The above pics looks neat. Except for the odd mis match for the rear tail section.
Here's some things to think about.
1) Will Bajaj still let it come with a compression ratio of 11.6:1 ?
2) What octane petrol would they recommend? My guess is atleast Oct 91.
The Comet was around 1.75L on road Bangalore as far as I remember. I think Sumit would have a better idea.Originally posted by HydBiker View Posthe was quoting the Comet's price. As far as I remember it was about 1.5L.

Can you tell more abt the compression ratio ???Originally posted by pranay View PostThe above pics looks neat. Except for the odd mis match for the rear tail section.

if compression ratio will decrease weight of engine will also be reduced because as compression ratio goes on increasing requirement or more robust engine increase and level of engg also increases. Because at high compression ratio stress and strain inside the combustion chamber increases.Originally posted by pranay View Post1) Will Bajaj still let it come with a compression ratio of 11.6:1 ?
Also if they decrease the compression ratio engine power will decrease
where
b = cylinder bore(diameter)s = piston stroke lengthVc = volume of the combustion chambernow b and s remains constant as it is 250cc
BHP=PsAN/33000
WHERE P= BREAK MEAN EFFECTIVE PRESSURE
s= STROKE LENGTH
A= AREA OF PISTON
N= RPM
NOW
WITH INCREASE IN CR P WILL GO ON INCREASING AS WELL AS POWER
RESULT: BAJAJ CAN NOT REDUCE CR WITHOUT REDUCING POWER(WHICH THEY WILL NOT DO)
I AM GLAD TO BE A MECHANICAL ENGG

I am not a pro but will try... so here you go.Originally posted by amandeepkamboj19 View PostStill cant see the silencer plz give a detail article about ur first meet with ninja
It was around 7:15 PM when I entered half wet in the PBK along with my friends. The senior guys were busy removing the rear wheel stand from the bike as they had attached the one for the front wheel and we were just looking at this gorgeous bike at that time and with the presence of this bike you wont even care to look at any other bike. The bike is simply amazing as all of you know and this is what a common guy like me can think of getting maybe 2 years down the line. The pics posted by me or for that matter any other pics won't do justice to this bike and the bike looks too good in person. It looked definitely bigger than the 220 with that full fairing and the perfect proportion.
Couple of things I noticed were
- From outside I thought that they have the rear seat cover attached to it, but when I went inside I found out that it was actually the rear seat and it looked very good.
- The two tone color (green/black) similar to fz also looks great.
- This bike definitely has the big bike feel to it as reported by many.
- The tank has a bulge similar to other superbikes (and gs150r) and was one of the first things that I noticed.
- The smart clear lens indicators look neat.
- The tail section is also very compact and looks neat (cbr1000rr).
- The RVMs are also very good and as similar to the front headlight in shape (hope you guys get what I am trying to say...).
- The front no. plate definitely needs to get out as it is placed on a black plank unlike the r1/r15 where it is directly attached to the bike.
- A smoked bubble screen would make this bike look better.
- The silencer is similar to the one on the r15 and is somewhat bigger in dimensions.
- The build quality as I have commented previously is definitely better than what we have over here, but I did not look at all the minute details so there can be a catch to it.
- The speedo is very big and would have looked better if they would have made it a bit smaller, though this one does not look bad either.
From the talks that I had with the guys over there they did not make any clear indications about the pricing or weather its a CBU or CKD or even the specifications so can't comment on any of that. The only thing they confirmed is that this is the exact bike they are going to sell over here.
The senior guys over there took some pics of this bike so I took out my phone and was waiting for him to finish when a PBK guy came and stopped me and then allowed me to take the pics after I took the permission from his seniors. All in all its a simply awesome machine and worth getting if you have the moolah to spend as you might not get anything closer to this for a couple of years ( or maybe you would, who knows ). The only thing of concern to me is the kind of service backup bajaj will provide for this one.

About the respective duties on CBU and CKD imports and their effect on the final price of the bike i have a doubt..... Don't we have a FTA ( free trade agreement) with Thailand and some other ASEAN countries? If that were so, the bike could be brought in much cheaper.
On second thoughts, maybe the FTA does not cover bikes! anyway, i thought if someone had the time and resources to find out the duty structure on import of CBU and CKD bikes from thailand, it would make it possible to more accurately predict the price of the bike in India.
If someone can find and post these applicable duty figures, that would be great otherwise i would try to access some trade databases that i used a long time back when i get home.

dude, what you saw must be the ninja only. The pics of ninja posted here on this thread is the 2009 model. Last year the ninja got a face lift. Before, it used to look like an adreno with a little bigger proportions. The little kwacker has been ruling the 250 sale segment for some 20 years. The engine used to be the same as it was first released. Only after the face lift, some lil modifications has been done to the engine, i mean tweaks.Originally posted by spiderweb View PostWell unlike us Indians, there(Thailand) people believe in riding simple n original i guess, thats wot I saw there. The bigger bikes were left only for renting, to tourists...
n I guess us xbhp'ians are a lil qualified to identify the difference between original n modifieds...

@ all - Pls don't ever compare a parallel twin with a single cylinder bike.
BTW, if you guys crib that down the line yamaha is going to launch a 250cc bike, its going to happen, its going to be faster, and the best part is, its gonna cost a bomb. This little baby is the cheapest 250 which is faired, that too with a good brand name. Or you still got a faired 250 comet based v twin.
Also all over the world, the price of the new ninja was increased by 500 dollars. No technical change to it. The pain finish had some difference though. I mean a metallic paint,not sure.
If this bike was released an year back, i would have bought it. Now i don't have the money to spend on it. But i am in love with this bike. If this is gonna cost sub 2L, i wil book it immediately.

True!! Can very well invest in RD!Originally posted by jayprashanth View PostDuh! sad scene. 3L for a 250cc parallel twin. As usual, we're being taken for a ride.

It was 1.78L. I had owned one off the shelf for 12000 kms. Never regretted a moment with it. Regretted every moment having sold it off!Originally posted by HydBiker View Posthe was quoting the Comet's price.
