+1. Thats definitely a good idea. Just to have many well maintained RXs all in one snap, its worth it. And imagine recording a video of ~10-12 (atleast) RXs together and playing it on a sub

    Gulgul is your friend.

In dry season if the bike is dusted daily and QDed atleast once a week, it will easily last 4 months. Not just that, very little of it needs to be applied which means your bottle is going to last atleast for two years.

Coming to the hernia, yes these days an endoscopic surgery is commonly performed and one can safely go for it if indicated and adviced.
Thank You, for your advice on both the topics. By the fork inner you mean the springs?? Surprisingly the dust cap stays there!!

There is a lot of difference between the members in this forum and me. Most of the guys here have more than one bike or at some point of time were proud owners of this machine. RX always amazed me right from my school days...To me this is my first bike and i am very comfortable with this bike. Thats why i spent this much money on it and i wish to keep this in pristine condition as long as i can ride a bike. So instead of buying a new generation bike i thought of rebuilding it from A to Z and here is the result.

Front foot rest rubber seems different. Any reason why you opted for this over the usual RX ones?

Clutch & brake levers seem to be different...what make is that

Also, for a nice stock looking bike like this, I have would have preferred butterfly crash guard and remove that handle kind of thing above the rear silencer side shock. I once rode pillion on a bike with that fitment and it scarred me

It looks really good and I would advise you to buy paint sealant (I use Collinite 845) and apply atleast 3 coats.

Happy RXing and thank you for treating our eyes with this beauty

The neutral switch cap came along with the new magneto. The one you thought, gifted me with a very rare part. the Tank Lock pin. Will put the picture later!!
Front foot rest belongs to Crux, but this is the one i got when i bought the rubber kit. So i just used it.
Clutch and Brake lever is of Gladiator, since i have gone for the front disc setup.
The butterfly crash guard was there just didnt buy, to keep it simple. Butterfly crash guard would have added more bling
The ladies grip( thats what the shop keeper told) i didnt fit initially, but when i saw a good quality grip i just bough one. This one is having a rubber coating on it( Actually it is not a coating its something like a sleeve)
Yup may be i will get my collinite next month. For the time being i am planning to buy some other polish as i dont want to get scratches and polish later

Thank You Sree!! It was a real pain collecting the parts, but right now i am just sitting back and relaxing.

You are very right, Yamaha is having their major revenue from this RX parts than from new bikes as prices of Rx spares come in premium category!!

if you wish i can give you the RX135 style OE front footrest rubbers.

What a relase statergy it was supposed to be a 2012 model but you relased itat 2013..

      sorry for the OT

As Doc mentioned fork seems to be quite long. can any one confirm the RX fork main tube dimension... since gladiator has 565mm long maintube.
Thank you for your kind words, i have a second rubber kit with me ,its the round type footrest rubber in it.
I too thought of doing the same. Even after collecting the parts it took more than one month just to assemble as everything was done at home. The mechanic used to come only whenever he is free or on holidays

You were lucky enough to own a brand new Yamaha from the showroom. Unlucky poor soul here did all kind of weird things to make one just like that!!

Will be great if you can share details about the total time and cost incurred ..

I will scan all bills and will do a detailed write up when i get time. In brief All the parts were collected over a time period of 6 months. Cost (including the old bike) i could have bought a R15 or if i stretch the budget a little bit a KTM duke !!

                            • Hi all I will continue this thread with my ownership experience of the bike.
                              First ride
Well I didn't have a bike and this is my first bike. I haven't ridden bikes extensively like most of you here Even I took the license very late.
So this is no way a well written ownership experience. To add up everything I am not at all a good writer.
The sweetest moment was the first time the engine roared to life. The whole thing was assembled in the house. Within a few seconds the thick blue smoke with its characteristic smell of burned 2T oil filled the room. All the windows and doors were opened and a table fan was placed near the exhaust to drive out the smoke. All the tension was relived. Thank God at last the engine started.

After a quick check of everything the bike was taken out for the road test.
Things left out were the installation of front brake hose and crash guard. After kick starting the motor the bike was taken slowly to a less used road.
Though the engine didn't gave me any complaints the gear shifts were a nightmare. I couldnt properly shift the gears. The mechanic rode the bike for the rest of the time.
The shifts were hard and sometimes its very difficult to shift from 3rd to 4th and I had to shift with out engaging the clutch. The mechanic told its because all the parts were new.
A few days after I took the bike for a spin. Currently i am in my running in period. Oil used is Mak 2T 40 ml per litre.
I am not sure but I think the engine is getting hot. Or am I just feeling it.
What is the ideal method to check whether the engine is getting excessively hot???
Other than checking the spark plug for a lean burning engine. Is there any method to check whether the Engine overheating???

                              Some of the happy moments...
The bike is getting too much attention mainly because of the disc brakes plus the bling of chrome and paint. A few guys when I stopped the bike at signal asked where I did the painting? Another one asked me if the bike was new!!!
To say the truth I am afraid to park outside due to the enormous attention it is getting.

After riding for about 250 kms the shift got smoother and its getting better as more kilometers are clocked.
Did the first oil change at 500 km. drained the old Yama Lube and poured the new Yama lube. The old oil had become dark and turbid in colour. The Gear shifts are getting better and better. I love my ride really.
Slowly my confidence with the bike is increasing. The longest distance I have covered with this bike is 130 KMS. ( to and fro).
                              To be continued ...
