  • Re: Frequently Asked Questions (Yamaha RX Series)

I am not sure if it is worth the hassle to re-register an expired RC in another state. Another point is that you say that the owner has no contacts in the registered town. In that case, it will be very difficult to obtain NOC from the police in that town. Better hunt for an RX in Bangalore itself.

Need your guidance regarding an old RX135 that I am evaluating to buy, here in Bangalore.

It is UP registered with expired RC, bike is in Bangalore, so is the owner. He has no contacts in the town where it is originally registered.
Now, how do I go about - RC renewal, transferring ownership, Insurance etc - while being here ?
      How much legwork, cost etc.

Btw, am currently rebuilding my 1996 KB100 RTZ, thread here - http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/thumpers...d-restore.html
Loving doing all the work myself, so essentially planning my next project.

      Regards
till the time the previous owner doesnt re-do the RC it wont be transferred to another owner. above all a re-issue of RC in another satae wont be possible and will only be a head ache

Thank you guys. I thought so too.
In Bangalore RX prices are stupid. And I need a beater to do my DIY hobby stuff.

        cheers

Guys, where can I find the entire nut and bolt kit and the allen bolt kit for the engine side covers for the RX 135 4 speed? Which battery do you guys suggest I use for the bike?

P.S. I am located in Mumbai, but I am fine with shipping.

Mechanical tacho - requires good workmanship, care to be taken not to invite any leaks and other precision involved.

Electronic tacho - requires a digital CDI. Then a classic pulsar tacho is a quick installation to the tacho out from the CDI.

For the mechanical tacho, you can get a rxz tacho worm kit, install it, get a new rxz meter set and use it. Alternatively you can get a used rxz clutch cover with the worm installed.

For electronic you can use a shogun or pulsar tacho. Connect the tacho to the ht coil pulse and you are in business.

Digital cdi is required for digital tachos that run on 12v dc power. Like the rtr and fz tacho.

                        I recomend the rxz tacho.

i am not running a tacho , there shouldnt be any fluctuations as there are filter circuits usually built into the tacho

I think RXZ or Shogun/Shaolin Or KB100/125 tachos can be fitted. But not sure about the pulsar tachos. Since the pulse generating from 2 strokes are different from 4 strokes. So It wont show exact reading.

Yes you can install LED bulbs for all indicators as well as the speedometer console also. For this Holder also has to be changed. These LED's are called T10 LED's. SO you have to buy T10 Holders too. As of now, its very difficult to get these holders. So you have to buy a used or new Speedo console light harness of Pulsar or any new Bikes which use T10 bulbs/LED's and cut the holders from that with wire. You have to join or solder it to you current wiring to get it working.

You get led indicator plug and play bulbs. No need to change holders. Look for them in fancy bike parts stores (places that sell led strips, fancy grips etc)

All rx tachos were mechanical. So the cdi shouldnt have a tacho out. You have to splice wires to connect a electronic tacho. I say go for a z set up as it preserves the originality of the design.
