also, psycho's new 5 speed barrel came in a few days ago for treatment I wont let out too much, just that he's gonna be running an RZ/Banshee reed valve with a little porting and TLC. The bore is in excellent shape when I got it but was so oval that instead of 0.75mm, we had to go to 1mm directly. He has been quite patient with procuring the parts, time with the porting work, and been loyal to my work which I really appreciate.

Time to revive the old man again psycho

      Cheers

The trottle bend which i was talking about is this.

            IMG_0509.jpg picture by psycho_98 - Photobucket

This needs to fit into this, modify the carb body no noooooo mod the throttle bend itself.

            IMG_0494.jpg picture by psycho_98 - Photobucket

Now the fatter surface of the throttle bend needs to be faced.

            IMG_0509.jpg picture by psycho_98 - Photobucket

            Measuring the difference !!

            IMG_0493-1.jpg picture by psycho_98 - Photobucket

            Measuring the depth !

            IMG_0496.jpg picture by psycho_98 - Photobucket

After measuring the depth, get a clear pic of how much metal is to be shoved off !!

            IMG_0504.jpg picture by psycho_98 - Photobucket

Need to take it and get the job done in my presence, this job would hardly costs 50 bucks !!

P.S : sorry for some blurry images screwed up the settings ..

^ if you see the carb pics the throttle bend is not present infact it didnt come with the carb, the bend which u see in the pics is of an OE carb.. since its of an OE carb the bend needs to be modded ..

                      • Got the barells back, and fixed it yesterday evening the bike came to life yesterday night .. changed the accelator cable to libero and throttle bend needs to be shortened more now, for time being using a spacer, need to do it in a couple of days.

Did a dry compression test before firing the bike, 155psi with zero carbon (new bore, new piston, new rings, and glowing clean head squish )
thanks for RDD and teji thanks for the superb head job man ..

The bike is running on 230 mains with needle position in center, waiting for some carbon deposits to check the plug reading, went for a gasfill and managed to lift the frontend twice with a pillion in the back, me think i am still running lean lets wait and see what the plug tells !! ..

Aravind thanks for the help ..

Atul everything is superb now, you have done pretty nice job on the barell and i am loving it, keep up the good work.. and for god's sake no more surface courier.. pls !!

Planning to do some quick weekend rides now, will update you guyz asap !!!

                          • nice to hear you like the setup pradeep. all the barrel needed was a little more exhaust duration [186degrees] and a little work to the transfer duration and TA and fitting that huge reed valve. It will be enough fun on the high-speed runs you do with your weight and enough low-end grunt better than a 5 speed stock barrel. Call it the magic of the port setup, the higher comp head. All working well and that's what matters at the end of the day.

Again, this is NOT a full blown drag spec setup. It is definitely a huge step up from your last setup and is meant for city as well as highway. If I had to go with a full blown 200 degrees exhaust duration port setup you would definitely have a stratospheric motor with very little life. This is the best balance between that power and engine life and should last you atleast 30,000kms without a ring change thanks to the new Sunnen bore sizing machine we used this time with diamond used for the hone.

So enjoy your setup and post up numbers soon. Do put it on the dyno if you get a chance. Will eagerly wait for the outcome and feedback

                            Cheers
