6 Speed? RX ever came with 6S in India? Or the parts are being borrowed from Malaysian / other region spec?

Rx was always 5speed. Only the rxz 6spd was there and it was derived from the brazilian rd125 rather than the rx platform. The gearbox from the 6 speed z is not a direct fit on our rx.

What about RX100 5S that binshad mentioned. Rx100 was always 4S, right!

Yes, there is no 5speed rx100. But since it shares the same gearbox with rxg it can be easily converted to a 5speed. Infact, as far as I know, apart from the Indian 100, all other versions were 5 speed.

Hello friends...i bought a 1995 rx100 and getting it restored myself. Friends i have a lot of issues and need ur precious advise.

              1. I am not able to know that on what voltage is my byk currently working. Is there a method to determine it as it was not having the battery to guess from..

              2. When i bought the byk, its engine is producing knocking sound as if something is loose and rubbing other parts. I enquired with a mechanic, he said it is the piston and crankshaft but he said that just add more 2t oil and dont care bout that. But i want to get rid of the annoying sound. So i opened up the engine but found nothing printed on the underside of piston to determine its size or brand..is there another way to determine it..??

              3. Which piston shud i go for if it needs replacement. Is MAHLE best ..?? Or as the mechanic was saying SAM piston is better..??

              4. The oil pump was also leaking. I opened it and using internet diagrams inspected everypart and got to know that the gasket and large spring needs replacement. Are they readily available or i have to purchase the complete pump..??

Apart from this one more problem is there. The earlier used piston is (as i guess) a low quality one and it has only two figures written on the top and they are equally confusing. I dont know how to read them (as 060 or 090). Please help me understand and what does it mean as yamaha piston comes
                In only 25, 50, 75 and 100.

Voltage can be determined with a multimeter by checking the batery terminals or the coils. Although I am not sure how to do it. Better get it to an electrician and let him handle it.

I am not sure what piston you are running. Get a mahle piston. Measure the block in a ledh shop and find out what oversize you need.

Regarding oil pump, change the gaskets and oil seals and see if that stops the leak. If the pump is working properly then good. Or else change it.

its 060, it probably means, its third over size , any way take it to a reboring shop and ask them for their opinion first before buying a new piston

Yamaha 2t pump has got two oil seals one small and one large change both of them, this will stop the leak,on pistons mahle is now owned by Goetze so you will only get goetze pistons, piston markation is bit confusing, when the piston sits in the cylinder the arrow mark goes towards exhaust ports,so put it that way and read, it wil read 060 i think it is second o/s as it is close the oe specification of 50no. (that's a guess) , or take the piston to some lathe shop or reboring place and they will tell you,(attaching a photo of piston dimension hope it helps)

Thank you kb10 and kusmaker...i will consult the lathe shop as suggested.

As i am going to paint my rx100 in coming days ..i want to ask you that when the engine side panels are painted, then is there hardener also used or just paint. And kindly suggest good quality paint and hardener.

And as i am going for the 4th oversize, can u tell me that is it going to cause some balancing issues of the crankshaft or it will work as good as 1st oversize.

there wont be any balancing issues while using 4th os pistons

Use metallic paint of 3m or Asian paints with clear coat after paint, you can also use polyester based clear coat(if you can get it) for extra reliability, do get your side panels painted through baking process, on balancing point what kb has said is true.

                              3. Urethane
                              4. Water based

Which paint i shud go for...??

Apart from this how is the quality of nippon paint as compared to asian paint...??

I will say go for water based paint, most of the modern car manufacturers are using water based paints these days.Synthetic based paints or alkyd paints have very high no of toxic chemicals, which gets relesed into the atmosphere at the time of drying, by using water based paints you will be environm. also, although water based paints takes more time to dry.
