  • I guess I missed lot of action in a day... (I'm having my 7th semester exams after couple of days so trying to get make friendship with books)

Finally some1 understood about what I'm speaking thank u devil pulsarian...

Hey that doesn't mean I'm trying to hurt any1 here... Actually I was enjoying the whole debate...
@Satyen... Actually those examples you gave are of small mills... very good mileage churning units... Let the be rev friendly but Y try convert them to performance units(I'm speaking in India)... I would have been extremely happy If this was used for re-Introducing P200(My Fav) Just Imagine what that beast would perform like...
Nevertheless We can't stop expecting... Hope to see this in higher litre pulsar very soon... I want to see a home company truly challenging Honda or Yamaha with true performance along with reliability...

Few posts above some1 said it would spoil Pulsar name if it was introduced 4V directly in pulsar 150 or so ... Dude point is Bajaj keeps on experimenting... They did it with DTS-i, Exhausttec, and even went to introduce FI in 220...

      • On engine as stressed member.......

In simple words: It means the engine is an integral part of the frame.
Advantage: Weight reduction and if done correctly improvement in handling too!
Now in geeky detail: In a automobile (both the 4 wheeled type and the 2 wheel type) when the engine is acting as a stressed member, the suspension loads are fed first into the gearbox and then through the engine into the chassis. In this type of engine design the block itself has to be stiff enough to cope with these suspension loads being fed into it via the gearbox end and it into the chassis at the other, otherwise bore distortion can occur. I have also read that production blocks in cars are rarely designed to be suitable for use as a stressed member but this technology is fairly common among various sports oriented designs in cars, like few Ferraris (1995 F50 was first) and F1 cars and LeMans racers. But this type of setup is fairly common in high performance bikes (like busa) and was first featured in a sunbeam in 60's (I guess ). Previously in India LML bikes used to feature this type of engines.

Engine as a stressed member? Is it? Did not notice. What kind of frame are they using then?

          Edit

The Wheel was a great invention; Two Wheels with a Motor in between was even better!

See this pic. The single downtube ends at the engine. The only other thing seen is the exhaust pipe.

            • Okay. Here comes a silly question.

If the engine as stressed member is the integral part of the frame, does it mean we cannot take out the engine? (I already said it's a silly question!)

BTW, here's the link to the test ride of this baby on ET.

Notice what Mr. Ishikawa says when asked about the biggest Pulsar getting the extra valves. NO COMMENTS.

Well, you could I guess. But what for? Repair or replacement of the engine would anyway confine the bike to the garage...

I did notice that. But that did not entirely convince me. What I would like to see is the place where the engine is bolted on. I would also like to see the shape of the frame. However if what everybody is saying about the engine is true, at best it would be similar to the structure of the Bullet frame which will certainly improve the handling of this particular bike.

But all said and done, I think we would all like to see the complete disappearance of downtubes. Like they did in the R15. See how that one handles! Here we have a small single mill with a 4V. Engine-wise, that itself has been path-breaking for an Indian manufacturer. If they manage to get in a twin spar, that would be fantastic!

You cannot try to swim in a single day. 135 segment is fast growing in to a commuter segment and hence more 135ls will sell. More the bikes, more will be the feedback and data accquistion.

Dont compare Flame in to this. I have never seen any where like six bikes go kaupt within an hour of practise session in MMST.It was one pathetic bike.

Stop cribbing and wait. Am actually happy that Bajaj is in the right direction. Engine as a stressed member. i Just want to take this baby for a spin in track and check how this kid handles. If this tech is a success(in LS), then you can see it one other Pulsars as well.
                        machi nee innum enna purunjukala.................

wat i supposed to say is that they r not the first to put 2 plugs in multi valve.............

this is a marketing gimmic.... i like to revel & share the info which is not being known to most of the population

the 2 plug tech is not the first to put up by bajaj it as been copied from BMW, moto guzzi.............if these guys put a case on bajaj they cannot wake ups for decades................

the other thing is 4V with 2 plug is also not a first it being used by BMW boxer type engines....................

these all r bigger bros but the one thing is housing these items in smaller place & which is not even a big thing for chinese manfu..............chinna kolantha kuda seiyum............

if the internal cycle parts r not made with quality even ur R15 go kaput.................so do not compare the tech with the quality

the RTR & pulsars doesn't exprienced these sort of things that's b'coz of the bigger co influence (u may accept r may not accept, but this is the truth)

wat ever the product thrown at us being brought by us hence do not say that all good bikes will sell well that to with these many gimmics we all will fall for that..........

tell me the reason y the bike like GF's, LML's, honda uni (just bit) haven't made the bright day for the manu do u know y the reason is the markting gimmics...............

the bike selling in no's r not good & vice versa

flame is a commuter bike which should be riden in less than 7500rpm if u ride it in close to red line for an hour that too in a track & u will say that it couldn't take a lil abuse......

com man this is not nice....................
