Re: Honda to produce CBR650 in India

Manufactured in India...getting many people's (including my) hopes high.
If I have to think practically, my take for the ex-showroom price would be around 4.9L.
Reason: Earlier Honda had said they would bring the bike below 7L (I'm assuming that was ex-showroom too). With local manufacturing they should be able to reduce price by about 30% at least, to begin with.
Hence the guess from my side.
    On-Road price should be around 5.75L (4.9L ex-showroom + taxes)
That should still be enough to lure us, and take down the Ninja's sales figures.

+1 bro..if its under 6L OTR, I ll definitely go for it. I had BN600 in my mind, now that being a Chinese manufactured (Under Benelli's name) , not sure how much I can trust on it. Z800 is way over my budget. I was lured to book ER-6N, Hell, my heart wanted a I-4. So, I am definitely booking this machine when its launched in India.

^^^ I don't think so. Not anytime soon as there isn't even a mention in the cyberspace about this subject.

This bike is definitely making the junta optimistic about their next upgrade; the I4 association itself is a big driving factor.

I don't think so, You can search in the same thread, it was mentioned that it is going to be brought via CKD by mid next yr...HMSI to decide in which plant to assemble them... Production might/will come later down the line...

That was what they had said during Auto Expo about CKD in 2015 and local mftr in 2016, but they announced they will manufacture it next year onwards. Maybe delivery will commence in early 2016, who knows? Either way it will give me more time to save just a bit more
All these Thai, American, European people at the 650F forums taking deliveries of their rides, sharing niggles, modifications and ride photos is just making this wait unbearable

Time. To. Start. Saving..... oh btw, to all those people wishing it's going to be priced at 3-4 lacs, doesn't look likely. It's an inline 4. No way are they gonna price it below the Ninja 650. They also need to make space for the cbr 500, if they want to launch it later....
But even say 50 grands above the Ninja, it looks mighty tempting.

                            "Manufacturing smaller bikes is
                            completely different from assembling
                            the high-end bikes with sophisticated
technologies. So, the CBR650 is our first
step to gain experience of assembling
such a high-end bike in India. Once we
do that and depending on the market
                            demand we may consider assembling
                            and selling more high performance
                            bikes in India," Muramatsu said.

It says they plan to assemble here and also say that they want to keep it below 10L which in all probability means it will be close to 10L because it is not manufactured here. So where did that news come from which said that they are going to make it here?
