Hey Hey Hey! Why this affinity towards brands?Originally posted by cbr600rr View Postbajaj gearbox feels almost unicorn ish??????? thats a very big statement dude!!!!!!!!
even if ug10 comes... bajaj engine will bajaj engine!!
And as if u test drove the P150 UG4
I dont find much difference between an UG3's gearshift and an Unicorns, except that the Uni s shifts were a bit notchier.IT was the upto the UG2 s that had the false neutrals and bad shifts with that all down gearbox.
The UG3 s have an all new clutch and gearbox with one down 4 up pattern, if u didnt know it.
Learn to respect other biker's views too.
When everything comes ur way, u r in the wrong way ;)

well my friend, i myself have a 2006 pulsar 150, 2008 pulsar 180ug3,and a 2009 unicorn, i'd say that gearbox feels unicornish. No offences but i dont like the new short gear pedal(toe shifter) on the uni.Originally posted by cbr600rr View Postbajaj gearbox feels almost unicorn ish??????? thats a very big statement dude!!!!!!!!

it gels well with bikes with rearsets but in the uni it feels a bit uncomfortable
great bike though.....Be what you are, not what you want others to perceive you to be.

Some of my friends (3G Uni owners) were dissapointed too with the new toe-shifter after riding my 2G Uni, they replaced it with the older one.Originally posted by bobby_wish59 View Postwell my friend, i myself have a 2006 pulsar 150, 2008 pulsar 180ug3,and a 2009 unicorn, i'd say that gearbox feels unicornish. Spot : i somewhat shared the same opinions when i posted here some days back - see http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/news/737...tml#post197150Originally posted by Satellite.kid View PostA lot has been said about Bajaj's latest upgrades and especially about the exclusivity factor associated with the P200 and P220.
According to the pics, its quite clear that the P180 will now look exactly like the P200. I believe if the P180 was a P200 lookalike or vice versa from the beginning then this shouldn't have been so hard to accept!
First of all, there's nothing wrong in sharing parts between motorcycles, and why does it have to be?! P180 gets the front forks and swing arm from the P220 (if I am not wrong), I guess it is a really good move as I believe that the ride quality of the P220 is better than P180, right? So sharing suspension from the P220 should improve the ride quality of P180 significantly! isn't it fine?!
Moreover, sharing of parts internal or external is quite common among motorcycle manufacturers around the world. And I personally feel that we shouldn't take this exclusivity factor too seriously. See, many bike makers has been doing this since ages, there's hardly any difference between the looks of Suzuki GSXr 600 and 750, so there goes the exclusivity! Ducati came out with the 1098, its exclusive and later they came out with the 848 and now 1198, damn! they all look the same!!! hardly any exclusivity left!
And though the new design would be anytime welcome, but for the above reasons, I think its acceptable what Bajaj is doing. And I think the changes are not only cosmetic, right?
A motorcycle is exclusive only when it is launched...an year down the line, and there's nothing exclusive about it anymore!
What will be interesting now is the performance of the new P180, which gets more power but with increased weight, can it challenge the RTR180, I think not
that's what we should discuss now without getting senti
All my personal views above.
Cheers!
Also, shouldnt we guys, who havent even seen the bike in real or ridden it wait till one of the magazine / websites put up a review??All new Royal Enfield 'Tripping' ads here -->www.bhp-india.blogspot.com

So the P180 UGIV will look like the P200... in fact it will have a little bit extra over the (current) P200 in the form of Clip-On handlebar and fatter front forks.
The anguish of present P180 UGIII and P200 owners is understandable... but then why Shouldn't a Prospective/New Pulsar buyer get better equipment and value for his money in the form of a new P180 with bigger and better looks..??
With the rearset footpegs, the P180 UGIV will now accomodate riders with longer legs with ease. I am also sure that the handling will improve to quite an extent on the P180 UGIV thanks to the increased wheelbase, fatter tyres and front forks (a reduction in weight by a few kgs would have made the package even better though..).
A nominal increase of just Rs. 3K over the older 180 according to me makes a potent package.
Now that the P180 UGIV has got the handsome looks of the P200, it will be interesting to note what will happen to the Bigger Pulsars.

This post can be taken in continuation of my first and the previous post...
Hmmm....What I see is, sharing suspension parts from the P220 with the P180 is done to improve the P180's ride quality and take it to the level of the P220, right! And I think this is perfectly ok.
And while it has been said by some that the new owners will be glad by "this" upgrade, but the existing owners will feel cheated! Well, I hope that they shouldn't. These kind of moves are part of a motorcycle's development and though it may not be to everyone's liking. If Bajaj is trying to make the P180 better than the "current" P200 in a particular department by sharing P220 parts then I feel there's nothing wrong in this. And its not like that the P200 isn't getting upgraded in return, because it is! What will be interesting to see is what Bajaj is going to do with the P220, which is still quite a secret!
A company while upgrading or launching new products would hardly care about the exclusivity associated with any of their existing models! Otherwise their might not be any development! And if at all they do care, then that will be for their newer model(s) only.
Any technically advanced bike today by anybody's standards will be history tomorrow, right! So why crib about it! Tell me one thing, should current CBR1000RR owners feel bad if, in future, CBR600rr comes out with better components??? ...Think about it!
And as far as same looks are concerned, then say ducati 1098 owners should be equally angry at Ducati for coming out with 848 and 1198 which all look same! Its universal
(I already said this in my last post)
Again, every bike becomes a history one day or loses exclusivity, in some cases it is sooner than expected! so let's move on with it

PS - I've never owned a Bajaj before, my first bike was CBZ, followed by Karizma and now the Bullet Electra 5S...just in case anybody is thinking why I m supporting Bajaj's moves

totally agree with you payeng and satellite.kid
I mean,, i think we should look at the bigger picture here.
We now get a better quality product with add-ons that have proved to be better. whats wrong in that.- You spend half your life before you realize your are ordinary, you then, either are too lazy to change or you do the extraordinary and change the world!

And the above quoted text is key gentlemen!Originally posted by payeng View PostNow that the P180 UGIV has got the handsome looks of the P200, it will be interesting to note what will happen to the Bigger Pulsars.
If the 180 is undergoing a overhaul....soon it will be turn of its bigger siblings!
How soon, is anyone's guess!

I really hope that due to mass-production of these parts the prices come down so that it is possible to replace the front forks and handlebar with the 220's/new 180's fatter forks and clip-ons for cheap.
BTW anyone done that on their bike yet?200 | 300 | 1200 BOXER

Yes it is launched in Mumbai. Just checked em out today.
The 150 doesnot look that good. Looks like some poser mod job,but the 180 is just perfect. It now has all that was missing on the p180 for so long.Clip-ons,rearsets,split grab rails,o ring chain, and not to forget:TANK SCOOPS.
The new p180 is simply awesome.
Even if it resembles the p200 so much, it works for me.
Now Bajaj guys should launch the p200 with the goodness of p220 [FI+Fairing+rear disc]
and a completely re-vamped 220.Without the old and somewhat dated tank design!
IMHO The kind of mods bajaj guys brought out are far BETTER than the "MODS" brought by HH and HONDA guys!!No offence to HH and HONDA fanboys.

Well said. Also pulsar is not at all exclusive.Even posers have pulsars now a days. So does that make you people think that the bike has lost its exclusivity??It is obvious that bajaj upgraded their beloved p180. It was their first performance bike right? And if they have upgraded p180 to look like p200 then obviously the p200 will also be upgraded.Else who's gonna buy it?Moreover, if the new p200 looks like the 220 then same will be the story.Originally posted by voodoo_god13 View PostI think Bajaj are quite clever by making the 180 look like its bigger siblings.
Think about it majority of pulsar owners are not on xbhp and majority of pulsar owners are not riding the 200 and 220.
Now that the 180 and 150 look cooler and have parts from the bigger bikes people are going to be happier buying these bikes, which is what bajaj want. The bikes that make them the most money to sell the most.
I'm sure they had some sorta market research and most people said i want the new 180 to look like the 200/220.
This has a negative effect on current 200 owners who loose exclusitivity, but 200 upgrades are no far away. So new 180's and 200's are gonna be different. and how many 200 owners are going to replace their bikes just cos a newer version is out. I know I'm not, cos I'm still having fun on my 200 and will for a while to come.
Just cos someone elses bike looks better or is faster than mine does not make me feel bad. But thats just me. If that was the case I'll land up hating all things I poscess. My xbox360 is no longer as powerful as a PC, my cell phone does not have GPS, my AC only has 2 stars, my girlfriend gained weight, my crate of beer is half empty.
Existing users should not at all complain about the new bikes being better than theirs.Afterall there should be development right? The changes are not totally cosmetic as in the 09' p180.So everyone just stop cribbin!
