Pure speculation but I don't think bajaj has any intention of reducing quality in any of their products. Especially in this premium class. The less that goes wrong with these bikes...the less it wil cost bajaj to actually sell and keep them on the road. I think they will go for quality when the quantities are this low (I mean we are talking 100s rather than multiple-thousands).

For what Joy? Plus these instruments are run by a cable...the old fashioned way. I don't think the Pulsar instrument panel will go in that easily and doing R&D on a low-volume product is definitely not going to be high on their list of priorities.

It might well be possible that Bajaj has instructed its people in showrooms to be tight lipped about the stuff so that they can release all possible information on the bike on October 5th itself.
Currently, there is no news about any delay in the launch of the bike and hence we can probably be optimistic that there wont be a delay in the launch.

But even if we assume that the duty applied IS the same for both SKD and CKD, but if if it is SKD, the no. of parts (i.e. the value of parts) being imported is lesser than CKD, hence less duty, thats my logic at least. We still have 7 days to wait for everything official to be out. Till then, we can all have fun speculating.

Just to update you ....i went to pune PBK showroom and asked about Ninja...one of the guy told me that "sir abhi ek mahina hai launch ko " and i asked about the price he told me 2.5 to 3 ....i was pissed off with this news ...and told him that what happened to the news release........was that a joke .....with the customer.....if they cant keep their promises after releasing it in news paper than wht will they service this CKD/SKD/CBU bike....i doubt ..........

i greatly believe that the ninja will launch in the first week of october did any one have a clue when ZMR was going to launch HH just launched it and the pictures came out.

After releasing so many news items here and there, if Bajaj cannot launch one bike in time, then it is so ridiculous isnt it? As such they have been delaying it for long.

It will be utter unprofessional attitude if they have let the wrong news get released so conveniently.

Answer from MANAGER KANJURMARG PROBIKING SHOWROOM :

Dear Sir,

The official launch of Kawasaki Ninja is scheduled on 5th October 2009 in Pune. After the launch the vehicles will be dispatched to the other parts of the country.

This vehicle will be exclusively available only in all Probiking showrooms across the country.

The price of the vehicle will be disclosed only after the launch of the vehicle. Sorry we cannot make any guesses regarding the price of the vehicle.

The value of the duty on a SKD might be lesser but i am not aware of the exact specifics. We will have to wait till the bike and pricing is out.
Err Bajaj uses MRF tyres so yea expect local brand tyres. I don't see any problems with that. As a matter of fact it is good news since the CBU Ninja would come shod with tyres that have drawn flak from many a reviewers.

@Ashutosh: Mate the different replies from pro-biking managers doesn't show anything except that one of them is unaware of the whole launch thing. Now when a definite launch date has been quoted by Mr. Bajaj why argue about the same? Launching now will help them capitalise on the festive sales.

I think Bajaj guys have lost it!!!! they are just releasing speculative dates to keep us in discussions etc. I am about to blow my fuse anyway. Damn the Ninja!!!!!!!!!!

They are kind of going haywire on this. Probably thats what they want - to create a stir as India always have been deprived of good bikes around this cc range and since they are launching it, they are so full of themselves.

Dushyant is not unjustified in saying that he is all set to blow his fuse. It is indeed irritating.
