      Hi Rxboy,

A1. Do you want to differentiate the RX100 electrical system 6v and 12 v by looking only stickers graphics? ok all RX100 with 2 thin outline sticker graphics came with 6V electrical system. only the last batch came with multi strips sticker graphics came with 12 V electrical.

A2. Hopefully only one sticker pattern for 10 years 1985-95 and two more patterns at 95-96.

Hi Rxboy, the pictures posted are very very helfpul for you to identify. From what i remember when RX100 was introduced in 1985 it came in three colours
        a) Red with twin gold stripes
        b) Blue with twin white stripes
        c) Silver with twin blue stripes.
the blue and silver were there till around 1991 and from 1989 onwards the black gold which is the black with twin gold stripes started coming out. Then in late 1991/early 1992 with the blue and silver vanishing three new patters came in
        a) maroon with twin gold stripes
        b) silver with blue and red graphics
        c) Black metallic with red and white graphics. apart from these the red with twin gold stripes and the black with twin gold stripes as well continued till 1995. From 1995 November onwards the bikes started coming with 12V electricals and at that time only four colours were available

        a) Black with twin gold stripes
        b) Black with red and white graphics
        c) The new graphics which Sriram has posted above.
        d) Maroon with twin red graphics
This was there till May 1996( that was the time when the last batch of RX100 orders taken till end of March 1996 were delivered) and they all moved way for RXG. From my memory these last batches from 1995 November started coming with the oil tank level indicator like that of the RXG/RX135 unlike the needle which gives the level.

In all these years there were change in the bore series as well. The bikes that came in till 1987 had the 'Made in japan' stamping near the gear shifter. All the initial batch bikes had the meters marked with 'Rajdoot' and then in 1987 bikes for some time had 'Yamaha' marking which changed to 'Escorts' from 1989 which was again changed back to 'Yamaha' in 1995 and continued there after.

The carbs till 1988 were mikuni and then it got changed to micarb which as well continued till when RXG came in. In RXG the initial batches had the made in japan stamping for the carbs.

All the initial batches had metal keys marked as 'Yamaha' which got changed to the ones with 'Black caps' in 1989 and back to the metal keys with 'Escorts' marked from 1991. This continued till early 2000s when Yamaha changed it to the ones with black caps.

Now the last batch of RX100s from November 1995 onwards as well had the tool box or some locking box like the RXG/RX135 which is below the right side panel above the swing arm shaft.

How i know i have my beloved 1995 october the last batch of 6V electrical one from day1 with me and also based on the info i have seen in my cousin's RX100 which he owns from 1986. To be honest its very difficult to identify a bike based on the cosmetics...rather if you are getting a RX100 get the bike and get a full electrical upgrade to 12V which will give you peace of mind.

^Jayakrishnan - Awesome information for many on the legend. Also, would like to clarify that Mikuni 'Made in Japan' carb 36L00 came out till 1993 if I'm not wrong. (That's what in my bike). Also, I've seen the pre-1991 bike's carb where it would have 'JAPAN' etched on the 2T inlet side.

Sriram you are right even in my carb I find 'Made In Japan' it is also a 1993 RX 100.. When I was searching a RX100 for my friend I cam across a 1994 RX100 in which the words were missing in the carb....

Here Comes My bikes with stock Metallic Black red and white stripes it is still in stock colors (no repainting done)

@rxfan,sriram,vijay,dinesh,jayakrishna.thanks guys, you people are genious.i showed the image of black rx100 with red and white strip to my mechanic he said these batches along with multy colour strip one were 12v rx,he also told me that the one with red+white strip was also available in silver colour and they were introduced in last quarter of 1994 and produced till 2nd quarter of 1995,after that multy colour strip and other graphics took place, not only this rx100 were had 2-3 more graphics besides the picture uploaded by rxfan, but they were produced in small numbers, thus they are rarely seen.i am asking this because i had seen an rx100 with red and black strip with a dhabhawala(desi restaurant) but till now i had not asked from him about selling the bike because i am saving some money and feeling some scare asking him,i don't know what he will reply.so guys please pray for me and tell how to convince him,and the checklists while buying and rx100,and one more thing guys you people had solved my queries on 12v system at some extent and i am feeling bit relaxed.thanks again.

You might need to create a rapport before you approach him to ask if he's selling. Remember, he might even sound pricy, not interested even VERY courteous (ironic). You'll need to carry yourself better to avoid embarrasment.

On the checklist while buying RX100?:- Oh! list will go on for ever, short cut is, take a person who knows RX simple. Even if we all spend some amount of time giving the pointers, nothing like experienced guy taking a look at it.

surely will scratch his head LOL !!
ok people i dint know where to post this ..
now the problem is i have 2 yammis 1. RX 100 2. RX 135 five speed
when i ride my rx 135 it is a very smooth and fast ride. reaching 70km/h is hardly noticeable and have to slow down to avoid challans. there is no vibration or engine noise etc..
but when i ride my 100 ..after crossing 50km/h speed it seems the bike is making a great effort its goes fast but seems its working hard and it seems i cud change another gear but sadly there is none left to change ..there no smoothness like the 5 speeder..
so my question is that are RX 100 like this or do we get a smooth ride in 4th gear ..Help!

Ofcourse RX100 is smooth even at 80 kmph. Check your engine compression. I think your engine is not giving enough power. Clean the carbeurator and air filter.Tune the engine with the help of a good tuner.

Yes it is smooth, but in comparison to an RX135, its not. RX135 is has a highly refined engine. But again a lot depends on the state of tune.

Lastly dont compare your 100 with 135 5-speed, they are 2 totally different machines.

Thanks for the replies vimalnair4u and karthikdattag.. i guess i need to ride some other Rx 100 too..to compare maybe.. i agree that 5 speed is a completely different machine ..but i guess RX 100 doesn't ride like its dragging like mine does as suggested by vimalnair4u will go to the tuner ..thanks again

Just to explain in simple words Since i hardly know the technical bits...when even riding in 4th gear it feels like im riding at a high speed in 2nd gear..so thats the problem
