  • It is a good thing that Bajaj is finally upgrading its products.
Some clever add-ons for the lower models is welcome as it will definitely perk up the sales.
Ofcourse, a performance bump is desperately needed and if that is addressed, we should be happy. Hope they don't go the Hero Honda way.
I bought the 220 since at that time it was the best bike in the country (and a defining moment when i tested niks 220 by flicking it at 110 exiting the long tunnel on the bangalore pune road with niks in the pillion. The bike responded beautifully )
Personally, being a 220 owner, i have so far enjoyed the "exclusivity"(as defined in this thread) that comes with it. I Dont mind if the 200 or the 180 or even a platina gets that fairing too as long as the current 220 is also upgraded to maintain its character. (a performance bump, all blacks, better RVMs, list is endless )
What matters is that each bike should have a character.
The customer should get a valid reason to upgrade from a 180 to a 220 even if they look the same

    • Kudos Mik bro.. Well said.. At first thoughts I too felt this upgrade as a "History Repeats" joke.. but now it seems to make sense to me like you said.

      • I'll never sell of my current babe FURY, the P200….bcoz it’s a gift from my dad as well as my first bike…I'm planning to keep it forever no matter what happens.

But that fact aside, the reason I bought the 200 was coz of its different looks and VFM. As far as I'm concerned the P200 WAS the best looking bike in India. Right now that situation is challenged by the new 180, which current owners like me don't like.
As it is the P200 is downgraded by the countless 150 & 180's with added extensions. & now this???...............I really can't understand Bajaj's ploy. They could have retained the classic pulsar looks for both the 150 & 180 (from the beginning of the new design lines) but they didn't.

Anyways its not a matter of new owners getting premium bike looks, its also a matter of Bajaj ruining itself as a passionate-bikers company which I had believed it to be. They just seem to be unwilling to invest anything in R&D and design presently. This organ donation programme might boost the sales for a while but it'll surely affect their sales to progressive bikers(like us?).

So, IMHO, current P200 owners should love their bike and ride it with the same love they had bought it with.(Hey its not the bikes fault…now is it?)

True and exactly what i left out of my initial feedback. It's not the bike's fault and its a great bike still. Yet i feel shortchanged by Bajaj's tactics and as a company, its commitment to having ensure that its products have an enduring value. By Cannibalising its premium offerings of literally all their distinct factors, it does nothing to promote customer loyalty.

I dont take anything away from the fact that new owners get a better deal. But yet i ask a simple question : why neglect the current premium product and not improve on it? Look at the basic ills that the P200 suffers from! horrible tyre grip and electricals. Turning ability and handling through the corners are not its forte either, even bikes of a much lower category are better at that! And after so long, they still didnt bother to give it FI!

But sure many will say they are planning to do so now, but if things are to be believed from reliable inputs and also on the basis that they have done with the 180; then i for sure do not want it at the cost of my fellow 220 owners!

Economies of scale it might be and a great move to rationalise costs, but in a significant way the ownership value for existing owners and return on investments are not going to be their strong points.

I can digest the fact that my ownership value is diluted by competition but what i do not take kindly to is the absolute dilution by the very company that made my bike, in total!

A very valid post, if at-all there's a p180 revamp in the making, they should launch the 200FI first.

                • seems like bajaj has ran out of ideas....!

complete potpourrie of all the pulsars...

                  neglecting these,

its a welcome change but the performance would be marred big time by the 120 rear section tyres and incresed weight to 147kgs....!

anywaz i saw the new p150 being ridden today by a guy in pune

hence i feel its sale has already begun...!

                    • Good Going bajaj i must say, they are doing a good job by killing their 'Pulsar' brand name and nothing else common people wont be understanding the difference between p200 and p180 , as for now common people cant differentiate between the old p180 and p200 model. anyways waiting for the ninja ,if its under 120k then my friend will be the first one to buy them!

                              • Today I saw a guy taking delivery of the new Pulsar 150 from KHIVRAJ MOTORS, MOUNT ROAD. It was a Pulsar 150 and the damn bike had tank scoops a la Pulsar 200. It had the same 100/90 rear though. The bike also had tank decals similar to the one on the 200/220. The 150 DTS-i was written in normal font though. Looks like the tank extensions are going to be standard on all Pulsars hence-forth!!
