Even I was concern of you guys doing Mumbai-Delhi part in two days. Am sure you guys can rip it, but the major hindrance to worry is, there should not be any major stress on the bikes as it will be tooo hot as you move towards North till Delhi.!! And the 'actual' journey will start once you leave manali & the bikes has to be perfect until then.
Small suggestion : Chandigarh - Manali will take entire day & you may even have to ride in dark. Once you leave chandigarh, more of mountains will start & you will have to keep on taking spins after spins. If possible you can think of staying in Mandi & then next day proceed to Manali. This way you can reach manali by afternoon & you will have time to roam around a bit & even buy some stuff including petrol cans & petrol. Next day early morning you can head for the himalayas.

+1 for the chandigarh bit, that will also mean that we can cover golden temple enroute!

Mumbai to Udaipur AFAIK is about 780-820 KMs... I agree with Pankaj on this one... riding with a backpack, and riding loaded with luggage is different!
Leh is not speedrun but more of a test of the endurance! I think we should think about the practical aspect about it.
PS: Done Udaipur to Mumbai (11AM to 11PM) with Anup, and with luggage... so its not impossible, but its nasty in heat!

Satyen is going to ride what? RTR200? So Satyen is that your RTR gone through some serious mod?

I am going to be riding a stock RTR which will be launched in the coming weeks and the ride for me will be sponsored by TVS!

ofcourse I am kidding, I am riding my RTR which has some mods on it, more about what all it has will be up on my blog when I get time for it!

PS: There might be a good\bad news about the ride.... My new 'employer' is against me riding... they are one of those paranoid ones who provide company vehicle even for private parties etc!

My concern is that our Permit day in Leh is 5th June(Saturday) so miscalculating or spending an extra day, will cost us another extra & useless day & we might end up using two buffer days for sure. If you think we can manage plz post an Ity with the mods, i got no problems, just wanna finish this ride as planned within the decided dates

Damn man, Google too shows some miscalculated distances, it said 760 when i saw it I read somewhere the distance to be 788 kms (only difference of 18)now. But I guess if we leave early by say 11PM, we can reach by 12PM...

Hello, seems like Inder has some issues with the plans, and wants to push it one day ahead (which implies 2 days as we will have to push the permit day on a Sunday too!)

Can I suggest if we can turn the trip upside down...

- and ofcourse SpyD needs to change all the From to TO and all the TO to From... (as if that made sense)

^ Satyen: You are changing the whole plan dude!! What i was suggesting that we can start off from delhi on 1st June and to cope-up for getting the leh permits and stuff we can stay back at manali 1 day and enjoy paragliding and river rafting that extra day..!! Wat say..??

@Satyen: See, we ride from Mumbai to Delhi, 2 days in bad heat. 1400 kms & we'll be bored. + more plains: Delhi-Amritsar(469 kms)-Jammu(203 kms)
Dude, we'll get fried...

Try something else, some other way...

) & one at Manali, that way we'll be reaching Leh on Sunday n Monday will be our Permit day.

As per the plan we leave delhi on 31st sir, so when you say start from Delhi on 1st, it itself means a lag there....

I am cool with that too, gives a chance to blow some money in delhi for staying, and would be a good rest.

Then another day stay @ Manali, sounds good ... but then we are neck to neck on our schedule (which trust me is not a good thing)

Am not sure if you can get permits at Srinagar/Drass. But you can easily get it from travels office at Leh.. Its darn easy
