Very nice restoration, the painter indeed has done a good job.

P.S: Please get rid of the 'yeis' sticker. Our models had only a black strip instead.

Yeah bro. quite a few of us in this community feel the same. Fuel injection would make it more efficient too, so there really is no downside but our government and general public thinks 2 strokes are polluters and that idea has sunk in deep.

Yeah I actually meant to ask my mechanic why he had put that sticker there but I realized maybe its because it comes as part of the sticker kit. Anyway I am gonna get it covered with a black film sticker.

      Thanks guys

Hearty congratulations my brother once again, and will wait for your runin update.
Thank you brother. I've always believed in doing a job right or not doing it at all. I still have to see if I can find the original kick starter and there is a small stickering job left to do which I'll take care of tomorrow. but overall the bike runs freer than before and now it even runs straight coz I got the frame straightened. Mostly I am happy I could keep most of the original parts. Anyway I will surely keep everyone posted.

        Hey Guys,

This is the first run in update. 100kms since the full restoration and I have to say the engine sounds better already and has gotten peppier and faster. Though I am not supposed to ride over the speed of 40kmph as advised by my mechanic, I have taken her upto 70kmph twice now. There was no seizure and no overheating issue (which is a good sign since it means the mechanic fitted the piston and rings correctly into the bore and that they are now seated right. Everywhere I go I get looks from people. some have even gone so far as to ask me about the bike while we were still in traffic moving at speed, others ask me about all the details whenever/wherever I stop the bike.
The bike used to make me happy earlier but now it makes me proud as well so kudos to my mechanic and his painter for that. But no project is without bloopers, The mechanic forgot to connect the front brake to the tail lamp so the brake light doesn\\\'t work when I use my front brake and the high and low beam connections are reversed somehow so the light points up in low beam and down in high beam (it affects nothing but is a bit of a nuisance). However, these are fixable issues and I intend to get them corrected when the bike goes for a wash and wax polish job. I also intend to get security license plates for it.
That\\\'s all for now folks, will keep you posted as run in progresses. I can\\\'t wait to hit the 500kms mark.

Hello bro, It\'s always relaxing to know that the assembled engine is working as it should work, so it\'s a good news, though the 100kms running is very minimum i believe, once the engine crosses 1000kms mark the engine will settle into more proper rhythm.

People always admire Rx-100 and are very eager to know about the bike particularly if it\'s restored or if they see an Rx-100 in a good condition, like yesterday i was standing on a red light and a man next to me on his Yamaha Sz-rr asked me that whether yamaha has again launched this bike i said no this is 20 yrs old vehicle, he couldn\'t believe his eyes that how come a 20 yr old vehicle is in new like shape, and this admiration of other people makes you feel very happy.

As I mentioned in my post bro, this is just the first running in update and that is why I chose to write about reaching the 100kms mark. The next update will be at the 250kms mark. At that point I'll do the full write up review of all spares changed during overhaul.
I was asked this same question on the very day I got the bike home. I was stopped by a pan shop when a guy comes over and eagerly asks which showroom I got the bike from. Broke my heart seeing his reaction when I told him its 28years old. He honestly thought the bike had been relaunched. That is the thing with this bike, it is such a joy to own and ride that even today people wish they could have one.

Waiting eagerly for your next update bro, this bike always break many hearts, most of the time whenever a passerby sees an Rx-100 in good condition they think yamaha has again launched the bike, all of us are simply lucky who are still having this bike and still be able to ride it may God bless all of Rx-100 owners, one personal query my bike rear tyres demands change so should i opt for OE 2.75x18\\\\\\\" or should i upgrade to 3.00x18\\\\\\\" front tyre is 2.50x18\\\\\\\", and is absolutely new fitted last year, one tyre expert said it\\\\\\\'s better to stick to OE spec as that\\\\\\\'s best for your vehicle, according to him broader tyre doesn\\\\\\\'t necessarily means good, infact broader tyre sometimes effects in handling and may rub either with swingarm or chain cover etc, so what\\\\\\\'s your say on this.

I am running 3.00*18 in the rear and 2.75*18 in the front so I can tell you it causes no problems whatsoever except maybe slightly reduced mileage. But with this configuration you\'ll get better feedback from the tyres in terms of handling and the bike will feel planted. and the only reason the tyre should rub against your fenders or swingarm is if they the bike\'s chassis is bent or wheels are misaligned. every bike comes with provision to fit one size larger tyres on it so don\'t worry and go for the 3 and 2.75 combo unless you\'re big on mileage in which case opt against it.

There is no harm in going for the stock size for your RX100 tyre requirement. Though it might not make a huge difference in mileage, however, the next size would mean large contact point so there would be some change in initials but gain is stability. Again, you would soon get used to it.

The stock 2.50 F and 2.75 R are provided according to the capacity of the engine and the handling capability tested. So you should not feel inferior by running stock. Oh yes, a good set of tyres would make you feel grippy on road. Just shared my thoughts.

Hmm yes this thought came to my mind also, actually last year i changed the front tyre of my bike with OE specification(2.50 f) and now the rear tyre demands change so if i go for 3.00x18 then i will have to change the front one again, and then this front new tyre will be wasted, but if i go with 2.75\" rear then i will save a new tyre and 1600/rs.

So according to you i shall continue with the OE set up and there\'s absolutely no harm in it, one more thing i want to use tuffup tube with new tyre is it really that worth spending some 500/- to 600/- rs on this liquid filled tube.

I would say, don\'t waste your money on the upgrading the tyre size, RX100 is good with stock tyres and it would purely be cosmetic if you still want to go ahead with the change.

With regards to tuffup tubes, all we need to have is luck, so I would not put my money on that. Trust me, puncture is puncture on a tubed tyre and we not running on tubeless to have the liberty to move on until we find the puncture shop or DIY.

Finally it seems that the site has been fixed. I can finally post again.

This is the second running in update. The bike is now even smoother with even less vibrations. the engine sound has gone down and the motor now makes power effortlessly and smoothly. I can now push the bike all the way up to 60kmph without worrying about engine seizures. The bike has crossed the 400kms mark on the speedo and soon I will be able to attempt longer distances with it.
A problem occurred with the bike as I was running it in. I saw a leak coming from the reed valve packing which was although not big but was quite messy. I found that the packing had failed and a new packing would be necessary so I had it changed. now it remains to be seen if the fix has worked. Also the rear shock absorbers were making a squeaking noise which was fixed by oiling the spring covers and the noise has stopped for now. will update on these developments in the next update.

                        Cheers

Post a picture of the bike. Make it a good one and we'll tell you exactly how much needs doing. Try to get good angles from all sides.

For reference, my Rx which is 28 years old and still a daily runner cost me 17500/- to restore minus new tyres which I am waiting for funds to buy.
But still there's only so much we can tell you without actually seeing the bike.

                                Hey folks,

Sorry for the late update. My Rx is now 600kms into its run in and I have to say I am impressed with the work my mechanic did on it. The bike is now faster, smoother, and freer than before also fuel economy has improved drastically. Earlier I was getting 25-27kmpl but now I'm getting 40-42kmpl. The sound has improved and the beats have become more rhythmic, the bike sputters less and the lag while accelerating is now gone completely. I am somewhat concerned about the sound coming from the rear brake drum though but I will have it checked out on Wednesday next week when I take it to the mech for its halfway mark checkup. It needs a few tweaks now that 600kms have passed.

Guys I do have a question. Should I go in for a tank bag for my Rx? would that be a good idea? I want the tank bag coz I have no place on the bike to safely carry the bike's documents. But everyone I ask is saying it'll spoil the bike's looks and that it'll affect the paint. So what should I do?

                                Awaiting Reply

                                Cheers
