    Fair enough.
Though you won't need any permits if you stick to the regular nubra-pangong circuit in ladakh.
As far as riding companies go, the ones targeted at foreigners will cost you a bomb. If I get any specific info of a reliable touring company, will let you know.

Where Can I get snow chains for Duke 200?

I am planning a Leh-Ladakh trip this year in May end - Jun first week. As Ive read, there will be a good amount of snow and the D200 stock tires are not a good grip for snow or wet surfaces. So I was thinking of getting ready made snow chains for both the tires. Where can I buy these in Delhi? Is there any other DIY guide for this? At first I thought of changing to Ceat vertigo sport which has big blocks but my stock tires are wornout too so i have to get some street cred tires first like Michelin pilot and ceat tires would only add up to the increasing budget. Hence I wanted to go for snow chains which i think will cost less . I want something like this. Please help me out.

No need for any snow chains....no need for any tyre change.Y
          Your stock would just fine.
You are not going to Antarctica...its Ladakh and roads are cleared of snow for traffic.

              Re: Ladakh Planner 2016

              Hi,

Is it advisable to visit Nubra Valley via CAB on the same day if I land in Leh in the morning? (How much should I expect to pay for CAB & Stay)
Are there places to stay at/near Nubra Valley?
If i'm flying from Delhi to Leh, when should i take medicine to prevent AMS? (if at all I should take any)
I plan to buy some warm clothes from Leh like winter gloves, thermals, etc..., any recommended shops?

                Absolutely not.
You must rest at least 24 hrs before you go to Nubra valley.Nubra valley lies beyond Khardunla La pass 18000 feet.Visiting such altitiude immidietely after flight may prove costly for you.Avoid it.
There are hundreds of hotels in Nubra valley for stay and food.No problem.
AMS medicines are generally taken 24-48 hrs before.

                  Re: Ladakh Planner 2016

                  Hello Guys,

I am planning my trip to Leh-Ladakh this June or July(depends on leaves i get). I would be riding my Apache RTR 180 from Delhi(most probably).
I am going to take only Manali-Leh route. I plan to visit Nubra Valley along with Diskit and Hunder, Pangong Lake also Marsimik La if time permits. And return back to Delhi.

                  Itenary:

                  • DAY 1: Delhi to Manali (if not starting from Chandigarh).
                  • DAY 1: Chandigarh to Manali (if not starting from Delhi).
                  • DAY 2: Stay at manali (find some higher altitude place to acclimatize).
                  • DAY 3: Manali to Jispa. Stay at Jispa
                  • DAY 4: Jispa to Leh.
                  • DAY 5: Stay at Leh (get permits, visit nearby places)
                  • DAY 6: Leh to Diskit. Stay at Diskit visit nubra valley
                  • DAY 7: Diskit to Pangong Lake via Shyok, Stay at pangong lake thinking about tent, if possible visit Marsimik La
                  • DAY 8: Pangong Lake to Sarchu (worried about fuel) Stay at sarchu for night
                  • DAY 9: Sarchu to Kullu Stay at Kullu
                  • DAY 10: Kullu to New Delhi Start early to reach Delhi.

Please suggest me if this itenary is possible or not.

Please suggest me if this itenary is possible or not.
Day 2: In the context of the journey, Manali is hardly high alti. So spending an extra day there isn't really going to help unless you want to do some sight seeing. Probably push till Koksar/Keylong/Jispa
Day 3: From manali to Jispa is a decent leisurely ride. In case you travel further on previous day then you can go till Sarchu on this day.
Day 4: Jispa to Leh is rushing it. It is definitely doable but you will be in a hurry instead of absorbing what nature has to offer to you. If on previous day you had made it to Sarchu/ZingZing Bar, then its fine, otherwise consider stopping at Pang. I would suggest Pang over Debring as Pang has decent toilets and a army med support in case of any breathing problems. If you did Jispa to Pang, AMS can be a factor. So do take precautions and drink a lot of local cinnamon water concoction which the tent owners will offer you.
Day 5: Permits shouldn't be required for what I am suggesting to you.
Day 7: Diskit to Pangong through agham shyok is not very advisable in june. If this is your first time, you shouldn't miss the climb to Chang La or the descent. Its the stuff dreams are made of. Also, the day is going to be long and hectic if you take khardungla and then chang la.
Tip on Pangong Tso: Ride 20 km ahead to Man/Merak instead of staying at the initial settlements. It is worth it.
Day 8: Very hectic if you don't start early. You can take the call at Pang. Another beautiful option is taking Man/Merak-Chushul-Changthang-Upshi-Pang (this route will require permits)
Day 9: See if you can push further to Mandi (reason in next line)
Day 10: The Heat. With all the riding gear and 45+ temp, riding is one crazy superhuman effort. Start as early as possible so that you will have time to take adequate hydration breaks.

Probably not waste day 2 at manali and push along since you don't have a buffer day planned.
Why aren't you doing the full circuit by the way ? Pangong-Lamayurur-Srinagar-Pathankot-Delhi is also a nice option.

I am having time and budget restrictions to complete the whole circuit.

I have updated my plans as follows:

                      • Chandigarh to Manali: Stay at manali as to pass Rohtang in early morning avoiding traffic.
                      • Manali to Jispa
                      • Jispa to Pang
                      • Pang to Leh: reach leh in 2 days from manali
                      • Leh to Diskit(hunder, nubra, panamik) Stay at Diskit
Diskit to Pangong lake Via Leh
                      • Pangong Lake to Chusul-Nyoma (permits needed) Stay at Nyoma
                      • Nyoma to Sarchu Stay at Sarchu
                      • Sarchu to Kullu. Stay Kullu
                      • Kullu to Chandigarh.

Please let me know any suggestions. I will be having buffer days i just dont know where to include them in the itenary.

                          Ok.
Diskit to Pangong via Leh is going to be very hectic. No point of rushing through a beautiful part of the journey.
Pangong to Nyoma? Go till Hanle.
Nyoma to Sarchu ->Very hectic and pointless again to rush it. Probably till Pang.
Sarchu to Kullu -> Won't be easy so start as early as possible. Since you are only travelling till Chandigarh, even Manali is fine.

Ok, here is an alternate plan for you which will help you cover much more stuff.

After Diskit go till Shakti/Saakthi (a quiet little village with limited stay options at the base of Chang La) or come back to Leh. Leh is a fun place in June with an amazing biker vibe so it will all be good. You could probably visit one of the monasteries too.

Next day, make it to Man/Merak on the Pangong.

                          Pangong - Hanle

                          Hanle -Tso Moriri
                          Tso Moriri - Pang/Sarchu

                          and so on..
Yes, permits will be needed for Hanle and Tso Moriri.
Don't worry about buffer days. Just have all the info with you and pitch wherever you feel is paradise :-) Don't have a 'target' to reach everyday.

                            Dear All,
I have planned my ladhak trip from 3rd June 2016 to 19th of June 2016. Please let me know, shall I plan some another alternate date, because I will be taking Jammu-Srinagar-Leh-Chandigarh route starting from 6th of June. Are there any possibilities that the roads will not be opened by then?

Sorry, if I have put this in wrong thread. I will start my own with due approval. Fellas, waiting for your comments. I will be leaving from Pune. So anyone interested can join us . We are two right now.

                            Thanks.
