@ Satellite.kid: Life is much more than just top speed and drags! It's more about smiles per kilometre. Well said but shall I add that smiles per kilometre are relative to the rider not the machine. Some might prefer the hassle free performance of Japanese clone bikes while some smile at the mighty roar of historic moto guzzis despite they breakdown every few inches and then you need to take a bath in its engine oil just to get it going again.....
The point being smiles per kilometre are relative and as we cannot quantify and measure it so please can we just stop making the argument that Japanese products give more smiles/km then Indian machines as if it is "bramha satya" . I like the technical discussion as we can argue and discuss such things.
There is no doubt that ZMR being an HH product will be one hassle free, super comfy and ultra reliable machine, very much in line with the corporate values of Honda and I totally agree on this point. But why I think this bike is a big time disappointment for me is that it lacks the phenomenal trend setting styling of the previous ZMA. Also they made this product with a prior plan to continue it alongside the previous ZMA then why not go on with radical changes in the motor? Truly speaking (at fear of sounding like a conspiracy theorist
)I feel it is much of an Spledor, Super Splendor, Splendor NXG style portfolio expansion. But its just my stupid opinion!
When in doubt...... Gas it!

Given the air scoops its actually quite a logical place. [I always wondered why the P220 never had its horns beside the headlamp.]
BTW, did anyone see the reflector design of the pilots?
I'm pretty sure green leds/bulbs would make them look like a pair of leaves.
P.S.: The more I see the Bike India cover on every railway platform each day, the more the 'ZeeMeR' seems beautiful.Last edited by 46wannabe; 09-24-2009, 12:37 PM.10 Commandments:

Got the BI October Issue Yesterday. First thing did was to read the preview article on the new ZMR. One thing that surprised me is, BI's expectation of an FE of 45 kmpl in city.

IndeeedOriginally posted by Synn View PostFriend of mine sent me this image which makes the bike look quite decent. The tail section is a bit too long compared to the front for my liking, but overall, the lines flow more cohesively than say, in a P220.

@cicatrix: I never meant that the Indian bikes can't give u the smile per km factor! I said that because BlueBlitz seems to worried about ZMRs top speed and whether it would beat the other in drag or not! Hence, that is why I said , I hope i cleared my point
@insane: Do you ever wonder why R1s and the Fireblades among others are coming with FI systems for so many years now? I bet you don't! Emissions isn't the only reason for it. Rest, Kaynmantis have put it very well.

I am kind of surprised by the number of people who liked the styling..!!
I for one really think this new ZMA looks stupid, there are several basic design flaws as far as the looks are concerned. Someone above said, "But why I think this bike is a big time disappointment for me is that it lacks the phenomenal trend setting styling of the previous ZMA" and I completely agree with it.
There is nothing great to talk about in terms of performance improvement. No real increase in BHP. I would say ZMA has lost the plot compared to Yamaha. I myself own the ZMA-R and I love it for the looks and the performance because I know that the engine was designed more than a decade ago and it still performs well. However when you bring out a product in 2009 with no real improvements except some of the things (like FI) that dont really translate into real performance, then its completely inexcusable.

Where can I find BI October's issue in Hyderabad, somewhere near to Kondapur/Madhapur/Jubilee/Banjara Hills ?
Thanks!-Once human-being, now Biker.

Subtle updates that could help...
I think the selected portions of the fairing should have been finished off in black matte to give some relief to the large painted surface area of the said part. Besides that, it would also up the aggressive quotient of the front end.
What say?
Just my opnion.

That seems pretty optismistic. Maybe on an empty street at 3 in the morningOriginally posted by gideontony View Postdepends on how the rider rides it!!!
. Though I have eaten my own words before. Even if its true, then I wish HH could divert some of those FE to power instead.

Agree with you. HH would do it next year with some sticker upgrades.Originally posted by 46wannabe View PostI think the selected portions of the fairing should have been finished off in black matte to give some relief to the large painted surface area of the said part.
