I'm riding from from Tirupur, will join you, ride plans??

I don't know it is possible as per the following route, those are the places I dream of visiting, but not compulsory, so advice needed from the guys who have already ridden through out India
Find local businesses, view maps and get driving directions in Google Maps.

So how much does it cost to ship the bikes to Chandigarh ?

We are a bunch of 5 bikes going in August from August 1-15. Would it work out cheaper to ship all 5 bikes in the same container ?
        Just curious.

        Thanks,

They are charging me 8k from Andaman Islands - Delhi. You should ask a quote from your regional courier guy might be less for you

              Re: Ladakh Planner 2016

              Hello all,

I am also planning for Ladahk-Leh this summer. I am from Ahmedabad and I own a karizma R series (2010 model). I have read few things about this trip which I consider may be difficult without proper guidance like crossing a water stream, repairing some stuff in bike if I face them ( I have never done any DIY), permits, deciding about routes, where are the petrol pumps, how much petrol to be carried other than tank, where to stay, what should I take with myself etc etc. I have rode 370 kms max in a day. I am not sure if I have stamina to cover over 450-500 kms in a day. I drove my car over 550 kms in a day and I was damn tired by the end.
Its my first timer so I am seeking detailed guidelines. Can anybody please help?

Most of what you want answered is already there on the older threads. Check the previous leh/ladakh planner threads. Check the team-bhp ultimate ladakh and zanskar guide. Go through bcmtouring.com threads and info. Once you have done all that, come back with a plan and people here will be able to fine-tune it and help you out.
As far as having done only 370km in a day once, well the only answer is to ride more than that this weekend. With adequate breaks, most distances are nothing.

1)Change your tire from low profile to dual purpose
2)Take clutch cable and accelerator cable as a spare
3)Take a puncture kit with you and tire inflator (manual)
                    4) Gear leaver and break leaver (incase you fall)

You can also check ladakh tour website and Devil on wheels website for further assistance

Yes after posting this, I went through threads of ladakh in 2015, 2014 and the team bhp link where a guy explored ladakh in his safari.

I am planning to start from Chandigarh.
                      Itinerary 1
                      Day 1 Chandigarh to Patnitop.
                      Day 2. Patnitop to Sonmarg.
                      Day 3. Sonmarg to Layamaru
                      Day 4. Layamaru to Leh.

                      Itinerary 2.
                      Day 1 Chandigarh to Panipat
                      Day 2 Panipat to Srinagar.
                      Day 3 Srinagar to Sonmarg
                      Day 4 Sonmarg to Layamaru
                      Day 5 Layamaru to Leh.

Read about necessary thing to be taken like clutch cable, accelerator cable, containors to carry petrol, woolen socks, rider boots, saddle bag etc.

My Karizma has done over 51k kms and its fibre is shattered at few places. Is it ok to take her to the trip or shall I hire bike from chandigarh?

The Karizma, if working well, is one of the finest bikes for the ride. Though I feel you should switch over to tubeless tyres for more peace of mind.
You don't need to carry petrol for the route you are planning. Adequate fuel pumps along the way. Top up your petrol in Kargil for the last stretch.

Regarding your itinerary, both look fine. My preference would be 1st one. Kargil is a boring unfriendly place. Lamayuru is delightful. Srinagar is pretty but Sonmarg is just awesome. However, check if you are going in the tourist season. Then, the pricing will be through the roof.
Also, chandigarh to patnitop means you will be riding for quite sometime. Do build up your riding stamina.
Among the essentials, Riding Gloves, Riding Jacket and Knee Protectors (in case you are not buying riding pants) are essentials. Then, a good quality riding boot or even a sturdy DM boot or woodland will work. If you switch over to tubeless tyres, carry a small pump too.

But this looks like half the plan. Where is the rest of it.

                          Thank You for quick reply.

I have alpinestar riding jacket, knee guards, gloves for winter, a pair of woodland shoes however I am thinking of buying good riding boots which covers ankle joint. Yes I will change to tubeless tyres. Yesterday I checked the BCM touring site and read about how to prepare bike for this trip. I think I am fed up with my Karizma as I have failed to find a nice mechanic till now. Last night bike's low beam stopped working (some connection might have gone lose) and only high beam was working. *sigh* I guess I may have to rent a bike (probably another karizma) from Chandigarh.
ANd, is there any water stream crossing on the Srinagar Leh road?

After reaching Leh, I am planning to spend 3-4 days there and will plan the details in few days. I am planning to spend one night in tent at Pangong. I am planning to take the trip in August 2016. I am expecting lesser rush and clear weather at that time.

Do check if you can get a zma in chandigarh. Also, there was some trouble in Leh last year with rented bikes. The local association wanted people to use their bikes for sojourns from Leh in case of non Ladakh rented bikes.
August is a beautiful time to go, though a bit wet and treacherous on the leh-manali section. Accomodation will be reasonably easy to come by.
No water crossing on the srinagar leh section. However, things can get slushy near Zozila with very minor streams. Don't worry too much about water crossings. They look much more dangerous in videos than in reality :-)
