I thought there are petrol bunk also at Diskit,Khalsi and Kargil?Originally posted by nav75 View Post

^^ there are pumps in Khalsi & Kargil.
There's one in Diskit too but availability is not regular it seems.
Also, there is a chance of getting petrol in black market in Diskit & Tangste. There's a chance of getting petrol in Khalsar too. This is my guess as that place it seems is popular as a junction kind of and taxis and trucks stop over.
We'd better carry our can of extra petrol to avoid a tough situation in case one petrol pump (among the scarcely available ones) is out of petrol!

Which are the places where you can get fuel in Shimla - Narkanda - Kalpa - Tabo - Kaza - Batal - Losar -Gramphoo stretch?Originally posted by kurtrules View PostOne thing: The petrol bunk in karu serves only diesel if my memory serves me right. So plan accordingly.
I know there is one at Kaza but its not open on all the 7 days.
I will try to avoid buying any petrol in black as for sure it will be badly adulterated which is bad news for FI ones like P220.Originally posted by HydBiker View PostAlso, there is a chance of getting petrol in black market in Diskit & Tangste.

Kargil, I have already mentioned.Originally posted by MG_Biker1806 View PostI thought there are petrol bunk also at Diskit,Khalsi and Kargil?
Diskit and Khalsi - I didn't see any, so wasn't aware of it.
I have heard and read that people were able to get fuel at almost every place on Leh - Srinagar and Leh - Manali highway but at a premium. Though I tried sourcing some in Drass as I was running low on fuel but failed. Since then I don't trust on getting fuel at places other than fuel pumps.Originally posted by HydBiker View PostAlso, there is a chance of getting petrol in black market in Diskit & Tangste. Indeed. That's why I have kept them as options in case of desperate emergency.Originally posted by MG_Biker1806 View PostI will try to avoid buying any petrol in black as for sure it will be badly adulterated which is bad news for FI ones like P220.
Diskit does have a petrol pump Nav. But as they said, availability is not guaranteed. Tangtse - a possible option if in emergency. Other places, forget it.Originally posted by nav75 View PostI have heard and read that people were able to get fuel at almost every place on Leh - Srinagar and Leh - Manali highway but at a premium. @kurt-Nothing concrete as of now and hence looking for all the possible options at hand. I might do Spiti+ Himachal or Spiti+Leh or Spiti only. My initial plan was to do Uttrakhand so youb see I'm the most confused guy here
.
Btw two more question.
What time Chandertaal route opens and is there any accomodation around the lake?
I know BSNL is the only option in terms of connectivity and Airtel comes next in some of the places. So for Leh will a Maharashtra BSNL sim work or I need to buy a local sim? And what about place like Sonamarg,Srinagar and Jammu?

Chadrataal opens up most likely by the end of June. I was there last year in the second week of June but the road to Chandrataal was blocked some 7 kms before the lake.Originally posted by MG_Biker1806 View Post@kurt-Nothing concrete as of now and hence looking for all the possible options at hand. However, looking at the current change in weather, things are likely to clear up early including passes like Rohtang and kunzum.
In Spiti, nothing works except local BSNL. In Leh postpaid airtel works on roaming so i am assuming that BSNL should work on roaming. In kashmir, Airtel postpaid is the only private operater that works. BSNL should also work, being a government provider." I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not" - Kurt Cobain
