well, I found a blow up diagram of Ninja 250R 2008 (carb) and yes the spark plugs are on the top... in between the valves. But I found only four valve holes there... looks like I over-read some specification - is the baby Ninja's engine not a 4 valve per cylinder one?

I had clearly explained about it when the riduculous 1.5 - 2.0 lakhs price was first flashed that it was PURE SPECULATION (read Bakwaas).. which unfortunately was picked by every online Johnny and copy-pasted on his site, including some reputed auto publications.

What are you guys expecting?? An international product, made available in India and that too priced lower than what it is sold at internationally..??

Some wild speculations people make.. remember the 20-21 Ps speculation for the R15 after it was shown at auto expo 2008 (before the specs were made official)?

Thanks Bandhav, for unfolding that piece of news.
Could you tell me, if the Limited/ Special edition color scheme (Green-white-black) is in the offing? Also, if the answer is yes, is there a premium for that?

Response would be appreciated, as i really fell in love with that color scheme, but that of the 08 model, which looks understated , rather than the one posted some pages back.

                    • Guys, I'm (just) considering the Ninja 250 for now ... I wanted to know about:-->

                      1. Can it be repaired through a non-probiking, if a guy from Probiking comes once a month? Will it work out?
P220 DTSFi's have been repaired like that...

                      2. With a compression ratio of 11.2:1, What kind of petrol will it take for high revving? I don't have Speed93/ 97 in my city ...

                      3. How road friendly and rough&tough is it? Any true comments would be great...

Man, I'm really missing the KTM Duke as I ask these questions ... But, ok let's wait for answers ...

                      • Speculation getting confusing now

                        Hi guys,

I am a new member of xbhp and it was nice to see this long thread that indicates tremendous enthusiasm about Ninja.

Autos.maxabout.com, as someone posted the link before, has updated its Ninja page and updated the price from 2.1 (which flashed earlier) to 1.85 lakhs. I am wondering if we can rely on the page :

Kawasaki Ninja 250R Review, Kawasaki Ninja 250R Price , Finance Kawasaki Ninja 250R, Comparison, Images & Videos, Models, Variants | Automotive at MaxAbout.com

Also there are a few questions that need to be pondered

                        1. Compared to other indian 225 cc bikes (including Pulsar), will that make sense to have a hefty price tag of around 3 lakhs for Ninja?

                        2. If we had to pay 3 lakhs for the bike, how will importing be different from buying it from Bajaj Probiking showroom?

Anyway, lets see how it goes further. I am all keen on seeing 6th October arrive!

                        Cheers
                        -Ashutosh

just to correct things here, the wild speculations have been made by the news people and not us, I am purely citing prices which I read on Vickyin, BikeIndia, Business Today etc.!!!!!

Theres one thing that I would like to share here (you all might already be knowing it) that the fi version of the bike, which is being sold in Europe (at a higher price) will not be the one to launch in India. India has a non fi version which costs less than fi.

Meanwhile, the site - Kawasaki Ninja 250R slated for launch on Oct 5-WheelsUnplugged Automobile Industry News says that the bike will come here as CBU (which I dont believe).

So when was maxabout a reliable barometer of prices of newly launched bikes?
                              1. Please do not compare Indian 220cc bikes with a Ninja. Agreed the ninja is based on the 90s GPX250 but it's been upgraded to meet todays norms and expectations. Our indian 220's produce around 21 & 17ps respectively while this one is a 33ps DOHC liquid cooled, twin cylinder engine capable of producing more power but has been tuned down to meet Euro learner bike norms.

                              2. Simply put it will be an impossible affair cuz import regulations do not allow importing of bikes lower than 800cc unless it's an TR.

The FI version is a lakh more expensive over the Carb one so it add to that duties and taxes will make the Ninja FI cost almost over 4L. Not a good idea is it?

And frankly speaking our so-called Bike enthusiasts have started to disgust me. Blame it on the small car culture or our inherent want to get more for less i have seen bikiing enthusiasts cribbing all the time. If it's not pricing then it's power, if it's not that then it's over riding position or analog/digital speedos! It's disgusting really. You guys have to realise that we are at the forefront of a revolution and there are somethings which we all will have to sacrifice/forego if we want the biking scene/culture to evolve and advance further in India. Simply put until there is sufficient demand for hi-powered bikes no manufacture is going to take pains in localising the manufacturing which in turn which reduce the costs of the bike. So you have 2 options about right now: Either buy it or don't. Simple. But for god's sake stop cribbing about the high prices...

Edit: The above post wasn't meant for ashutoshx but for people who are cribbing about the Ninja right now.

If the import is CBU, then expect to pay twice of the international price. Please refrain from believing any sites.
