Anyway, I'm still not convinced that Yamaha is serious about India. Why do their bikes still have such high import content? I hope that the Fazer 250 will follow on the footsteps of the R15 and not the FZ16, ie that it won't be a 250cc bike with a litre class body/chassis that drags it down.

PMFJI, but I don't think you're looking at this from an Indian perspective. Like all of us here, I too realise that 250cc is not biking nirvana, or a really big deal in international circles. 250cc is just starter class internationally. If I buy a Ninja 250, I can be sure that not many of my mates will be leaving me behind on their 600s. All of my friends use their two-wheelers as a transport and not a hobby. In such a situation, a 250cc bike with a crusing speed of 120kmph and usable power in the city is more realistic than say, an R1. And personally, I feel that the supersports bikes are overrated, even the 600s. You'll never be able to unleash all of its performance, and it ends up being something that you just show off, and end up paying through the nose for maintenance and fuel.Originally posted by gsferrari View Post
Thanks, but I'd take a new 250cc 4-stroke fresh off the showroom than a yezdi or an RD. I'd end up spending twice the purchase price on restoring it, and then I'll have to pussyfoot around for fear of damaging a classic. And the prices being asked for rusty old RDs are just absurd. Maybe the availability of better bikes finally will drive prices down to more realistic levels.Originally posted by gsferrari View Post
I assume you're talking about the Yamaha Fazer 250 that's supposedly coming soon? Why the secrecy? Are you working for yamaha india or something?Originally posted by gsferrari View Post

Considering that it's the most powerful production bike in India, I think it's safe to say that the buyers will be thrilled. There's nothing to compare to, after all. And there's always modding if you want more. And a bike that's been on sale all over the world will have more mods and parts available internationally than something that's still being tested, and is India specific. Just facts.Originally posted by gsferrari View Post
As I said before, this only, ONLY applies if your sole purpose for biking is thrill-seeking. The majority of Indian buyers would rather have a bike that's usable off the track. Neither do I see the logic in paying twice as much, for power that you'll never be able to use safely.Originally posted by gsferrari View PostThis sig made the Kessel Run in less than twelve parsecs. If you love your bike, the thrill will come regardless of the bhp or the sticker price. I currently own a RE and everyone knows that even a Scooty can overtake a RE on city roads. But I have owned it for over 5 years and I get the thrilled each time I ride it. I wash and wax it once a month and when I am done with the waxing, I stand at a distance and look at it as if I have bought it yesterday. Be it a HH Hunk or a Ninja 250, just love it - you'll get all the thrill you need. At least that's what I believe!Originally posted by gsferrari View PostI agree...it is a good bike for the money but for that kind of money I expect to be thrilled every time I ride the bike and I don't believe "thrills" are what the baby Ninja can deliver.

@gsferrari guy
i liked what u said and it might be able to help some people who are on the "fence"
and might regret spending 3L afterwards cause some people just look for exclusivity which will vanish after say 4-5 months!!

I am caught in a dilemma over here in gurgaon, the gurgaon pro-biking has no clue about the bookings and they don't even have the bike on display, whereas in vasant vihar and cp, delhi they have a;ready started booking but won't be able to do the same for me as I reside in Gurgaon. What to do??????? more than 2 years of waiting and still can't get my hands on it!!!!

Did they say that they won't be able to book a bike for you? I've never heard of this rule before. AKAIK, you can book from anywhere. You just have to register it at the local RTO.Originally posted by dushyant View PostI am caught in a dilemma over here in gurgaon, the gurgaon pro-biking has no clue about the bookings and they don't even have the bike on display, whereas in vasant vihar and cp, delhi they have a;ready started booking but won't be able to do the same for me as I reside in Gurgaon. EDIT: Just saw the later post. See if you can arrange the financing directly from a bank, instead of the dealership.Last edited by VivekGK; 10-11-2009, 12:36 AM.This sig made the Kessel Run in less than twelve parsecs. And if you don't know what that means, you're not old enough to. :D
