From my experience I feel only old time Yamaha dealers are the only ones dealing in RX parts. New dealers don’t want to neither stock nor trade 2 stroke parts. Same with rebuild cause they don’t want to store the bike for long waiting for spares to arrive etc...and they don't have 2 stroke mechanics also

Both of you are cent percent correct. The new Yamaha dealers don't like people asking for RX parts. They take an order after putting a lot of pressure. They are busy dealing with FZ and R1. Some guys give sneer look at people who ask for RX parts as if RX was made by some other company.

@ sathishg so why not Michelin for both front and rear???

You can use Michelin both front and back for more details Ram aka Dual Disc 200 can provide because his bike runs with the similar setup ....

Michelin at front and rear is a good combination. I already have Michelin at front. Its been 3-4 years and no issues at all and have a good grip. I am also buying new michelin Sirac for both front and rear.

Even I had the same experience from a Yamaha Authorised dealer in Malad. They were not ready for Engine rebuild or providing me any parts for RX series. That guy told me to sale my RX for scrap and buy a New Yamaha So and so new Bikes. I literally asked that guy to take his FZ and race with me on my RX on that Engine rebuild condition. If he wins, I will sale my Yamaha and will buy FZ, or if I win, He will have to do a complete rebuild of my RX with all OEM parts for which I can pay. For my surprise he was not even ready for that . I went to the manager and told him, If they cant give me parts, just tell that, DOnt try to make F***y comments on my bike.

Yes, I run on Sirac Street on both the Front & Rear front being 2.75 x 18" & Rear 3.00 x 18". Just one word, awesome Smoothness, grip wise it's okay. Not that great nor that bad on the rear.

Man, i really appreciate your patience in waiting for getting all the parts. It also amazes me that yamaha are still able to provide parts for a bike that was stopped production quite some time back.
Keep updating here. Would love to know how things go by.

You are right, there was a time when college students used modified RX with parts like meter stripped off, big headlights, yezdi tyres, Chopped off grab rail for the RD look and above all, the core of silencer cut off to make the bike scream at its max.
Those days are gone i think. Now everybody wants the stock look.
Its really a blessing that Yamaha still providing parts. Maybe they are making more revenue out of these yesteryear beauties than the new models, considering the price of RX spares.

The amount of effort and money you are putting into this build is really commendable. Im waiting to see the completed bike.

btw. some of the pics on the previous pages are not showing up anymore. Would be great if you could check/reupload them. Thanks.
