    Re: Hero Xtreme 200R: A Hero's arrival

After watching all the journalist reviews from BIC event, its easy to conclude a few points:

    * Its competing with 160-180cc bikes - both price wise & performance wise
    * It is a power commuter - meaning its perfromance is focused in low & mid end
    * Its not supposed to have a sporty feel in higher rpm
    * It has a comfortable suspension setup

Should have let the engine settle down, run-in properly and then try to hit speedo indicated top speed.
After 3.5 years of ownership and not many kms on odo, my 220 does respectable speed for an engine that hasn't seen any work in 10 years of it's existence. [emoji23]
Xtreme 200 is a powerful commuter bike. It is literally fighting in the 150-180cc segment and has nothing to do with Apache 200 or Pulsar 200 area.
    spot on

It'll give tough competition to premium 150cc Japanese street fighters

Finally he made a video that he had to replace the cylinder-piston set/timing chain, etc and SVC advised him to ride gently for a few thousand kms. Then again he posts another video saying the parts cost were covered in warranty. I really pity TVS who for no fault of self had to bear the cost of new parts - they were probably worried about 160 4V's reputation and this fellow makes another video "1st gear challenge" .
Oh yeah,Saw him.Damn guy even blamed TVS for giving 'sub-standard' Products.I feel sad for the bike and the company for taking the blame.

Remembering the CBZ and Karizma,How they used to be praised for being able to beat the competition,Displacement vs Displacement and fast-forward a few years later, looking at this...This is just sad.

Does anyone know whether xtreme 200r has got AC or DC electrical setup? I am annoyed by the fact that most motorcycles by Hero and Honda still has got AC headlight setup. I made the mistake of buying Honda Unicorn 160 for my brother 8 months back and its AC headlight irritates me the most among other things. I wish to sell it and buy this Xtreme 200R but ONLY IF it has got DC headlight.

whats the issue with AC headlight ? you can change to a better bulb else move to LED with rectifier and it works fine.

Yes , light can be modified. Xtreme 200 is the mist vfm product in 200cc category with good low end torque.

If I can understand the original poster's comment asking about AC/DC headlight - it could be because AC setup gives varying levels of headlight throw and is dependent on the amount of throttle input. I've had a Bajaj/KTM since 2011 and I love the DC setup with consistency of headlight throw and intensity.
AC setup in their most premium product looks very old and doesn't sound like any kind of innovation.

They haven't invented anything since their split with honda and prior to that too it was honda that was giving them the tech. And same is the case with other indian brands. I.e. TVS uses the same engine of fiero in all Apache, A310 got the bmw 1 probably. [emoji4]

most commuter motorcycles does not generate enough power to charge a big battery fast enough hence the DC setup.
what can be done as an alternate is move the headlight to DC with manual wiring and move to H4 LED setup
else keep the headlight on AC with a LED with rectifier that gives constant output irrespective of the rpm.

That's a lot of headache to go with and losing warranty becomes very easy.
I wonder what's the difficulty in providing DC setup - Bajaj, Suzuki, Yamaha have all done this long time ago.
TVS started now with 200 4V and absolutely no idea about Honda.

                              Re: Hero Xtreme 200R: A Hero's arrival

@Akash.Yadav understands exactly what I wanted to say. AC setup looks like a cheap SCOOTER headlight where you have to rev the engine to get proper light. There are numerous instances where we are turning in a blind corner and need good illumination while disengaging the clutch and LO - you can't see anything because the headlight is now flickering like an LED agarbatti, then you are forced to rev it in order to see better! This crap shouldn't be fed to us in 2018.

Oh and don't even get me started on modding an AC setup. God only knows how much wattage the coil produces at idle rpm, hence getting an LED H4 bulb is risky and a gamble at best. Converting AC to DC sounds promising but it will void the warranty, it's not a common knowledge, it requires lots of trial and error, you need to find an expert coil rewinder guy, and nobody would be able to guide you in case something goes wrong. In short, it doesn't sound promising enough that you can trust the setup while riding on highway at night.

Hence I have decided to stop buying motorcycles with AC headlight. I would gladly ride an (uncomfortable) Yamaha R15 instead of riding blind at night. BTW I have installed cnsunnylight brand H4 LED (claimed 50 watts) in my karizma ZMR and its light intensity is just mind blowing. I didn't face any trouble even in the rains or dusty roads. I don't feel safe while riding motorcycles with halogen headlight (at night) anymore.
