I suppose the only thing that us potential P200/P220 buyers can do is to pray that they both are upgraded in such a way as to set them apart from the 'lesser Pulsars' (duh.....). I would be lying if I said that I wasn't enraged when I saw the tank-ons(or whatever they are called) in the new P150. For me,they were synonymous with the P200 and added to its character. Now though every Pulsar will have it.
P.S.:Pray to God that the new P200 and P220 dont look alike.sigpic

This happens only in indiaOriginally posted by surbhit View PostThis is bad news for P200 and P220 owners
,absolutely no exclusivity for the premium bike owners.
Bajaj had promised new bike launch every month this year and seems like they have already launched 4 bikes this year(XCD135,P150,180,200).All these upgrades for P150/180/200 means that they are going to discontinue P220 and launch totally new bike may be 250cc

Well that's how the ball rolls i suppose these days, with increasing numbers for a new vehicle, the companies are forced to come up with ideas that don't actually need a investment or an development, with the recession and all i think we should not be surprisedI'm too intelligent to the unintended, and too dumb for the obvious.

I AM ABSOLUTELY FARKIN LIVID NOW!
What the hell is the value left for any of the existing "premium" bike owners? what kind of retarded policy is bajaj following?
disgusting! cannibalising your existing product ownership base by upgrading a lower rung product to out-spec in various areas, a higher rung product is equal to screwing them over! and over!
this really really disgusts me no end. Add to it the ills that the 200 suffers from when barely over 6-8k on the odo with the severe lack of grip and all the associated change in handling characteristics for the worse, it only hastens my decision to sell it off and never invest in a Bajaj product again!
Bravo Bajaj Bravo! major idiots!

Oops! I posted this info about the new Pulsar 180 yesterday and what a topic it has become!
MODS : can you please edit the topic and add a poll :
Q: Is the new Pulsar 180 a step in the right direction?
Choices can be Yes, No, cant say
Others : come on pals, dont be sooooo rude to the company. No one has ridden the bike yet and yet we are commenting? There has to be something behind this. May be the 200 is getting a 220 look and the 220 an all new look?
I dont see any harm in adding bits from here and there on the 180. In my opinion, the new 180 does look quite good now. And those who always to own a new 200 now can go for the 180 and save money too. The power too has gone up by .5 bhp to take care of the extra weight and fatter tyres. The bike cant be that bad guys... Let one of us ride the bike and see how good (or bad) it is..

what does it matter mate? if thats the logic to be followed, they've not only screwed existing 200 owners, but even the 220 owners are gonna get screwed if they go ahead and bring the 200 on par with the 220. In resale terms you are gonna be ripped apart DIRECTLY by the very company whose product you are using!! That in itself is an exact contradiction of what every company aims for when it says that their product is of an endearing value over time! when its value for money for longer periods of time.Originally posted by groupbhp View Post

What would happen if every company says "Buy my premium products, pay a cool high price for it and its top of the line but please be aware that i'l be upgrading my lower end products to what you are buying now and will be still sold at a lower price"
It just pisses me off when people ask whether my 200 is a "modified" 180 as it is! so just imagine when these "new" 180 enter the market.
Where is the value of that? If you were to own a Mercedes s500 (one of the top of the line merc's in the s range) only to have them suddenly offer a new "C class" with 90% of the S class looks and most of its parts and yet sell it for much less than you forked out for the S, who the hell is gonna look more stupid? you or the guy with the "new" C class.
Also when you are off to sell your bike on the resale market, who's gonna offer you a price based on what the value of the 200 is? They're gonna pitch it on your face and say look @ 50k odd i can get the new 180 which LOOKS like your 200 and is arguably better than your 200 specs and is even way CHEAPER than your 200!
rather than pay you 45k even for a resale 200 that costs 76k new!
There are so many "dudes" riding around town with their modified 150's and 180s that it's a sickening sight as it is for 200 owners. How many of them you think give a shit about how the bike rides or the fact that its a 180/150 under all the cosmetic changes? i cna bet you 9/10 of those guys who modified it only did it for the look of the more "upmarket" and "premium" bigger bike.
In India my friend, you pay a premium for "percieved value" of a product based on its looks when it comes to these kind of things. Aesthetic appeal is very important to most people.
Yes the 200 is a good bike. Yes its a different specification etc. But if this is what the company does, then its just robbed of 9/10 advantages that it posessed over an in-house product thats more than just a "few thousands" below it in price.
I'm just too damn disgusted. I hope the 220 guys dont have the same fate in store.
Eventually bajaj will have prolly have just one new product and thats the replacement to the current 220. The rest will be "diluted" down. 220=new 200; 200=new 180; 180 = fark knws what; 150 = new XCD?
frigin joke!Last edited by Absoluthavoc; 04-21-2009, 10:55 PM.

ROTFL!! Poured your heart out!! (even mine)
I'm damn sure that there will be a significant drop in the resale value of all the 4 pulsars! From variable Bhps to a constant 17.6 Bhp.

I really dont know about others and cant really say that my attitude is all that matters but the fact remains that when I bought my past bikes be it an Enfield Machismo or P - 180(1st generation) all I had in mind was the raw power that I was getting and the thrill that will come with it being driven on an open highway. Exclusivity? what exclusivity? Let the entire world have my bike. I dont care all that I cared was having a fast or possibly the fastest one that my money could buy and with shich I could enjoy the highways. That is the reason I bought a helmet even when they were not enforced because I wanted to enjoy driving my bike without having to worry about my safety rather then telling then taking the helmet off and announce my exclusivity. And to this day all that I aspire is a big powerful bike in my budget be it a Hero Honda or TVS or Bajaj for that matter. I would have loved to own the current P180 or TVS 180 but for the fact that I really believe that I will soon be getting somewhat bigger and better bikes at not so bigger prices.

My First gen P180 produces only 15 horses. It does not have alloys and it looks nothing by todays standards and ofcourse its not a dtsi but it has never stopped me from appreciating the upgraded pulsars and I have never felt any insult jealousy or embarrassment for that matter. Why should I? I never bought any of my bikes to stick with them for life and so I was happy that when i finally change i will get a good upgraded product from some manufacturer and not something that is essentially the same what I am discarding. Think of the earlier times when we had only Enfield Rajdoot and jawa. You bought a bike and drove it for 15 years and when you replaced it you had no option but to replace it with exactly the same engine block. I would not want that time to really come again and so I am all praise for TVS and Bajab continuosly trying to upgrade their bikes with their R&D.

^^^^^^^^
rightly said...in a country like india, where most of the people can only afford bikes form bajaj,tvs...etc etc....
obviously there will be lots n lots of bike from same make......no point in discussing about the exclusivity......doest matter all the guys of apartment own the same bike or so.....we should enjoy our ride
