Hi Balgi yes it does effect the look to some extent. Documents can be carried in the tool box. If you don't have one then it's very useful to have one & it doesn't effect the look in anyway.

Sorry for the late update. My Rx is now 600kms into its run in and I have to say I am impressed with the work my mechanic did on it. The bike is now faster, smoother, and freer than before also fuel economy has improved drastically. Earlier I was getting 25-27kmpl but now I'm getting 40-42kmpl. The sound has improved and the beats have become more rhythmic, the bike sputters less and the lag while accelerating is now gone completely. I am somewhat concerned about the sound coming from the rear brake drum though but I will have it checked out on Wednesday next week when I take it to the mech for its halfway mark checkup. It needs a few tweaks now that 600kms have passed.

Guys I do have a question. Should I go in for a tank bag for my Rx? would that be a good idea? I want the tank bag coz I have no place on the bike to safely carry the bike's documents. But everyone I ask is saying it'll spoil the bike's looks and that it'll affect the paint. So what should I do?

      Awaiting Reply

      Cheers

Instead of going for tank bag you can opt for normal cloth bag(back pack Pitthu bag) and tie it on the rear right side of the bike, you have to open the seat and tie one strap of the bag underneath the seat and tie other strap with the grab bar.

Go for the tool box which came in later in RX versions. It helps to even keep basic tools and bike docs. You'll have piece of mind.

            Final Run in Update.

Hi guys, Today I finally completed the 1000kms run in of my RX100. There were some problems faced but these were minor and easily rectifiable by me. The highlight of my experience with the running in of the bike is that it never broke down or seized and was happy reaching speeds of 50-60kmph even at the 250kms mark of the run in. The bike also developed no extra sounds or niggles of any kind (save for maybe the chain slack adjuster screw falling out on me twice). Over all the only problems I had were the hardness of the engine (largely attributed to the tight new piston) and the horn going kaput (the idiot washing the bike sprayed water on the relay and killed it despite me repeatedly warning him about it). The problems were rectified pretty much ASAP.
I am however getting the feeling that the crank is making a bit of noise so I'll click a video the first chance I get and post it here but it could all be in my head.

For the benefit of all who have followed this thread or are following it I will now post a few snaps of the bill.

Dear Members, Kindly answer my question.
I have YAMAHA RX-100 (1986-Original ckd Japan Model)
During last servicing I changed my accelerator wire.
At that time I also topped up my 2T Oil Tank to full.

Yesterday i realized that, In just 821 KMs, my 2T Oil tank is almost empty.

Is it correct consumption rate of 2T Oil for YAMAHA RX-100? Or is there anything wrong??

              Please reply

Consumption of 2t oil will vary according to throttle position. Just can't draw the line as how much should it last. From the kms you have posted, I would say, it is decent.

Well Its been a long and fun nine months and I have fully restored and run in my Rx100. It runs like a dream and still puts a smile on my face after 28 years of being in my family. I ride it daily now like I used to before and have covered a good 5000kms on it now. usually just short runs but I couldn't resist taking her on the highway for a longish run. It overheated on me once and left me stranded on the side of the road but thankfully I didn't have to leave it there it started back up after some time, but that was because of a faulty oil inlet pipe and the 46*C temperature in Hyderabad at the time and it has not given me a single problem since.
My Dad broke the left turn indicator stay last week by driving his car into the bike, luckily that was all the damage and I am yet to fix it. other than that it has been rather uneventful.

I guess that this concludes the purpose of this thread. Catch you all again in another thread or a G2G.
BTW @Kusmakar. I haven't been able to reply to your PM because your inbox is full. Did you manage to sell your bike? Let me know.

Thanks for informing about my mail box fullness i will delete some posts no the bike is still with me and running ok, my mechanic told me that i shouldn't be in a hurry to sell my bike because there will be some kind of respite for old vehicle i don't know what will happen in future but iam still having my bike.

The max speed I touched was 90kmph+ right before the piston seized. of course it was minor issue which got resolved in 5 mins and she started right back up. I have not attempted such speeds since. I ride it nice and smooth now at speeds of 50-60kmph.

Whatever respite the government comes up with I know for a fact it will not be for small capacity vehicles like motorcycles, especially the RX100 since it is quite a common bike. The respite will apply only to vintage and classic bikes and cars and not to vehicles under thirty years old as of date of implementation of the order. But I agree with your mechanic, you should wait it out.

                        Cheers

Siezing of piston is quite scary hope nothing much damaged has happened to the engine of the bike, i think Rx-100 best runs between speeds of 50 to 60km/h that's where she runs best engine sounds decent, above this speed and the engine starts to howl.

Yes that's what i am scared about, that the respite will be for vintage and classic vehicles, but till now i haven't been able to find any buyer to whom i can sell the bike so just keeping my fingers crossed

                          keep informing about your ride.

Bro I finally figured it out. The piston seized on me because I'm running a hot plug. The NGK plug is just wrong for a stock RX100. I will change the plug and see if that makes a difference. I rode the bike a nice 120kms one way continuously recently and overall she was a champ (apart for the the piston seizing). You see what I thought was piston seizing was actually the bike simply overheating due to a hot plug. Now that I know I'll buy the right plug. BTW any suggestions on the plug? Which one should I buy?
