    re: Royal Enfield Himalayan Unveiled!

The engine looks all new. I believe the push rod saga ends with Himalayan (though existing models would off-course continue to have it). The sprocket has gone back to traditional setup (left side). Oil cooled and and looks like this time the stroke length is not taking over the bore. Altogether a new breed, yes altogether new as even CGT was apparently, same traditional RE. With those traditional REs the growth is already 43% then I am sure with this breed RE would eat up some share of the segment it never touched.

Long way to go, well done Royal Enfield.

What nobody seems to have noticed is that the motorcycle has a link-type mono-suspension (not the conventional setup where the shocker is directly attached to the swing-arm). This is fantastic and I'm very positive this link type setup will perform great.

My only worry is if this going to suitable for daily commute and of course spare quality! But, it looks really good and I guess this is something completely missing from Indian motorcycle scene. Right, time to tap the market. Think it will appeal to others as well apart from andh re bhakths

Looks like the frame to be modified GT frame. Looks neatly done & right for the job. I think the Conti GT really pushed them & they realized the GT as a good platform on which they can experiment on.

I'm glad that they're also planning a Twin Cylinder engine which fits this platform -

Liquid cooling is sorely missed for our indian conditions.

                  re: Royal Enfield Himalayan Unveiled!

Saw 2 of these bikes on my way from Leh to Chandigarh, some where after Rohtang pass.
Looked good. Unfortunately being alone n on the wheels they were gone before I could get my camera out.
They looked like the ones in the photos in the assembly line.
Can't wait.... I am waiting for this else almost finalised on Scrambler with tons of mod to make a long distance tourer.

At this rate there will be more Enfields on the road than Splendors.

21 - 19 wheels. Good luck finding a wheel for that in the spare market
Wheel spokes are always straight. They are not alloys that can be bent into any shape.

First service at 10K. LOL. Funniest thing I've ever read. Even R1200GS doesnt have that long a service interval.

nothing to do with the fact that i think of RE as 'meh',
but calling 51 percent increase in units sold as 'stupendous' is kind of blowing things out of proportion, considering the base in itself is so small,
the increase over last year is almost equal to the number of swift desire, a 4 wheeler, sells in 1 month.
just percentage increase doesn't the entire picture...

after so many years, RE bikes still suffer from the same poor engineering problems, in spite of so many technological advances, both within and outside RE.
why do we hail mediocrity that is RE?
