I understand that you think it's a boyish dream. I just know that when I went to the Sepang circuit, I had a fun time and I clocked some of the fastest times by an amateur at the circuit. It was a happy time for me and a sad one because I realized maybe I could have nurtured my passion into a career maybe.

Our nation today is talking about how Sports needs to be encouraged because a girl won a silver medal at the olympics at BADMINTON.
(Who in the world would expect to take BADMINTON seriously???)

We already have a world class racing circuit in this country. But it's rotting away because government officials think like bafoons. No F1 no MotoGP.

And we have industrialists driving their ferraris there now and using it as their playground.

Just incase you think that the I4s i've owned aren't legal... That is NOT the case.

I'm sorry if my post made you come to that conclusion.

Both my I4s have had all they're required paperwork (Bill of Landing (lading] too)

Both have been thru the MH01 RTO which one can be certain of clean paperwork. (This is true in my case atleast)

There is no way that I was condoning buying a SBK illegally.

I just spent ages waiting for a perfect purchase.

And yes, I understand how taxation works. Fast cars aren't taxed as high as fast bikes. Why? Even though both kinds of vehicles use the exact same infrastructure.

To keep this on topic.... I really wish the CBR250RR reaches indian shores.

Tell me now do the costs we pay justify the products we recieve in the end. Imo i dont think so. Thays why you find not even half the population pays their taxes.. If you are taking taxes you need to show for it too. Once that starts happening i dont think so honest citizens would mind paying the taxes..

      Hi drdanishkhannew

What can i say - The Salaried Class individuals are the most unfortunate.
As we can't escape the TDS (tax deducted at source) and then pay the indirect taxes as well like Sales/VAT etc. But that is how the income tax policies are in our country. I being the part of 'The People' can only be fair at my end. In doing so i also observe that due to that half of population who doesn't pay taxes or pay less the burden gets shifted to the Direct taxes i.e. Salaried people.
Or when it increases the Sales tax then we get taxed again, so i truly believe that if everyone pays taxes then may be the govt. won't have to fish for funds or devise new policies every financial year when we wait for the budget with bated breaths
In short what i'm trying to say is people who aren't paying only makes it worse by increasing the Fiscal Deficit i.e. the difference of what the govt. spends and get back in revenues.

      Cheers.

      selfish and boyish for ME.
the state of motorsports or any other sports is deplorable in our country at present. it is evident with the Olympic Medal Tally of the countries where India ranks 67th.

Glad to know that. More the superbike owners putting up ownership experiences more the chances i have of living vicariously.
      Till the time comes.
As far as i know the duties on CBU is 100% even on cars.

Cost of import, spares, infrastructure etc for a 250RR won't justify its price here. Maybe a localized 300RR later.
Honda won't bring a bike just because "a few" people want it.

It's not here to make people happy. It is here to do business. Business proposition with "a few" people is not profitable.
And "mass market" in our country is a lot larger than other countries just due to sheer population.

And selling a few thousand Shines makes more sense as well as money (profit wise) for Honda than a few 250RRs IMHO.

          Profits.

You need to have a prophetic vision to know what will bring in the profits over a period of time. One of the reasons why the Pulsar sells so much and Bajaj is profitable because they went out on a limb to tap a segment which didn't quite exist till then. Royal Enfield doesn't sell commuters yet it rakes in the moolah.

The market will grow and expand. Who is ready to open up and exploit the situation is the question?

Back in 08 when i first got my steed the R15 it was one of the first in my city and people used to question my sensibility that i could spend half that amount and be well off. Come today. Not nearly a decade and r15 are in scores. Every new kid on the block iether wants a ninja and compromises on a yammy.. the purchasing parity has grown quite a lot and that shows in the vehicles we drive. The market is definitely there all we need is players who are willing to take the risk like bajaj did with the ktm partnership and i am almost certain the 250 600 cc segment is gonna blast off towards the moon..

For those wondering why manufacturers launch motorcycles in Thailand/Indonesia, Honda recieved 1,289 orders for the 250RR in Indonesia in just 3 and a half weeks. 86 of those came from a motorcycle show called GIIAS alone.

Well, actually... This is what happens when you showcase a motorcycle at an Auto-show and actually have a launch date for a motorcycle.

86 bookings for a 250cc motorcycle isn't really a big deal for India. (It's only an issue if the customer is told the launch will be sometime in the next 2-3 years.)

When was the last time a manufacturer in India showcased a bike at an Auto-show that was actually going to be launched in the real world right away?

Also, manufacturers launch motorcycles in Thailand/Malaysia because the bikes are actually built there. So it's easier.

                A long time ago...

An Indian manufacturer showcased a 400cc bike and then waited 2-3 years to launch it.

But they ended up launching a 200c version of it instead. It's a pathetic.

Incase you missed, the total bookings for the bike is 1289 units in 3 weeks despite the bike costing 3.3-3.6 lakhs ex showroom there(before taxes). That's more than what the R3 managed to sell in India in over a year's time.
And no, manufacturers build bikes for only two reasons there,
1)The export quality that gets imported to the Western market seems to be a notch above our manufacturing facility and
2)Their home market(production country) also has a matured big bike market(250+) compared to ours which for some reason hasn't moved over 150-200cc premium segment since 2001.

They also sold some 80+ units of the 500R/F/X and CB650F and NC series bikes at this auto show, products which have been in the market for years but just received a cosmetic upgrade this year.
They sell big bikes in days what our country's dealerships manage to sell in a month's time. Their one month sales figures equals our annual sales figures, which is why both Thailand and Indonesia have been every manufacturer's priority as a manufacturing base at this moment. The other reason being the labour/cost of manufacturing which is significantly lower than those in Japan or any Euro country.

In other news Bajaj-KTM set up CKD facility for their Duke and RC 200 bikes in Indonesia this month where they were already selling the Duke 250 and RC 250 models.
The CKD facility helped them sell the 200 siblings for more or less the same price as they are sold in India. Also tells you the sales potential of those SE Asian markets.

There's some leaked specs floating on the internet from what they claim is the email leak from a Honda rep in Indonesia where they have the usual comparison of specs between rivals for their projectors in the slides for launch.

Power figure says 40ps vs the R25s 36ps. Torque is listed at 22N-m. The power peaks at a 1000 rpm higher than the R25s.

It will be a screamer for sure seeing the stratospheric redline and I can't fathom, why such low torque from a 40hp machine.

They could have gone into the R3 and the ninja 300 territory in torque figures.

                      Cheers,

Yes. You can see it in the video I posted above. They now have English subtitles. Press CC to read it.
The bike is estimated to hit a 185kph speedo indicated in 6th at 14k rpm before the rev limit cuts off.
In the video above you can see they were at 12000 rpm at 167kph with another 2k rpm in spare before they ran out of track. Those guys also went from 5th to 6th in a hurry for the video because the track limits end at the cones.

Design elements are similar to R25/R3, slim engine design, chassis and slightly raised clip-ons. However, the overall fit & finish and quality looks much better than the YAM. USD forks and better stock tyres gives it the advantage. Wonder why the torque is tad lesser than the single cylinder and comes at a much higher rpm.

Apparently the first 100(out of 2000 existing bookings) customers in Indonesia will get to tour the 250RR manufacturing facility at Karawang, West Java, then get a chance to meet and greet Repsol Honda riders Marc Marquez and Dani Pedrosa. And that is not all. They will also get a chance to ride the RC213V-S GP replica around a circuit in the same week.

Apparently this is all at the expense of Astra Honda Motors in Indonesia. Apparently the creation of this bike was a joint effort between Honda Japan and Honda Indonesia, hence why they were chosen as the manufacturing location.
