Re: Bajaj Pulsar AS150 and AS200 launched at 79000/- & 91550/-

I bought 200NS just last month and Bajaj come up with this one. Really disappointed. IMHO, AS200 looks better and projector+windshield is a terrific addition for long rides . The rear mudguard also helpful than one on 200NS. Now only ABS is missing (and may be FI). I have no problem paying 20-30000 INR more for such combo. Seems like Bajaj started to complete what 200NS is missing and stopped half way for cost cutting measures. A ABS option would have solved that.

(1) power is equal to R15, both 17 PS
(2) Torque is much less than R15, 13 Nm against R15's 15 Nm.

And then i noticed, a Star Mark (*) For Air Cooled Engines Only. he he.

Anyway, this Adventure Sport produces peak power at 1000 RPM higher than a sportsbike (R15).
And they put 200AS IN picture. Cheating :/

Thanks Monk.

Anyone, who has noticed the tyres on AS200 at display in Bajaj showrooms, please comment about their make.

Is it just me or did anyone else feel the similarity to a certain Benelli?

I believe Bajaj is billing it as something between the 220 and the 200NS - does that mean the 220 will be discontinued? That would be disappointing. While I do love the 200NS/AS/RS bike's linear power delivery, the 220 was a pure brute - I would certainly hope a new platform takes the heart from the 220 and extends the lineage.

NS would obviously be better! AS with the heavy front and extra plastic would be like 75-80% of NS in handling.

Don't the 150 and 200 as look same ..?(haven't seen 150as pics ) .
I feel this AS as a Discover somehow having some shadows of ns.

I'll try to answer what questions I can:
emm

The posture of the AS is just like the NS; upright and comfortable. I test-rode the P220 a month or so ago, but I remember having had to bend a bit more forward for that one, though not too much. The experts here can shed more light into the difference in posture between the NS and P220; that'll give you a good idea.

@$nick$
The Pulsar 200 NS, AS and RS come with the same tyres:

Front 100/80 and Rear 130/70 MRF Zappers
sanjanikar

Don't be disappointed about getting the NS; it is still the nimbler bike and a jack-of-all-trades
Rakesh Rok

I won't say that the AS is 'unfit' for cornering. It is forward-biased, but the perimeter frame and monoshock suspension should ideally make it a good handler. I'm still a novice, so I'm afraid I can't judge how much skill would be needed to twist the bike around. I am, however, looking to test it out myself once I familiarize myself with the bike. Overall, the bike is not at all a slouch when it comes to moving around. It's pretty comfortable to handle.

I think Divya Sharan gave a pretty good idea of what to expect from the AS in terms of handling.
chinmayakar

I visited the Panvel showroom; they've still got 2 models of the AS last I saw. Where do you stay in Navi Mumbai?

Oh, and by the way. Small update from my end; I got the bike

I wish I could start an ownership thread right now, but it will have to wait until the weekend; I am swamped with work at the moment, and I don't want to half-ass the ownership thread of such an awesome, awesome bike. See you all then!

What about AS150's engine? Is it the same or derived from that of P150?
Or miniature version of AS200?
