  • Re: Frequently Asked Questions (Yamaha RX Series)

hi All, i recently rebored my rxz 5speed, it ran 2100km after rebore, initially after rebore it used to give mileage of 37, but now its giving only 25km. i took byke to mechanic who did the bore work. he checked the mileage by filling a 100ml into bottle and connecting it to oli pipe (after drying out petrol in carburator). and it gave mileage for around 3.4 km for 100ml.

but when i fill in the petrol of 6.4 liter its giving mileage of 165km (it take approx 7-8 days for me to complete 165 km).

can any one of you let me know what could have been the problem.

    thanks

how can we make the fuel rich in rx135,even the ideal adjustment of air screw is given in owners manual,it doesnt give idea about how to turn the screw to make it richer or leaner?clockwise or anticlockwise?
        directions will be highly helpful

You can fit the bell with rx100 basket and center. But you will loose 1 friction and 1 steel plate which will result in loss of usable power.

I bought a RX king gear box. After inspection, my mechanic says that the gear box is worn out a little and will make rattling noise. I was unable to understand exactly what he means?

What are symptoms and indications of a unconditioned gearbox. What would be the consequences if I still proceed to install it. (the price I got that for was really good and does not feel like return it back.) Any help here please?

Well, I'm not able to see the pics at office. But my bothering question is, why RXKing gear box????? I'm sad that many go get tempted of fancy words and parts flashed at them and eventually fall prey to those opportunists but don't realize that the speed is not always on the gearbox but beyond. Now some words to encourage(Ironic) you. As long as you crave for more and more from the moped, there are many out there for with spare parts to deceive and disappoint.
Looking at the RXK gear box ratio, except for the first couple of gears all the other gear ratio are the same as Indian 5 speed if I could recall correct. The last 3 gears are 26, 24, 22, whereas 4 speed has 26 and 23.

the gear set you posted is an extremely worn out pair , if you go ahead and plonk it into your bike you will have an extremely noisy engine due to the backlash between the gears , best bet will be to avoid it ,

I wanted a stronger initial pull and so I opted for this. Secondly I was unable to find a decent priced 5 speed gear box. People were quoting 8 - 8.5k for a used gearbox.

I am returning it back as per your advice. Just hoping that I could get a better gearbox in a good price

Can anyone help me in the differences between a 5 speed gear box and a 5 speed conversion kit. Will there be any performance differences and are gear ratios different?

Most of the shop keepers and mechanics I come across states that a conversion kit is problematic and tends to become notchy very soon. Please advice.

conversion kit is an aftermarket job and comes with the minimum parts required to convert a 4 speed to 5 , it is made in delhi with softer metal and almost no heat treatment to the finished pars , they tend to wear out soon , your best bet will be to source a new full 5 speed gear assly
