Re: Yamaha R25 Launched in Indonesia
Yes on the new fz launch he said that its coming in 2015's initial months. Its mentioned in the launch thread on this very forum.Originally posted by Sarvajit View PostIf that's true, it's really good. Coz I read somewhere (maybe Motoroids) that Kurian stated no R25 this year.

Re: Yamaha R25 Launched in Indonesia
compromised wouldnt be the right word for it i suppose, it's just not what one expects from a R bike...tubular is just too conventional type..being a yamaha am sure it will handle swell for most purposes, but it's just weird that it's a yamaha R but not deltabox...apart from deltabox there are other less conventional and performance aimed chassis designs as well in theory, but instead they went for tubular..i just find it weird and moreover something am curious about as to why they decided to do this..Originally posted by kuntalnag View PostNevertheless, although the chassis is compromised (!!), hope the handling will not be.
anyways..they are the engineers and designers of the bike, they can do what they want.Last edited by aditya_YZF-R15; 07-01-2014, 10:35 PM.

Re: Yamaha R25 Launched in Indonesia
Simple; this is a Ninja 250 competitor. What I can't understand is why they waited for so long. When Yamaha launched the R15 back in 2k8 it was a path breaker. The first true performance bike in India. The R15 along with the FZ with its radical styling changed the fortunes of the company in India. Honestly I had expected Yamaha to do something like that again.Originally posted by aditya_YZF-R15 View Posti just find it weird and moreover something am curious about as to why they decided to do this..

Yes I agree the bike is around 4 years later. But what has happened can't be changed. So let's see what Yamaha has in store for us.Originally posted by incipient View PostSimple; this is a Ninja 250 competitor. What I can't understand is why they waited for so long. Re: Yamaha R25 Launched in Indonesia
all true story indeed mate. but perhaps one would think yamaha would have thought a deltabox-ed R25 would have been a somewhat better competitor to ninja 250R...Originally posted by incipient View PostSimple; this is a Ninja 250 competitor. as has been felt by many of us as well from the first day, indeed R25 is exactly an upgraded ninja 250R (in which case, why so late in the market then indeed) in pretty much every aspect...no wonder it's only for less advanced markets...
you're not alone dude pretty much everyone expected R25 would be some path breaking kind of bike (that R15 was) in the 250 segment at least to some extent..and with that clever baby M1/rossi advertisement it made everyone expect so even more...and then in actuality they ended up doing a honda...
here's hoping as i have already said here a million times yamaha dont screw themselves in europe and the R3 there would be a proper R bike (because absolutely no one would buy just another upgraded ninja there) and soon enough they'll bring it to india as well.

ha! about a fraction of a second after i had seen that ad with Rossi introducing the R25 that looked like a baby M1 i was like... "Yamaha, TAKE MY MONEY!"Originally posted by aditya_YZF-R15 View Postyou're not alone dude pretty much everyone expected R25 would be some path breaking kind of bike (that R15 was) in the 250 segment at least to some extent..and with that clever baby M1/rossi advertisement it made everyone expect so even more...and then in actuality they ended up doing a honda...
and once the production R25 was revealed to the world, i actually felt like i had been cheated. my Rossi himself.
(he has seriously got to sue yamaha for this deception.
)
the least that was expected from Yamaha was to make the R25 look somewhere as brilliant as the R125. or even like a beefier version of the R15.
but no. they come up with this horrible Honda(ish) looking bike.
sick to my stomach i tell you. third world design.Last edited by xionite; 07-02-2014, 09:10 PM..

Re: Yamaha R25 Launched in Indonesia
why is every one so dissapointed?no body has even seen the real bike. why is every one so obsessed with looks?a true biker should be worried about how his bike performs and not how it looks. looks are secondary. after all we dont even see the bike when we are riding it. power wise i dont think the bike is under powered judging by the dyno test videos. there is a limitation put on manufacturers by emissions norms for road bikes. its too early to say that the r25 is hondaish. we have no idea how it handles and performs compared to honda. just because it looks like a honda dosent make it a honda. the bike may have its own unique character and appeal. lets wait and see.superbikes are the biggest blunders on indian roads.

+1 to that. Why bother about what you can't see! That's exactly why I stopped thinking about V2 once I knew there's no performance bump.

Re: Yamaha R25 Launched in Indonesia
i wasn't talking about the bike's looks, which i think was clear from my post :-)
when i said "yamaha pulled a honda", while that does hold for the looks as well, i was talking about the VFM mentality of honda (that they did with the CBRs) that yamaha seems to have done with R25 (in terms of conventional chassis, forks etc) despite initially (cleverly) advertising it as baby M1/etc giving everyone the impression that R25 was going to be some fairly new hi-fi kind of 250 technically..
it can be taken for granted obviously that being a yamaha it will handle good enough at corners or anywhere else, despite not being deltabox chassis which has been a characteristic of yamaha's sportbikes for over 2 decades now..but being so late into the market i am just curious why the compromise.
the 14000 redline is for me the only unexpectedly kickass thing that they have done with the bike..with peak output at 12000 the bike will rip and it's going to be a hell of a fun, no one's in doubt about that...the slight disappointment is not with its power or general handling..Last edited by aditya_YZF-R15; 07-02-2014, 08:39 PM.

Do you need to to "see" a Ducati Panigale in the flesh to know that it's a work of art?Originally posted by akhilmuraleedhar View Postwhy is every one so dissapointed?no body has even seen the real bike. why is every one so obsessed with looks?a true biker should be worried about how his bike performs and not how it looks. looks are secondary.
if you don't agree with me on the Panigale bit... just replace "Ducati Panigale" with "Heidi Klum/Scarlett Johansson" and i'm sure you'll get what i mean.
The way a bike looks and sounds has a LOT to do with motorcycling.
If an MV Agusta looked like a potato and sounded like chalk on a blackboard... do you think a whole bunch of people would care if it "performed" well?
Sure, performance is important... but if you notice, i did not once judge the bike's performance. mainly because i haven't ridden it myself.
granted even some of the specs look lackluster for a 250 in 2014 but...
i'll leave my thoughts regarding it's performance until after i actually ride the bike. (you can literally SEE the honda-ish cost cutting in the design of the R25)
but as far as what the bike looks like... photographs and video footage are more than enough for someone looking at the bike to judge what the bike looks like.
P.S and if we're making blanket statements... then a "true" biker would also know that a R series bike from Yamaha shouldn't have tubular frame.
and why in the world advertise the R25 as being a baby M1 huh?

i can't see my face most of the time. but i'm still very particular about how i look.

Re: Yamaha R25 Launched in Indonesia
For sure it is not going to cost 2 lakhs or even somewhere near.Originally posted by Backbencher View PostLooks promising and worth waiting for , with all the specs it offers . If priced around 2 lakhs then its gonna have a uuuhhh laaalaa in the Indian market .

Yamaha may price it between 2.7 to 3 lakh considering the twin cylinder engine and parts import cost...I believe I can fly...

Agree on all points bro. R15 owners have waited a very very long time to get this upgrade from Yamaha. And from whatever information we have it is a promising upgrade. Yes, Yamaha goofed up when they added the 'R' to the bike. Coz the 'R' gives out a completely different signal and sets your expectation to a much higher level when it comes to looks of a bike.
Yamaha set a philosophy of making a sports bike which you can ride everyday and keeping this as a central idea R25 is designed as it is. Not so forward leaning posture. Doing away with Deltabox etc.
On the second hand, this is a twin and produces some serious horses. Given R15 experience Yamaha, hopefully, will not compromise on the riding experience.
Looks again are subject to personal opinion. That rear could be more meaner but I can make do with that as far I get an eargasm on 12k rpm in the 5th.
R25 is targeted at SEA market. And Yamaha has something in wraps for US and EU markets.

Re: Yamaha R25 Launched in Indonesia
Agreed the bike looks a bit Honda-ish, but it will grow on you (I've certainly started liking it's looks). It's an ideal machine for most of us Indian folk. We can ride it daily and also tour on it without any worries. And stop assuming that it would handle badly just because it hasn't got a deltabox chassis. Who knows, Yamaha might surprise all of us [emoji57]
