      Thank you.

BTW, I have one question. Do we need to switch to a different grade of engine oil like 0W30, or can we continue with what we use in the hot and humid home town of ours?

I think the "our beloved" TVS TRU4 PREMIUM will help you there IMO, 10w30 will be enough

                  Hi guys

me and my friend are planning for leh this september(1st-11th)..i need some help regarding planning my itinerary...we both have never done any high pass riding before..just bit of offroading is what we have done.how would be the weather and roads, are landslides common in september on manali route?

regarding bikes we are planning to hire from manali.(more economical and hassle free)....how good is the idea? what problems may we find..or should we use GATI or something to transport our own bike to manali

1 sept: bangalore - delhi by air and in evening
                  delhi - manali by bus

2 sept: reach manali early morning..collect bikes..take rest.
do a test run till rohatang pass if interested. spend night in manali

3 sept: manali-sarchu spend night in camp

4 sept: sarchu-leh start early reach early...roam around and spend night in leh

5 sept: Leh - Khardung La - Diskit/Hunder (Nubra Valley)- camp at Hunder

                  6 sept: buffer day

7 sept: pangong Tso, try to cover tso moriri(if possible) find night stay(??)

8 sept: come back to leh

                  9 sept: leh - jispa

10 sept: jispa-manali start early reach before noon..return bike catch bus for delhi in evening

11 sept: reach delhi early morning..catch flight to bangalore

for delhi-manali n return journey i m depending upon redbus.in is it good idea or should we hire taxi?

i m open to change in itinerary..we have to be in bangalore on 12th september..that's it.

                    Hi Amitesh,
Here are few suggestions from me...
                    1) Going to Leh in sept is not a gud idea, you may find roads in very bad condition due to rain.... no one can predict that what will be the position of Roads in sept. the best time to go to leh is in between june and mid july.... but b4 going to leh as per planning just chk the weather condition there.... today itself i got a msg from one my friend that "Manali - Leh Highway Current Status: Highway is open for all vehicles, however the road conditions are quite bad due to constant landslide and due to this, there are long jams and delays"
                    2) Avoid taking bikes on hire.... its always good to ride your own bike because
you know ur bike very wel....
                    3) you can get accommodation at karzok (Tso moriri) just inquire with the local people about road condition from upsi to Tso moriri....
Leh to Jispa is around 340 K.m and it is very much difficult to cover this distance in a single day due to very bad condition of road specially in More Plain and you will face more then 5 water crossing in between the route....
divide the journey in two days....
                    9 sept.- Leh to Pang
10 Sept- Pang to Jispa/Keylong = try to leave pang @4 am so that you can cross the most dangerous Nala which is in between Baralacha La and Zinzing Bar before 11 am bcose water level would not be high.....

One more thing while returning back to Pangong Tso there is no need to go to leh u can directly come to Pang from karu....

                    • One more thing amitesh u owned Pulser 220 and it is the best bike for Leh tour due to Two main reasons
                      1) Muffler of Pulser is on higher side so there is less chance that water enter into muffler while crossing Nala.....
                      2) Tyre size is big....

                      • thanks sandy for such helpful info
how about if i try via srinagar route..is it doable in september?
regarding my pulsar220,i have stock IRC tire and quite unreliable in wet condition...but can it withstand "leh" conditions.

it would be really helpful if someone could point me to the person who has done it in september,or even a travelog would be helpful.

                        thanks again

                        • amitesh, compare to MANALI - LEH route SRINAGAR - LEH route is better and in rain you may only find difficulties in Zozila Pass....... half of the route is Tarmac and rest is non or broken tarmac but still it is gud compare to MANALI - LEH................
IRC Tyre are soft compound tyre compare to MRF and hence has short life. also is very vulnerable to punctures.... so i guess it may create problem

Amitesh, Sandy is correct. Replace the rear tyre to Ceat Vertigo. I have just returned from the Manali route and there was a P220 with us which did the best ride all the way through broken terrain. whatever be the case, safety comes first. All the best with your ride. God Speed
