Seriously i think much has been discussed about the pricing (and bajaj cant help it much, since its coming as a CBU
)..its tym to concentrate on the bike..so how do you guys think its gonna fair on our roads...the bike's clearence looks quite low... and yes in the end i think its a step "forward"

I do wear a digital wrist watch & don't own a analog one (can be one of the very few rare guys)Originally posted by antz.bin View PostBAL is taking a big risk by walking into unchartered 250 territory at such less margins considering costs involved in training or service personnel, equipment etc. And they would have to provide these services at all PBK service centers regardless of sales volumes.
The least we could do is stop cribbing about the analog speedo... if you love digital so much.. could we have a vote..
How many members here wear digital watches?
As for the looks.. till 2007, the Ninja did look like a glorified Adreno.. but looks have been updated greatly since then.. (Hence the price increase to USD $3999 = Rs.1,94,674.326 {Today's exchange rate:google} for US carb edition.)
For more details check following link.

P.S.: The Thailand edition has a fuel gauge instead of temperature.
But when it comes to Bikes I prefer analog meters, just love the analog meters (Just like Santa has mentioned)

Lot of anger it seems in thread ,
the comparison between digi speedo and digi watches is kinda right yet amusing . i remember when i was in 5th class a Digital watch was a thing to kill for.
even the mighty busa had a supposedly boring looking speedo some time back .
3 lakhs is fine ,its not as if bajaj is overpricing it . taxes are there and must be followed . live with it or become a politician and reduce them .
there are many ppl who have 3-4 lakh budgets and look for superbikes. the only option to them is buying 4-5 years old bikes and then many are not legal and are in bad state . the full legal ones are quite high even second hand . Ninja will bring peace of mind , enough power and easy avail. of spares and 3 lakhs to me seems fine. only those who dont have money are cribbing . if you can afford 2.5 then 3 is just a little higher . If there was no Ninja here the competition wont think of getting their own 250sThe movie Dhoom is loosely based on my Life

Your calculations are spot on except for just one small thing. The 140-150k cost in thailand would probably the marked up price and it must be inclusive of kawasaki's profit margins. I guess bajaj would be getting it much cheaper from kawasaki. So I think you can knock about 5-10% off your estimate.Originally posted by Sarvajit View PostPlease read the below assumptions (purely mine)&tell me does the 3 lakh figure make sense?
The price in Thailand baht itself is about 140-150,000 baht, which makes it around 2 lakhs INR.
So, add 20% for the duty charges, considering the FTA between India&Thailand, bike will be a CKD etc.etc.
Brings us to 2.4L INR.
Add a meagre 20K profit to it (I know this is more considering Bajaj will not get it at 2L INR from Kawasaki, considering their alliances&understanding for making parts for Kawasaki smaller bikes etc.) but still, that brings us to 2.6 lakhs INR.
Even if you consider this as the ex-showroom price, 2.6L : Add atleast 15% for OTR price, considering lifetax etc.formalities, that brings us to a round figure of almost 3 lakhs.
So, I look at it this way: Bajaj is selling us this product at only a 15% profit margin&taking all the other pains to get it approved, serviced etc.
I know that major amount of money is earned through service&spares, but kudos to Bajaj for bringing this product and encouraging the biking spirit for the common man in India!
Does that mean that the base price that I took was wrong and 1.4 lakh INR is not the price of ninja 250 in US? I think we must also look at purchasing power parity when comparing prices with other countries. sort of like even though McDonald's serves the same burger the world over, yet there's a huge difference between the price in India and the price in US. So much so that the price of a McD burger has almost become a pretty accurate and relevant indicator of the comparative purchasing power of a country.
And with the downturn setting in, there must be a drop in kawa's sales. I hope the biggies at kawa see this as an opportunity to boost their sales by entering a potentially huge market and so, decide to supply these babies to bajaj at a neat cut!

Right, I even mentioned that Bajaj would be getting at a lower cost than Kawa's selling price obviously, coz they have various agreements&understandings of parts etc.between them.Originally posted by hash101 View PostYour calculations are spot on except for just one small thing. I didn't consider the US price, coz we all know the bikes are coming (or rather came a year back) from Thailand!
