Yea, i also think the same. They must have ripped the bike and so the given FE.

    Rest seems to be good.

    Ride safe and have fun.

no it doesn't, based on most of the reviews and polls of R15 in the internet. most of the R15s give 35-40 kmpl under normal city riding and 40-45 on prolonged highway rides that dont involve hard accelerations/braking all the time or dont involve prolonged riding at 130 kmph+ .

please note, i said "most" of the R15s :-). there are many that get 40+ under city riding and even those that give just 30+ somehow. but all those are in minority statistically speaking based on what most of the reviews in the internet say.

of course, all this assuming people calculated it right.

Even when i borrow my cousin's R15 i get around 35-36 inside city and it crosses 40+kmpl only on highways.
The R25's 22kmpl figure is surely low if its average and not track/ rip session mileage, it might also be because of new engine, Need to wait for complete reviews to know more about acceleration, handling and efficiency. Not that people expect splendor like mileage but surely it will be compared to bikes of same segment, atleast it needs to give better the ninja 300 average which is around around 3.5L - 3.8L/100km in most of auto reviews.

FE does matter for a person who intends to use the bike daily and for a long (~5 yrs) duration of time. Yamaha bikes have been known to return reasonable FE figures if ridden in a sane manner.

I know I'm sounding like a stereotypical Indian by discussing the topic of 'kitna deti hai? ' here, but a good FE from a potent bike like the R25 would be the icing on the cake.

yup even i would be happy with better FE. it was a little funny when r15 was taken as a benchmark for the FE, thus i said that. i guess the bike was not tested for FE particularly. but i will not be surprised if the FE is same as ninja250/300 or even a little lesser. r25 has proven to be more powerful then the N250 so i guess fe will take a back seat.

if i buy the r25 i would not be using it as a primary bike to commute. a 'weekend superbike' treatment it will get

22kmpl is not a bad average, I guess the manufacturer would claim around 28-30 for mixed riding, my R15 when it was stock gave me a (proper) average of 35 kmpl for mixed riding, pimped up I got between 24-27 kmpl, pimped up and properly tuned I get around 30-32 kmpl, so I guess most who will use the bike would be looking at a decent 24-27 kmpl on a mixed average, which is quite decent. Still as much as I like this bike, the RC390 seems a way better option (3rd generation, maybe?)

that's contrary to what yamaha intends this bike be for their owners - a superbike you can ride everyday. :P

                  just saying. ;-)

Everyone would love to do so, but parking your R25 in common parking areas or at office parking areas will draw unwanted attention. And hence little scratches will start coming up. Obviously it can be a everyday rideable superbike but not in India unless you have a separate parking at both office/college/other places and home.

exactly my point. no to office or small time rides here and there. if i feel its safe to park somewhere then yes to city ride.

That stunt video was crazy. that sound of the bike is soooooo damn orgasmic and contrary to the initial thoughts on the red and white bike looking not that great, i feel its getting my attention now a days. looks very neat and attractive. but the blue is anyday better.

coming to the test ride article, so its as we thought initially about the bike being a little pain in city. the proper feel starts after 5k rpm and the fun begins after 8k though i would be unhappy with gear changes in initial speeds, i personally love to revv a lott so i guess the high rpm thingi is tailor made for me . i would say a perfect upgrade after riding the r15v2. headlights are powerful so i see no problems with night ride and touring. the only difference will be the FE, thus shelling out more for fuel.

No re. I don't think the FE will be that bad. It can't be that low as far as my experience goes. Personally I think it can give out 26-27 kmpl in city and ~30kmpl on highways.

Regarding the REV thing, we all love to REV. Anyhow, we can keep it under 5k RPM and can go in ECO mode while riding in the cities. But the low torque will mean lots of gear shifting.

Headlights are one of the best features with 55W power. We know how the 35W R15 headlight feel like. So it's a big welcome part from me.
