How will the Indian scenario ever improve????

If a down graded bike gets such a hype in India cause it is cheap, how will the biking scenario in India develop???

Forget all the latest technology, forget liquid cooling, forget twin spar frames, forget Fi, forget mono shocks, forget double disc brakes forget everything India is and will remain stuck with air cooled carbed engines mounted on bicycle frames..because it comes cheap..thats it..when it is cheap forget technology, forget safety, forget performance, forget braking, forget cornering forget riding gears, forget helmets..forget everything...
    India biking will never improve...
I will now never blame Hero Honda and the Munjals for anything..they are probably the best Indian Auto brains...

Sad that the P220 was down graded in the interest of revenues..now more and more non helmeted, t shirt clad guys will be wheeling around local buses and autos on MG Road...good bye to bikers...
So much -ve thoughts . Just coz the bike has no FI. Dude the FI is still in production you can buy it if you want.

I am happy, kudos to Bajaj, they are throwing down the gauntlet to Yamaha & TVS, match us at least in Performance if not in price.

Please read about the new bike on the net before ranting. The only downgrades are the FI and the price.

        Upgrades -
        1. More Power & Torque & Top speed
        2. Better Engine Head Design, Valves and Hotter Cams
        3. New Clutch
        4. Bigger Oil Cooler
        5. Advanced CDI with temperature based Timings
        6. Stiffer Suspensions
        7. Better Tyres

Frankly, it is an excellent job by Bajaj.

And you still want FI for bragging rights, go ahead buy it!
Your biking tells a lot about the person you are!

          +1,

So much for lip service over the net, but lets see how many guys would really prefer the "Fi" over the carb..
Hero Honda and HMSI have their PGMFi on the 125 cc Glamour and CBF Stunner respectively.. Not to forget the RTR 160 Fi from TVS.

Why don't these 'high on tech' models sell like hot cakes..??
          Any thoughts..??

          • It is really sad people think like this. Instead is looking at the positive side you are starting to crib about the new developments. People have been criticizing the Fi from Bajaj. Instead of using a faulty much cribbed about Fi system Bajaj went ahead with a Carb. So what's the problem? And who said it is downgraded? It is better to use something classic that works rather than something modern that doesn't. Yeah we will forget about everything else if we get the same pleasure riding the classic equipments.

            • i have MPFI in my zen but some how in the morning i just cant rip it rite after starting it like my old zen that was a CARB i can it even get it to run like my Maruti 800 and same goes for my Wagon r that is a MPFI aswell.

above example was just given in context to the Fi thing. i dont think that Fi is a really great idea if it is increasing the price and above all in the bike its easierd to tune a carb for more performance oh even in the car its the same

-how does increase of 1 bhp and a improvement in handling be called a downgrade.? is providing affordable performance a bad thing.?bajaj could have very well removed the FI and given us a much slower bike at this price and also gotten away with it but they havent! kudos to them!(some people are never satisfied)

-now which company doesn't want more revenues even if u ask honda UK or US if they want more revenues or if they want to satisfy the enthusiasts .. they would happily choose the former!
..now more and more non helmeted, t shirt clad guys will be wheeling around local buses and autos on MG Road...good bye to bikers...
-what does riding without helmets got to do with the launch of this bike.A person who want to wheelie will do so in any bike he need not need the p220
-now if your whining about seeing more bikers is to due to loosing exclusivity as the carb p220 will be available in most showrooms then go get your self a R1
IMO the carb p220 has been launched to take up the place of p200(u get a bike faster than p220fi for the price of a p200 now that's just awesome on bajaj's part! performance in now more affordable!)
i seriously think that there will be a new bike to take up the position as BAJAJ's flagship at 80K+( no not the ninja but maybe a new 220fi!)

Connection of Fi with helmet is very hard to digest......ahhhh....I have the solution....I'll FORGET

BTW, I have booked the "downgraded" P220 today....soon I'll be riding it with my Arai Helmet and Alpinestars jacket and boots around local buses, autos on MG, FC, JM.... Road

                    • So looks like my speculation turned out true! The carbed 220 is the new 200!
And the all black&1ps more power also turned out true!
Wow man! I'm becoming a great speculator.

Anyways, jokes apart, the best part about all this is the part confirmed by Sunny about the Ninja launching within 3 months!

                          • Zig Wheels review is good. But it makes me wonder if some of it is marketing fluff. Not doubting the rider or his skills (as he's a great guy and an awesome rider) at setting good timings but then again its editor makes me have my doubts regarding some of the info presented by the mag. Also the never ending claims about top speed with just a 1hp bump in power makes no sense in the real world. Not trashing the p220 here, i actually like the new iteration and waiting for one of my friend to book it now.

Waiting for the bike to hit the streets so we know where it stands. The specifications as have been mentioned earlier by some of the members seems like a really worthwhile upgrade to the bike! Mags dont represent actual statistical data with respect to performance figures and fuel efficiency varies from person to place so i prefer not consider them as a fact. But at most can be taken as an approximate estimate of a real world statistic, which makes it really good. And if the fuel efficiency figures are true, then it would be the most fuel efficient big-bore in the country.

That apart this new bike is a wonderful approach from Bajaj to cater to the performance starved bikers who need a good bike at an affordable price. With plenty of features and performance to boot, this bike should eventually rock the sales chart. And at the price it is going at, it is truly Value For Money! And if they have really worked around with the engine bits, it just might prove itself to be a good platform for some further tweaks and the carbs making the job much easier. Good move from Bajaj!!

Wake up buddy. The Indian biking scenario is in fact improving. Finally there's a bike from an Indian manufacturer which has a power output of more than 20 BHP and that too at such a low cost.

The P220DTS-i is indeed an upgrade to the pulsar series or the p220 to be precise. Why?
                              Because it's got improved handling,
Better gearshifts thanks to an all new improved clutch,
More power than your beloved [FI],
                              Better tyres,
and not to forget, it is the FASTEST @ 144km/h

And Guess what, an air cooled carb'ed engine is running faster than any other bike on Indian roads [barring the SBK's obviously].Also a bike without monoshocks and double disc brakes is handling very good even on the tracks.
BAJAJ guys are making older technology work on par with the newer FLASHIER technology. And you talk about advanced technology huh?
Not everyone can afford to have the ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY BASED SUPERBIKES.

Please do not crib about the fall of prices and easy availability by saying that there would be more posers with this bike. Check out the poser diaries thread. You'll see that some posers even have access to SBK's. So are you saying that having SBK's too is a bad idea?
                              I DON'T THINK SO MISTER!
