Re: Frequently Asked Questions (Yamaha RX Series)
It would be hard to ride in Indian traffic mind you. What you are trying to do, i already have done. So trust me, you would be much happier with an indian 5sp gb.Originally posted by Nilay View PostFirst i will search for Indonesian 5sp GB. 4th and 5th gears are similar from these box but first three gears are very different.

Re: Frequently Asked Questions (Yamaha RX Series)
First of all i have to overcome with overheating issue. So i need VM26SS first. Also i don't have compression gauge so will check the compression out side with my 3KA20 bore plus 4TL5 Head setup.

Ok. How is the top end with indian 5-sp GB. Also should i go with conversion kit or Full new GB ?Originally posted by Bibhu View PostIt would be hard to ride in Indian traffic mind you. What you are trying to do, i already have done. So trust me, you would be much happier with an indian 5sp gb.

Re: Frequently Asked Questions (Yamaha RX Series)
Overheating is mostly because you are running an Indian 4sp cdi made for a lower port on an rxk block which has a much higher exhaust port, thus making the timing advanced and in the end overheating the block. The solution to this is to either switch to a rxk or rdd cdi set up and properly time the bike.Originally posted by Nilay View PostFirst of all i have to overcome with overheating issue. Last i checked my bike toped out at about 130 on the speedo. Mind you, i used to weigh about 128kgs back then...
There are no more new kits available, the best thing you can do is to find a good condition used gb.

Re: Frequently Asked Questions (Yamaha RX Series)
Is there any difference between NGK BPR7HS and NGK BPR8HS sparkplug. 4speed has former plug while RXKing has latter plug.

Re: Frequently Asked Questions (Yamaha RX Series)
It will be too cold for RX application, even in an RD running non RDD setup the plugs will run extremely cold, now for the ones who don't know what this means, a spark plug has a heat range where in it performs the best, this is denoted by the number in the plug, higher number rating means colder plug, means higher operating temperature.Originally posted by Bibhu View PostIdeally bp8hs shd be used. Now you might think that's a good thing to have a colder plug, Well no!
This is why, as I mentioned each plug has a operating temperature and a self cleaning mechanism which only get activated in its right operating temperature. If this self cleaning does not happen, there will be excessive carbon deposits and the plug will stop firing.
So why don't we use plugs with extremely low heat rating?
Well when the engine runs it reaches certain temperature, if its higher than the plug's operating temperature it will melt the plug, which would mean it will misfire and stop firing ultimately, worst case, might damage the internals.
Use the recommended ratings, For rx series a 5 plug is recommended by the factory so use that, can go up to 6, but never 7 or 8.
Hope I have explained it clearly.

Re: Frequently Asked Questions (Yamaha RX Series)
Bp8hs is equavalent of w5bc from mico. Every yamaha 2t including the rd came with bp7hs, and internationally had bp8hs, all suzuki and kinetic 2ts came with bp8hs.Originally posted by yam View PostIt will be too cold for RX application, even in an RD running non RDD setup the plugs will run extremely cold, now for the ones who don't know what this means, a spark plug has a heat range where in it performs the best, this is denoted by the number in the plug, higher number rating means colder plug, means higher operating temperature.

Re: Frequently Asked Questions (Yamaha RX Series)
hope someone can give me solution.the problem is ,while kick starting my rx,some sound of air suction is produced from engine .its like..."chikk"
.im not sure whether air flows inwards or outwards.its like the sound of compressed air discharging through small nozzle.the cylinder head is perfectly tightened and the manifolds too.petrol tank is rust free and there is no chance for clogging in carb.there is no problem in running even at high speeds.
im worried that if there is some block or leakage in the air supply system..hopefully waiting for your reply.

Check the carburettor hose and the air filter box for any leaks

Re: Frequently Asked Questions (Yamaha RX Series)
It could be a leak from the exhaust manifold . If its from the silencer it could mean a retarded ignition, bad spark plug or bad fuel. Check if the magnet is tightened right .Originally posted by aarex 1 3 5 View Posthope someone can give me solution.the problem is ,while kick starting my rx,some sound of air suction is produced from engine .its like..."chikk"
