    How can 2.83 BHP make a bike go to 100km/hr

      Clever engineering. These bikes have a ribbon thin powerband and make clever use of the gear ratios to reach some crazy speeds.
      Having ridden a similar example, I can vouch for the crazy speeds that these little devils can achieve.

      • What you are saying is understandable in the case of Pocket bikes, but this is different.

        R50 = 128 Kg
        R15 = 131 Kg

        • when i see this thread i feel really sad. every one wants to see something happening in the market. but nothing is getting launched. but still we keep speculating with never ending optimism. this is the true spirit of hard core bikers.
          superbikes are the biggest blunders on indian roads.

                    The bike in stock condition makes 2.83 bhp guys but after loads of mods on this bike it can cross 136 kmph according to a video in youtube. BTW guys so now guys who are 16 + can also ride on Indian roads . I am so very eager to know what about the mileage.
                    We Bikers are not those who ride to commute , But the ones who commute to ride

                    • Just because a website says it makes 2.83 bhp does not mean it is correct.
                      I found a link: http://www.50cc-motorcycles.com/cgi-....pl?bike_id=59
                      Also see the TZ 50 specs: http://www.50cc-motorcycles.com/cgi-....pl?bike_id=57

                      Whatever the specs, when we all know this is not coming here then why keep going on and on about it?

                        AFAIK, there is no such rule in INDIA which permits the license on the basis of Displacement. Even a normal license holder can ride a SBK here.

                        • just read in bikeindia the hyosung gt650r (seems better equipped than ninja 650R) & the st7 coming to india in nov-dec 2010.

                            There is buddy, Please go confirm in the RTO. I know people who have had these licenses riding mopeds under 50cc . The rule is there. But hardly people know about it because there are hardly any mopeds under 50cc.

                              Do you mean riding a high CC bike needs a special license? as far i know there's license for gearless scooters and for gear bikes... there is no such license for high CC bikes AFAIK...

                                Correct. When i was 16, I obtained a license for my TVS 50, which I used to commute to school and back. I still have that license. On the back it states "MCW" which roughly translates to Motorcycle Without Gear. But its meant for 50cc and under vehicles. The regular two wheeler license says "MCWG" on the back.
