I had recently completed my rebuild with new Crank, 3KA20 Block (YP-2) and new Piston along with necessary fitting and fixture. The bike started with first kick every time. Now problem is, it refuse to go beyond the speed of 70 kmph and also refused to accelerate quickly. Whenever open the throttle it will take a time of 15-20 sec before getting the speed but never crossed the 70 kmph mark and acceleration is very poor. My mechanic said that there is problem with reed valve but i don't think so. Right now i am very confuse how to short out this problem. Needed expert advice.....
Whats the source of the 3KA20 block you have? Most prolly its a fake. Other things that go along with the 3KA20 to perform at its best are,
    1. Matching head.

    2. Bigger carb with proper jets.

    3. 3KA CDI

    4. Retiming the engine .

    5. sprocketing .

It all depends on what has gone inside the bike and how good does it look. If this purchase will not have your attention for next one year, then give it a try.

          • Wow 30k.. Thats quite pricy imo. Im getting offered a 96 Rx for 10K nego in mumbai in good running condition (read good power) and its tempting me very much.

However, like Shriram said find out all details from the mech on what has been done New/rebored cylinder kit, reconditioned/new crank etc. Specifically, have the head lifed and see which size piston the bike is running. Its best never to trust anyone on pure face value when it comes to bikes of this age and dwindling supplies of parts.

Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handlebars to the saddle!

The 3KA20 is bored from Indonesia. I inquire about 4TL00 block but India yamaha are no more producing this block and they are selling this block along with escort-mahale Piston which has smooth top surface compare to 0.5 mm Made in Japan Piston available from yamaha india

Actually I have ordered this block from authorized yamaha dealer who is very keen to provide RX parts and have checked his order list. The Block comes from Faridabad and he told me that he had ordered the Rx135 block previously and they had provided this type of two 3KA20 block.

Rightnow i am running the 3KA20 block with Stock Head which is 12 year old. so is there any difference between 3KA20 block's Head and 4TL00 Block's Head.....??

I have doubt on compression loss or there may be problem with carb's float. also there is one more thing 4TL00 block came with 5 port torque induction while 4TL10 came with 7 Port Torque induction system and 3KA20 is also rated as 14.5 bhp......so this the one thing which hampers the performance............

Some general inspection after losing the power
1.The Sound is very good from this block compare to Stock Rx135's sound. its slightly on sportier side, i really liked.
                2. There is no leakage between head and block
                3. I am using castrol gtx 20w50 motor oil
                4. Carb is 4TL01 don't know 22mm or 24mm

                  1. The 3KA never came from Faridabad. I have serious doubts it is a fake one. Do you have any box or packings?

                  2. Both the 4TL type bores are 7 port.

                  3. The 3KA needs a high compression head .

                  4. It needs a 26mm or atleast a 24mm carb to perform well.

                      • Crankshaft assembly looks ok to me. But the 3KA20 cylinder kit does not look genuine. I'm sorry for breaking your heart. Okay, here are some of the point you can think. When you say 3KA cylinder kit it belongs to Indonesia. But did you ever wonder why it has label that got Indian address and RXG Cyl. Kit? The label itself is a duplicate/fake one but that's a different story. Also, if you compare the Crankshaft Assembly label and the bore kit's, you can see world of difference.

All the 2Stroke fans - Kindly discuss and verify before you go invest money on the bore kits. Due to scarcity of bores, some vested interests have infused inferior product in the name of genuine stuff. We need to be ware of the facts, shop keeper will only to see the products and make money.

These same kits are flooded in Coimbatore ASS too and the asking price is also the same. To me it sounds like a huge Racket & looks the same too.. Do you have pics of the liners inside...

Good thing is that the crank assy OE. As said earlier i suspect the bore for your issue...

Cant comment much as the pics are very small to zoom. Id like to see the liner and the piston kit that came along with it. An original 3KA kit comes packed inside a brown Yamaha-Indonesia box. What happened to your old RX bore?
