are comfortable for touring and this is a fact that no one can deny.. If anyone is to Deny.. Please do..

Exactly what I posted above. I know a guy who commutes to office (7-8 kms round trip) on his Busa. That doesn't make his Busa a commuter right?
We Indians want everything in the minimum expense and thats why the auto companies are having a roll. Any high powered bike is called a tourer or a superbike.

                And most people believe!

BTW, out of the 37k odd kms I have done on my bike, roughly 18k has been while touring. So I guess I can finally take Satyen's tagline of CommuTourer!

                  @no one in particular.

when I pointed out that ZMA/ZMR is lagging behind the competition in terms of tech and spec. hero fanboys said 'do you even know what ZM* is ?? it's a commuter !'

okay sir. but when pointed out that hero doesn't market it as one and has never marketed it as one, the same bunch of people start posting about 200NS, avenger, their category and what not. in other words everything except the bikes from hero.

nice shifting of goalposts btw. please do note that I was not the one that brought in other brands into this discussion, hero fanboys did.

Lets drop this debate brother! It will serve the community for good.

We all know that HMC's products so far have not been at par with the competition in terms of power or tech, but that doesn't mean we downgrade them when they attempt to do so, right?
Lets see what they have to offer. In fact I favor both sides of the argument.

HMC needs to bring in better products and soon, but lets trust their capabilities and not write them off so soon. They'll make mistakes and adapt in a few iterations over the years. We got the bhp increased in a few products, soon monoshocks would come with better designs (hopefully).

I guess they have set a realistic timeline of 2016 for themselves!

@Divya Sharan now that is a post I wholeheartedly agree with.
I never wrote off HMC. I wish and hope HMC does better than it has.

all I said was that people, especially hero fans shouldn't project this latest round as something it is not. hero can and needs to do better.
I know for a fact that xbhp is one of the places bike co's look for feedback, give them an honest feedback so that they can improve.
misleading embellished feedback serves no one, least of all HMC.

thanks for a post high on content and low on personal attack.

Feedback? You think the company checks this website for feedback?
Even if they did, I guess they would give little thought as this is just 1% of India's population.
And zmr was called as tourer because it had the charecteristics of one. Like good mileage, comfort, relaxed engine, etc and at a lower cost. Views may vary from one person to another though. So shall not comment on other's views. Lets hope off topic discussions stop here.

I don't need to think, because I know.

anyway, they would be really happy (make that 32 allout level happy) if they got feedback from 1% of India's population. that's about 1.2 cr people !
just FYI, one would think discussion on hero's R&D trajectory is very much on topic for this thread. apparently discussing hero is off topic in a thread about hero engines.
