    P150 ex showroom- 79k
    My 200ns x showroom when I bought it -83k .
    What a margin ..?

Besides, 200ns will have its product life extended for 3-4 more years as AS is nothing but a semi plastic cover on tank.beside, you can buy the faring of any bike (rs or as) ,hook it upto ns and good to go .
I would've still chosen NS, frankly except yamaha no one can give a peaceful faring which won't rattle in 2 years under 2-3 lakh, and that's when I hate all Yamaha bikes except R1.

        re: Bajaj Pulsar AS150 and AS200 launched at 79000/- & 91550/-

I can still vividly remember words like "Replacement", "Stock Clearance" etc. being used for the Pulsar 220 when the Pulsar 200NS was launched and also when the "Speedlines" color scheme was put on the Classic Pulsars. But what do we see 4 years down the line??

The so called "Ageing" Pulsar 220 still outsells the much modern and definitely superior Pulsar 200NS. And yes the Hero Karizma is nearly dead.

        MORAL:

[1] A model will continue in the market as long as there is consumer demand. Therefore the Pulsar 220 will continue as long as there are consumers lining up to buy

[2] Better refrain to make sweeping statements

From what I know of the Indian Consumer; given at the same price, the AS200 would definitely appeal more than the 200NS.. and who knows might probably appeal to the consumer more than the Pulsar 220 now.

But it's still difficult to predict consumer behaviour. Pulsar 220 has been around since 2007, has built a strong brand around itself. There is an aspirational value around the Pulsar 220. For the mass which makes or breaks a product, it doesn't matter much if the new Gen Pulsar (NS/AS) is superior dynamically.. if they prefer the 220 more, they would still lust for it.

But I find the future of the 200NS definitely shaky (especially at the current price of the AS200).. but then current owners of the 200NS needn't worry as the AS200 is virtually the same 200NS.

A true Adventure bike the Pulsar AS certainly is NOT. But then we Indians don't really appreciate fun bikes like the Impulse (now before anyone gives the 150 cc engine crap, he better go and ride the Impulse over some bad roads) and seem to have a affinity for pretty plastic and plastic muscles. Therefore Who is it here to blame?

Personally I like the "AS" more than the "NS" in terms of styling (its complete now.. and also the similarity with the CB1000R not there anymore). Also I can see the value in terms of the Projector lamp and Taller windscreen for highway rides.. that too at the same price point of the 200NS.

.. the only negative (for the AS200) I see here is the nearly identical Pulsar AS150.. unlike the Pulsar 150/180 twins there is not much of a difference between the two.

Pulsar AS 200 comes with 199.5cc Triple Spark, 4-Valve Liquid Cooled DTSi engine, delivering 23.5 PS @ 9500 rpm of power and 18.35 Nm of torque.

The Pulsar AS 150 will run on a 149.5cc Twin Spark, 4-Valve Air cooled DTSi engine producing 17PS @ 9500 rpm.

Goes without saying a person looking for a 200 cc motorcycle for touring should give this bike a serious look!
i am disappointed by looking at the final product, but won't bash bajaj, atleast they are trying. they have a lot to learn and catch upto, but atleast they are trying.

          coming to this bike->

what makes an adventure bike, tourer friendly, comfort provided by soft suspension, so that you can glide over bad roads and low end torque, so that you can come out of tricky situations with easy. does this bike have these?? NO, a big NO.

looks alone can not make a bike tourer, and headlight alone will not cut it. Period.

            The Bajaj Press Release -

Bajaj Auto today announced the launch of its much anticipated Pulsar Adventure Sport range of sports bikes. The Adventure Sport has been launched in 2 variants - the Pulsar AS 200 and AS 150. The Pulsar Adventure Sport series embodies unparallel power and alpha male muscular styling to tame any distance or terrain

Pulsar Adventure Sport targets youth and young working segments. It’s a great city sports bike which is designed to also gear up for long distance weekend rides. It offers world class styling and performance which is unmatched by any other competition bike

The Pulsar Adventure Sport comes with a distinct style combining a muscular fairing and extended visor, both of which help it tackle long distance riding and wind resistance with aplomb. It is mounted on a perimeter frame with a monoshock absorber to provide rock solid stability and control at high speeds. The sturdy styling is only matched with its power delivery. The AS200 and AS150 belt out 23.5 and 17 PS of power respectively which makes them more powerful than any other competition bike in their category.

Commenting on the launch, Mr. Eric Vas, President – Motorcycles Business, Bajaj Auto Ltd, said, “The Pulsar Adventure Sport series will be a delight to young bikers who want to fulfil their need of daily city riding, while at the same time desire to explore our vast and incredible outdoors over the weekends. These new generation bikes are a winning combination of easy handling in traffic and raw brutal power when one needs it. The AS200 and AS150 truly define our customer’s spirit that adventure never stops”

He further commented, “We have always led on product initiatives and have continuously expanded the Pulsar range to cater to the various consumer preferences in the Sports segment. The Adventure Sports series will further expand and grow this segment by offering a product which matches up to the new age consumer’s lifestyle and riding requirements.”

Both Adventure Sports bikes come with projector headlamps which is another first in the segment. The Pulsar AS 200 comes with a 199.5 cc Triple Spark, 4-Valve Liquid Cooled DTSi engine, delivering 23.5 PS @ 9500 RPM of power and 18.35 NM torque.
The Pulsar AS 150 will run on a 149.5 cc Twin Spark, 4-Valve Air Cooled DTSi engine which will churn out an industry leading 17 PS of power at 9500 RPM.

The Pulsar AS 200 will be priced at Rs 91,550 and the Pulsar AS 150 at Rs 79,000 (both Ex Showroom N. Delhi) and will be available across all Bajaj Auto dealerships. They are available in three colours – Red, Black and Blue.

The Pulsar has enjoyed nearly 14 years of continuous leadership in the Sports segment thanks to its focus on outstanding product design and its superior engine technology. It has complete dominance in the 150cc+ segment with the Pulsar 220, Pulsar NS 200, the recently launched Pulsar RS 200 and of course the Pulsar 180, 150 and 135. Together the Pulsar range sells 57,000 unit’s every-month in the domestic market with a dominant market share of 43%.
With the launch of the new generation Pulsars, Bajaj Auto is once again leading the creation of a new Industry segment and the Pulsar will set the rules for others to follow.

I really don't know how difficult it is to make adventure model on current pulsar platform, but what Bajaj did is clearly to address a segment that wanted a 220 like bike with NS platform and along the way, they casually threw in a 150AS!! By the looks of it, products really turned out well, projector headlamp on 150AS is a very good trick! it's always good to have options, just hope that Bajaj will evolve these models into truly adventure bikes. Looks like there is no stopping Bajaj in 150cc+ segment now. Hero is nearly dead in this segment given the very low sales of their CBZ/Hunk/Karizma/ZMR. With KTM in their stable, Bajaj looks kind of invincible in the performance segment.

There's no reason why the NS sale would dip. Naked and faired bikes both have their own takers. They can happily co-exist. Like FZ and Fazer. Like Karizma R and ZMR.
And kudos to Bajaj for launching a really good VFM proposition. Now, will Yamaha and Honda sit up and take notice? Or we will have to be content with those Malaysian/Indonesian spyshots and rumors only? Time is running out!

It was mentioned that this is an introductory price. So eventually the NS and AS will also be at different price points.

Looks are not that bad, in fact the side look is better than 200NS but that's where it all ends. When the indian companies use phrases like Adventure and Sports please do not confuse it with purpose, it is more of styling and marketing nomenclature.

The bikes will have some buyers but I don't think any true pulsar fan will like either of these. BTW they are meant for urban commute like every other bike from Bajaj.

Few things I would have loved on AS:-
                            1. Steel braided brake lines.
                            2. Single piece handle bar
                            3. Console to have heat bar like on CBR & Duke
                            4. RVM are same like NS which are pathetic. They should have changed that
                            5. Ability to lock the bike on right side of handle(assuming it's still not done)
                            6. Fuel knob is very troublesome to use. A old style near engine is more than adequate.
                            7. Considering everything is a copy of NS, I assume sound is also carried over which isn't great.
                            8. I honestly don't bother much about rear seat but its not great & should have been rectified.

I know above are small issues but they do affect the pleasure of riding.
Lastly, I am in just love with RED color
Why the hell they didn't have this when I bought my NS :sly:

WTH is wrong with Bajaj? This is NOTHING. Take TNT 600GT headlamp, ignitors half fairing and slap it on the NS. Kinda lackadaisical approach from Bajaj. The market is completely DRY for a newer Avenger, and they are launching THIS. :/ Taking the RE approach. One engine and N-th Models.
