  • re: Dustom's Turbocharged Harley 1250

Finally settled down into my new job in Bhiwadi. Got my self a place to live and park. After almost entire month of no riding , going to bring my bike here this week end. I have missed riding every day, looking forward to regular weekend rides from bhiwadi to Haridwar. This would help me tank up some miles as well.

Travelled from Haridwar to bhiwadi (rajesthan).
@ 300km. Traffic in and around NCR was such a killer. It took me 3 whole hours just to cross delhi.

Anyway just before starting from Haridwar I installed Screaming Eagle spark plugs.
I had to get new plugs any way as one of them was broken due to a cricket ball hitting it.
For the time being I managed with spark plug from CBZ.
So Instead of buying stock ,I went for Se plugs.
Damn! What a difference it made.
Bike is so much smoother. I don't think it made a difference to power or may be a small one but bike is definitely smoothen out under acceleration and high speeds.
May be Increased Compression responded to higher temp spark better .

Good to know you brought your ride to Bhiwadi bro! And now that you have Screamin Eagle Spark plugs, how are they different from the stock spark plugs? Are they made of some different materials compared to stock ones. Curious to know!

So you want to give your sporty a 'bobber make over' with the 3 inch tank lift

Yes Se spark plugs are different from normal ones. They have Iridium central electrode ( just like some plugs from NGK & Bosch etc)
It offers lower resistance and dissipate heat much faster . also Heat jacket is of different shape and size on SE plugs. Keeping thebplug tip cooler and resisting Detonation.
It is specifically mentioned on package that these plugs are Ideal for running Rich AFR( Usual Race configuration )and resist Fouling
However for a stock motor , they are not going to offer much advantage. For High AFR and Higher Compression they seems to be pretty good.

Not Exactly a Bobber look, but I have always found Motorcycles synonymous to a Horse.
High Neck, ached back and protruding behind.
Raised Tank gives it that Flowing High Neck line.
            Loud and Proud.

              Hi Dustom,

I will be getting my Superlow very soon, I have asked for the GC uplift kit from Capital HD, but they dont have the parts as of now, which after I have read through your posts, I now feel is a boon in disguise. I will contact you as soon as I have the Superlow to help me raise the GC.

              take care,

Do not install anything from showroom until you have researched at least for a month and unable to find any alternative. In most cases people find out too late that some one has a better alternative.
Same cannot be said for chrome parts from HD, no one in India is duplicating HD chrome quality anytime soon in India.

Thank you for that explanation bro. As always information certainly helps. And the analogy you gave for tank rise is pretty adventurous I am waiting to ride your 1250 cc horse soon.

So , today met Saurav, with his spanking new 2015 Superlow.
He was here to get the GC kit installed. Whole process took about an half an hour. Since I don't have luxury of my own garage here in Bhiwadi. I spoke to a Bridge stone tyre dealer , if I could work in his shop for half an hour.
So here he is on a great bike , free from paralysis Harley engineers gave it.

We will wait for Saurav to show up and give his feedback. So that others can benefit or I can improve my engineering.

I am next on the list sir. This is a 'must do' mod for the SL.

I already have your kit ready, its for you to find sone time.
Anyway I did sauravs bike and came to know that front brake hose has been changed over the years by Harley.
My bike has a solid steel tube brake line, but newer bikes have flexi hose.
So slight modification needs to be made in installation process. Don't worry I have got it covered too.
Also after installation in sauravs bike , I went through the whole process , and realised that I had left one small nut without tightening. Side effect of rushing the installation.
Told that to Saurav over phone but by then he had reached home. Now that nut has fallen off.

Although it isn't a critical fastener , but it would require him to visit a nearby shop or dealership and probably spend extra 100 buck( going by Harley parts cost standards).

Apart from that he loved my Exhaust sound as well and wanted me to do up the mufflers as well. That would involve removing exhaust from bike and probably one whole day.
                        So that's postponed to future.

                          Hi,

I am enjoying my Superlow with the increased GC, it really helps and takes your mind of GC while driving. Thanks dustom_99.

I have got the missing nut fitted, costed me Rs. 10. No worries. Now you better start working on the mufflers )

                          Thanks,

Yes Bro, it's that time of the year, less riding, more office work taking the front seat as of now till a few more days. Will be taking time off and co-ordinate with you shortly.

Guess will need to start legal proceedings.
